SEGLIZ:
Good morning to all the comrades on nairaland.
please, i would like to know if this is the standard procedure.

I was at one of the NIN centre in Abeokuta on Friday 4th of October, to get myself registered, on getting there I inquired from people I met on ground how to go about things.

I was told to go out to a nearby fuel station to get the form. at the station, the fuel attendant (a lady to be precise) told me I am to pay a fee of a hundred Naira before I can get the form.

Questioning the act the young lady only turn to whatever it was she was reading before my arrival without giving a damn I was there standing. after I payed for the form, i returned to the center to fill out the form only to hear people at about 5 minutes past 10, saying they've stop the collection of form till the next day which would be today Monday.

Please is it the standard procedure to buy this form as a citizen or a foreigner intending to naturalize?

N. B. I intentionally held back the name of that centre for now.

Wait till you are told to pay 5k to get it instantly

NIMC has said and still saying the National Identification Number is the most important token of one's registration, and it can be verified on the verification portal. The NIN slip is a valid means of identification

I completed the re-enrollment form online and did a print out, as instructed by the NIMC website. Then I went to one of the NIMC centers in Lagos with my print out having the bar code. They told me point blank that it can't work with their system there. Their system is I have to buy a form, fill and submit. I was wondering form again, because the instructions on their website never said anything of such. But I bought it out of curiosity, N50. Then they gave me a photocopy form, lo and behold, it was the same form that I already filled online before I could get the bar code print out............. The most corrupt government civil service in the world........... Welcome to Nigeria!

Which centre is that?

Most of those that purchase form are those who have not take the option of online registration. The ladies was charging you for her service of helping you to visit the NIMC website, download and print hard copy for easy of pick up. You are paying for a service.

If you do not want to pay to get your NIN, visit their website, pre-enrolled yourself and print out the filled pre-enrollment form OR download and print the Pre-enrolment form yourself, fill it and bring it to their center. By the time you calculate the cost and the stress, you will realise why the lady sold the form to you for N100.

For more information about Pre-enrolment and free enrolment form, you can visit https://www.nimc.gov.ng/preenrolment-online/

Not true. I did my pre-registration online, got to the center with my print out, but my genuine print out from the NIMC website that had barcode was not accepted. They said I must buy form N50. That's that their system there, my print out was not taken. The Nigerian Civil Service is a hotbed of corruption.

at ode centre of ogun state. they do collect up to 1k from people and if you want to get the coloured print out immediately, you will have to pay more. that's the normal tradition over there and no one seems to be questioning them. this is Nigeria !

I paid 1000
My bro paid 3000

They're making so much money. They have line for special people. It's just for you to pay the money and position your face for capture thereby neglecting the ones that came first and can write by themselves.

One of the ways to be explore entrepreneurship is by being innovative and creative.
The say that to make money, look for a void (I.e what people needs that's far from their reach) and fill it.
She has only done that.
She went online, printed the form and mass copied them so as to redistribute to the rightful people that needs it at a cost of N100 while going about her salaried job as a pump attendant at the Petrol Station.
She'll also submit the form on your behalf to the nearest NIMC office or probably the one close to her residence.

Young lady, may you sour higher in your pursuit for financial freedom.

Should in case you don't want to pay the N100, then go to the authentic NIMC office. Simple...

you ain't getting it, the centre told people to go there for form then return to them for processing.

Either you've started the registration online or not, I can boldly say that you'll still have to pay those guys. When I did mine, even though I've done the enrollment by myself, the lady I met in the LGA collected #200 for fuel and that was in year 2007.
2weeks ago my sister also did hers in another state, and I was told she paid #100

They might be selling the form without the knowledge of the authority but this is Naija where anything can happen without investigations...

They are selling without the knowledge of even their Directors. It's the officers there that are selling the form. What is expected of us the citizens is to try and record the transaction and just take it to their state office to file a case.

I can almost promise you, it won't happen in that area again. Gradually, we will all stop the rot in our environment. Government alone cannot fight corruption.

Gentlemen and Ladies,N100 is not a fraud,This is the cost of service render to you on behalf of the NIMC for pre-registration .
We need to upgrade yourself, if you have data,go online and fill the form and print. Then go to your local government with any means of identification and perform your bio metric,Then you can go for your print out from the Office of NIMC.
If you need further clarification,go to the website about Pre-enrolment and free enrolment form, you can visit https://www.nimc.gov.ng/preenrolment-online/

im telling you that even if u print the form online and take it to the NIMC office u will still pay. you must go there as early as 7am or 6 am and be on the queue and one civil servant in that office will not call the names on the list. you will see corruption at its best after waking up early for someone that has a car will come around 10 and get the form and finish everything right before your very eyes. somolu local government in Lagos state is the worst. and mind u, no phone when u enter their office. pay N50 for the form, N200 for the first print out that has no NIN then u will be told to come back and pay after a month for the print out that has the NIN
