That they live in developed society does not mean that everything and all their ways of life is good.
Learn what is good there, return and apply it to your own home and make your own country good.

Calling an adult by Jack or James is just disrespect. I lived overseas and called all the white elders by Mr/Mrs/Sir/Madam.... They are not my mate. They deserve their respect. Simple. If you look at people, you will know who is elder to you or not.
I came back and continue calling my Nigerian elders, Sir, Ma, ... etc. We can't be operating double standards in life.

Just because something is not accepted where you are from doesn't make it the standard everyone else should live by.
You are in no position whatsoever to define what respect is and isn't for other cultures because after all your definition of respect was Influenced by your cultural upbringing so it'd be bigotry of you to project your cultural ideologies and upbringings on others

problem is when u trek 2km to work just to get there and realize that you forgot the office key at home. So you managed to trek back home leaving your heavy bag at the office doorstep...
On getting home, you realized that your house key is in the bag you left at the Office Doorstep... You got upset, but had no choice, so you trekked back to the office again, picked up your bag angrily, and trekked your way back home again..
On getting home, you dipped your hand in your bag, only to realize that the office key was in your bag all along...

A video of a Nigerian man shouting at a US Airline hostess and reminding her that they are not mates has surfaced online. An Instsgram user who sent it to M4N said the incident happened recently.

In the said video, the elderly man can be heard shouting at the caucasian air hostess and asking her if she thinks they are mate. The cause of the faceoff between the man and the air hostess is unknown.

I did a Masters in UK. I was 27 at the time.
Our professor, somebody of 50-60 years with pure white hair, said we should call him "John".
Just like that.
Not Professor John, Dr John...
Even Yes Sir, No Sir.... He said we should not be doing "Sir, Sir, Sir" for him.
The guy is not my mate. My African background, no gree me O. I still call am "Sir".
Their oyibo children were just calling him John, as if he's their mate.
