kikuyu2: Sorry broz, I dint know you posted Vicky & AML-90 upgrade years ago. Thanks for sharing the good ideas. So its Nigeria's failure to upgrade not Kenyans hiding useful stuff, we need to fix our own lives here in NG Kenya surprises me going for MD armed light helicopter, same Kenya had 12 early model British made Tucanos before, now instead of moving up to Super Tucano model like 20 other developing countries, a plane that can take off from Kenya to kill Al Shabaab in Somalia and return to Kenya on same fuel load is a mystery. 1 Like

komekn: On base HESCO walls you are 100% correct, but army DSHK 12.7 mm vs ISWAP 14.5 or 23 mm is Pussy Cat vs Lion, waste of young soldiers. Why not brigade, division GOCs go try it themselves and see red pepper Still army can't depend on only HESCO, we still need AFV with right type of cannons to shoot back or else FOBs become our graveyard when ISWAP lobs mortar bombs over HESCO barriers, FOB is large size, static, easy target, BHT mortars won't miss, and they captured dozens of our own mortars to kill us. Bros, our DSHK max effect is 800 m practical range day time, its half that range in dark night, our soldiers are not Bats born with natural eyes night vision, we have no .50 Cal E.Optics as standard issue, we use old skool iron sights. BHT dont have or need AAA gun stabilizers, people in town, even DHQ underestimates these ugly face devils who mastered the art of using unstabilized KPV, ZSU to shoot down NAF Alpha jets, among fastest subsonic jets ever made, flown by best Alpha jet experienced pilots on planet, its those same devil BHT AAA gunners people think cannot damage our boys and APCs in open FOBs from 2 km far range? They fire in area effect on huge target FOB, even one-eyed gunner wont miss! NA needs to reply enemy 14.5mm with at least 23mm or we keep filling cemetery holes with fine young men, future crop of officers, many leave babies, pregnant wives behind. Reason Nigeria refuses to spit fire for fire is a mystery beyond me. 9 Likes |

According to the Reps Air Force Committee Chairman, Mr Shehu Koko, the engagement with the US government would be to emphasise on the need to speed up the process of the purchase and delivery in view of the current security challenges in the country. Presidential fleet: NSA hands over two aircraft to NAF The National Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd), has handed over two aircraft in the Presidential fleet to the Nigerian Air Force. Monguno handed over the two aircraft, Augusta AW101 Very Important Personality Helicopters to the Minister of Defence, Mansur Dan Ali, in the presence of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, his Army counterpart, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and other top security chiefs in Abuja. He said that the release of the aircraft to the NAF was in fulfillment of the promise of President Muhammadu Buhari to reduce the amount of money being spent on the maintenance of the Presidential Air Fleet. He said that the President had earlier released a AW109 helicopter and a King Air Beechcraft in 2015 with the intent to enhance the operational capacity of the NAF in the ongoing campaign against the insurgency in the North East. He stated further that the committee set up by the Presidency on the approved sale of two other aircraft, a Falcon 7X and Hawker 4000 aircraft, would soon compete its assignment. He said that the aircraft which were handed over to the NAF ‘have ballistic defence capabilities and are equipped with defensive aid suites against certain forms of missile attacks.” read more https://punchng.com/presidential-fleet-nsa-hands-two-aircraft-naf/amp/?__twitter_impression=true 3 Likes |

WARTHUNDER: That's an excellent platform but I'd be happier if it were a 6x6 for speed. You do know tracks have a limited lifespan depending on the surface, rocks, sand mud or tarmac each of which abrades the tracks which must then be replaced after a certain mileage. A question:is the 23 mm turret stabilised? If not its more of an area suppression weapon! |

CNS MEETS SENATE COMMITTEE ON THE NAVY, PLEDGES EFFECTIVE MARITIME SECURITY by dinfo The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has affirmed the readiness of the Nigerian Navy (NN) to secure the nation’s economic lifelines at sea. Speaking during an interactive session with members of the Senate Committee on the Navy, Vice Admiral Ibas further submitted that if the necessary platforms and material are available, the Service remains capable of doing even more to safeguard the nation’s maritime environment. While being mindful of the financial constraints of the Federal Government of Nigeria, Admiral Ibas stressed that any expenditure on the NN is an investment towards enhancing the nation’s economic and national development. He therefore solicited the support of the Committee towards the realization of this objective. According to the CNS, with the support of the Federal Government, the NN has been able to acquire offshore patrol vessels, fast attack craft and more than 300 riverine patrol crafts while concurrent effort is also being made to encourage operational training and indigenous shipbuilding capacity. This, he informed, has paid off with the arrest of over 200 vessels and hundreds of suspects for various maritime offences in the last 4 years, aside the incalculable deterrence value created. Vice Admiral Ibas submitted that over the past few years, the NN has also made significant contributions to the nation’s economic development, particularly in the protection of the nation’s hydrocarbon infrastructure and curbing resource theft at sea. Others are in anti-piracy operations and the anti-smuggling patrols which have limited the smuggling of prohibited items into the country and given bite to the nation’s policy against illegal importation of rice and other contrabands with a successive decline in reported cases of pirate/sea robbery attacks within Nigeria’s maritime domain since 2015, he said. The CNS observed that despite these positive gains, there are a number of challenges militating against NN’s effective delivery including the vastness of Nigeria’s maritime space and the current NN platform holding which is inadequate to effectively protect the domain and its strategic resources. He said that more ships with prolonged endurance such as Offshore Patrol Vessels are specially required for deep offshore operations. |

joshjc: You didn't offend any body sir. To your previous question, no you can't. Age limit for the Nigeria defence academy is 17-19 for the Navy and airforce, while the army is 17-20. Any thing beyond that is illegal and defaulters are liable to civil persecutions. |
