Goodness001: THERE is no language like ekpotor in ette. let me explain how the language is being spoken in ette. Those that are close to full igbo town speaks igbo wawa nd those who dwell at d central part speaks idoma. Those close to igala people of kogi speaks igala. Our own idoma is quiet different from the one that benue people speaks. Idoma language of benue people is quiet deeper than ours. |

bigfrancis21:I hope you know that Language is not a barrier in trade? Pidgin english has made all infomal settings much easier. Also the idoma traders may hear a little igbo(or even perfect igbo) and vise versa. Let me add that my people and other nearby communities are not bi-lingual even though we are almost at the border with benue. 1 Like |

jk200:Don't make me doubt that you are not from there. To start with, Ette is not contiguous to Benue nor Kogi state. Its in heart of Enugwu Ezike. Their language is called Ekpotor by their neighbours. Ekpotor could be Idoma or Igala but I don't know whence my question. |

Goodness001: You can doubt me but am full blood ette indigene. i can even give u my home address if you want it. ette is not far from Enugwu ezike and it shares border with kogi state. The late governor Audu of Kogi state has a house in ette. His mum is from igala speaking side of ette . Few years ago, there was a community clash in ette because some people wants to secede to Kogi state while some repel d idea. It leads to community clash. http://nsukkacatholicdiocese.org/ette-crisis-an-update.html http://africandemocrat.com/content/outbreak-violence-enugukogi-border-community |

Bobbybob:you are one of the few sensibile Igbo in the whole world, forgive me if i am a bit harsh but your people here, trying to claim other people are not trying at all. imagine them claim there are indegenous Igbo in Benue and Kogi! but why do these people like claiming others? could this also be one of the reasons they get killed in South Africa? and now, they have started claiming Akwa Ibom and Edo! maybe Ile Ife and Sokoto would be the next places they would claim have indegenous Igbo |

Biafrannuke: Ika is a border LGA with the Abia state and they have been figniting wars since time immemorial. Need I put it that the Igbo along that path are scared of them. What I'm sure of is that during border adjustment, there were some part of Akwa Ibom that was given to Abia and some part of Abia came into Akwa Ibom too. When the oil boom occurred there were "rumours" from unofficial sources that the Igbo side schemed to be put into Akwa Ibom, it's still a raging issue cos I know some people who are Akwa Ibomites but their land fell into the Igbo side. This was also helped by a kingship tussle to nullify the other. Also note that Arochukwu was an Ibibio territory, you can check up on the history. |
Re: Languages Spoken In Each Of The 36 States In Nigeria by ubcandid(m): 11:42am On Oct 02, 2019 |
Biafrannuke: Arochukwu began as an Ibibio town, there was a kingship tussle and due to intermarriage and power struggle, the Igbo's schemed themselves to take over the town. The history is not hidden. |
Re: Languages Spoken In Each Of The 36 States In Nigeria by ubcandid(m): 11:42am On Oct 02, 2019 |
YungMillionaire: You lie. The Igbo's are mostly those from Arochukwu and the town Arochukwu was originally an Ibibio land. |
