Production budget is separate and different from marketing costs and distribution.

Endgame costs $500mn for production alone. If u add the marketing and distribution that sum goes way up. So some ppl screaming it made $2.7bn that profit isn't much.

First and foremost, production budget of a movie is the costs incurred in producing, making or creating a movie.

It is different and separate from marketing / promotional cost. It's also different from distribution cost.

These are the reasons why box office financial experts coined the movie rule : a movie should make 3x times it's production budget to be termed successful.

That 3x times gross covers all expenses including actual production cost, marketing and distribution. Any added earnings after that is pure PROFIT.
Note: a movies total box office gross is not entirely for the studios but shared between the cinemas and studios and other distribution partners in percentages. Hence, the 3x times box office proceeds tries it's possible best to cover all this expenses and leaves some tangible earnings for the production studio.

If RDJ, Scarjo, Adam Driver and Endgame gets nominated, the ratings would be high. I won't be surprised if he's nominated cos it's a very weak year
