It's fascinating how the board has gradually lowered the standards for this club in the last 6 years and made the current situation acceptable to some fans.

we on the same line except many of the largesse have been dished to the wrong people because of the commercialization or the maintenance of "quota".
Both very wrong moves.

They left Woodward in charge of football decisions despite repeated failures in recruitment.

The wage bill you mentioned is actually a negative cos they rewarded mediocre players with bumper contracts.

They focused on the marketing aspect and have neglected the footballing and scouting aspects.

They started the decline by loading the club with debt in the last years of Fergie’s tenure which meant we were replacing world class talent with potential talent at a time other clubs were rearming.

They accelerated the decline by choosing a money man to run a football club because all they are interested in is how much they can make from the club rather than the club’s sporting success.

The only constants in these 7 lean years have been Woodward and the Glazers. Why should they not bear most of the responsibility for the situation.

What's happening here:

Jose Mourinho 'never wanted Fred' at Manchester United and only accepted the £52m midfielder out of fear the club would not sign anyone else.

I cannot blame them for giving incumbent Managers a free hand to decide who comes in/out, which players deserve contract extensions...and related stuffs.

It's not as if Woodward's predecessor (David Gill) imposed himself as regards the aforementioned issues anyways so I fail to even understand where this witch-hunting is coming from.

Na una go still complain if our situation is akin to Real Madrid's where the president dey get him own list of transfer targets which do not necessarily align with the wishes of the gaffer.

The Glazers took over in 2005. Between 2005 & 2013, the club amassed atleast 7 major honours. At some point (within that time frame), this same club was the strongest and richest in the world.

Let's face it - we got it horribly wrong with our succession plan for Sir Alex & unfortunately, we are yet to recover.

One thing we can't argue regardless is the fact that the board have tried over the past couple of years. The quality on show doesn't in any wayatch the huge outlay over the past few years.

Against Newcastle, we paraded a midfield of Fred, Pereira and McTonimay and in attack, Rashford, James and Mata...That's relegation quality we're parading.

We need to decide what kind of football we want to play and sign players accordingly and not just allow any useless manager come in and waste resources on average players.
Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by patrickmuf(m): 1:02pm On Oct 13, 2019
And for those praising Maguire and Wan-Bissaka, look at Palace and Leicester, their defence is doing better or on par with ours...

We have not improved in any department, the defence is still shaky, the midfield is poor bar Pogba and the attack is clueless since Martial got injured...

Ole should go...Look at Sterling at City, Pep has impacted on his game, his positioning is top notch now.
Walker who was all about pace and power is now more intelligent on the ball, he chooses when to use his pace unlike before when at every opportunity he went for pace and power. We have Rashford and James with pace and nothing but pace. Why Ole can't coach them to apply a bit of sense rather than always trying to use their speed in every scenario shows how clueless he is.

Pathetic United

When last did you win a meaningful competition?

When last did teams quiver at the tot of playing against you?

De Gea has been saving you from shame for years

Imagine a goal keeper winning player of the year for a team back to back

Now de gea juju done fade, fowl yansh done expose

Useless team that spent 80m on a defender and can't keep clean sheet

I like to remind you that Fred cost 60m

Honestly the way United have wasted Money on useless players eh

That team is more expensive than Liverpool team but the gap in quality be like league 2 and premier league

Yet Na una Sabi troll pass

Shame to the pathetic ones

On point!

Style and intelligence matter. If we keep saying there are a few quality players, then buy more quality players, sack the coach and send the players to win the games all by themselves.

The fact is, the manager needs to make good our play with average players and some quality ones. We don't need 11 super players, we need a mix and a sensible manager.

No one should tell me that Crystal, Newcastle, Wolves players are better than the ones we parade.

I will continue to say that the Glazers have tried. They have brought in quality players many times only for them to flop. Why?

Only that they have refused to be sensible with manager and backroom staff recruitment.

How you guys think each part of a team (defense, midfield and attack) function in isolation amazes me. The defence can never be solid unless the midfield and attack do their part. The only other option is to play community defending like what we did under Mourinho in his second year here.

In other words, it's more of the system and not the personnel?

It's the same reason why I think Dalot as RB rather than a 50m outlay for Wan-Bissaka would have served us better...

Will we be any worse with a back 4 of;
Dalot...... Tuanzebe...... Lindelof......... Shaw? Ole should be shown the door ASAP...

Leicester has conceded 7 goals this season, Utd 8. They've scored 14, Utd 9. Clearly, the problem is not the defence. Midfield and attack is non existent and we don't have any striker. Also, Pogba topped goals and assists chart for Utd last season. He's only played like 2 of the 7 league matches this season.

I'm not exonerating OGS of any blame here, I'm just stating fact. OGS has persisted with his 4-2-3-1 formation when it clearly isn't working. His rigidity and failure to adapt to the skills of the players on ground will be his doom. We don't have many world class players but that doesn't mean we should be getting staffed by Longstaff and the likes.

Dalot is very limited defensively. We've seen that countless times. People have this habit of clamouring for players who are on the bench. They forget their limitations. And when they start misbehaving they'll start calling for other players on the bench. Just look at Fred. People are always calling for him to play but he's jittery and unstable, he should only play in the Europa league.

Yes, we'll be far worse with that defence you listed. The two RBs can't hold their own agasint tricky wingers and the two CBs can't win an aerial challenge.

If we started the season with that formation we'd be sitting 20. Cos I dont see how we wont lose against Vardy and Chelsea.

We've got a blunt attack already, having a bad defense in addition will be catastrophic.
