hollowpot15684: When u say "illegal importation", which products are u referring? Are u telling me that d only thing that happens at d borders is "illegal importation"? Pls what is d job of d Nigerian customs service? Is it because an open border that our local rice farmers can't perform? What is d volume of local production compared to consumption? Apart from rice, what other reason were d borders closed or is it because of rice d govt closed d border? |

lexy2014:You are not getting the point, do the US smuggle those cars into their country? Do they import food or plastic rubbers? Do we close our border against importation of cars and mechineries? |
Re: IMF Backs Nigeria On Border Closure by lexy2014: 9:21pm On Oct 19, 2019 |
buhariguy: I get it cos u aren't even communicating cos it seems u arent sure of what u saying? These were ur exact words that I responded to: "can US allowed anything they can produce to enter into their country? Especially food" Or don't u no d meaning of what u said? D reason 4 international trade is so that countries can produce products at which they have a comparative advantage which they can now exchange for products they don't produce. because of that no country is self sufficient depending on d level of local demand compared with local production and food production isn't an exception. So yes, d US imports food and other products that its local production can't adequately satisfy. U are asking this: buhariguy: This is y I said u don't even no what u are saying. At present, have d borders been partially closed? Is it only smuggling that takes at our borders? Pls what is d job of our customs? D US u mentioned how do they handle smuggling? Is it by closing their borders? |
Re: IMF Backs Nigeria On Border Closure by buhariguy(m): 9:22pm On Oct 19, 2019 |
lexy2014:As i said before, you are confuse, you dont really get the point. is to also eliminate ilegal importation of everythings like illegal arms , foods, plastic rubbers etc, if you must import, do it thru the right channel like seaport, other ecowas countries should stop using nigeria as dumping site. 1 Like |

buhariguy: Oga u jumped into a comment I made without being able to answer any question I asked. What is d job of d Nigerian customs service? Since u don't no that, then what exactly are arguing for? How do other countries handle and combat smuggling? Is it by closing their borders? Unfortunately u said buhariguy: This is d most laughable and pedestrian comment I have read all day. What do u mean by "right channel"? What makes importation by land a wrong channel? What are land borders meant 4? What is ECOWAS about in d first place? Aren't u seeing that u don't even no what u are saying? |

buhariguy: Na wa oh. Are u actually reading what u typing? What do u mean by "the right channel"? How do other countries handle imports? How is border now d same thing as "juggle"? Or did u mean to say jungle? Don't u no d meaning of "juggle"? |

PoliticalWitch: Look at how hard you defend Cotonou like you are paid to do so, such sympathy for port of smuggling none for your country! A survey conducted clearly puts apapa ahead of your beloved Cotonou in terms of efficiency, what basis do you parrot their superiority? Sad we share this country with people who take sides with criminals and criminality against us.

obidark: First of, nothing u said answered any of d questions I asked. Instead u have opened up another angle of issues that u still might no little or nothing about. But first, let me leave u with d questions I asked. When u say "illegal importation", which products are u referring? Are u telling me that d only thing that happens at d borders is "illegal importation"? Pls what is d job of d Nigerian customs service? Is it because of an open border that our local rice farmers can't perform? What is d volume of local production compared to consumption? Apart from rice, what other reason were d borders closed or is it because of rice d govt closed d border? Now let me address d things u have said. Pls how vast is d Nigerian border? Pls tell me. Pls tell me how borders are controlled? Is it d entire border that is manned or a small portion? Who told u that European countries don't man their borders? In d case of Nigeria, what is d meaning of ECOWAS and what is it bout? |

Re: IMF Backs Nigeria On Border Closure by lexy2014: 6:08am On Oct 20, 2019 |
obidark: What are u even saying. U asked about food self sufficiency which I told u no country in d world has attained. This is a definition of food self sufficiency. "food self-sufficiency is defined as being able to meet consumption needs (particularly for staple food crops) from own production rather than by buying or importing." For u to b assuming that d US is food self sufficient, shows that u don't no much about what u are arguing. That's a fact 1 Like 1 Share |

obidark: Since u don't no, then what exactly is ur argument? What is d point u are trying to prove since u don't no what u are saying? If u say u don't no how vast d border is, how do u then no that it is too vast to man and control? |

Re: IMF Backs Nigeria On Border Closure by lexy2014: 6:25am On Oct 20, 2019 |
obidark: U have admitted that u are ignorant about d discussion but yet u say am wrong. How can someone who acknowledged his own ignorance b accusing another of being wrong? This is amazing U don't even need to say am wrong. provide superior arguments and facts to counter what I have said. So far, u haven't been able to do that. All d questions I asked u even regarding Nigeria, u couldn't answer any and u say am.wrong. if u don't no anything about a subject, how do then determine that what a person is saying on d subject is wrong? Am not going anywhere with u. Am already somewhere. Its u who needs to understand how to come into a discussion with knowledge not ignorance |
