Do you have a corporate job?
Did you attach a letter of introduction from your company?
What was your account turnover when you did your statement?
What was your account balance?
Was it you alone or family?
Did you do single or multiple?
Did you use a host or you used hotel reservation?
Did you get an introduction letter/ invitation from your host?
Did you state that you've been denied before? How quickly did you reapply?
Did any factor or employment/financial situation change before reapplying?
Did you do a airline reservation that expired within 24hours?

Dear Family, please advice; my brother is about to get married to his SA wife, they met about 3years ago, she was here in Nigeria, done family intros and court and now gone back to prepare for him coming over for the Lobola. He only got passport yet, please, where do we begin in getting a SA Visa? Will he be needing any form of documents from her? Kindly assist. Thanks.

Did your host provide their proof of residence, utility bill? Like Slme recently paid water/data bill?

Does your host have a legal proof of residence that will not expire soon? Visa page / Social Security document

Did the 2.9m in your account enter as a lump sum or built over time?

Other tips:

I think you should also state that you were once denied. They have the record and they usually ask this question on their form. If you said no, then there might be a problem.

In your introduction letter, you might need to state what you do as your work and that you needed a vacation. All countries want to be sure you will leave their country when you are supposed to and that you show a strong tie to your home country. If you can't demonstrate that strong tie to your home country, you will be denied.

That tie often comes as a current employment. Or your host might put in their own invitation letter stating that you will vacate the republic when your Visa expires.

My situation when I applied:

For me, I had to rewrite the letter and resent to my host. It must be convincing.

When I applied for 3 of us, my air reservation was active till the end of my application which was about 5weeks then.

Funds in account was about 900k, but had turnover on the accounts were about 3m showing activity in the account: Frequent Salary Payment. In your case, it may be business payment turnover, revenue and expenses inflows, that currency must show.

When you use hotel reservation, your airline itinerary timelines must tally with when you land in the country, and when you leave.

Also, when denied, SA will always tell you why they denied you. What have been the reasons for all the times, if we can correlate them?

they will normally ask if you have been refused entry into the republic.

People have varying opinion about this, in the sense that denial of visa is different from refusal of entry, therefore making the answer to that question a ‘NO’.

I wonder which is correct.

Well, I want to agree that it is different. Refusal of ENTRY means you turned up at the port of entry but could not enter.

so, it should be NO.

I think it will be Visitor for the main time. Or which do you think is better and stand a better chance? The wife to be works in a government agency there. Every assistant will be most appreciated.

He should apply straight up for relative permit.

So he can have at least 2 years visa. He can then later proceed to applying for a permanent resident permit

Only that he can't work with a relative permit except he gets a sponsor. He might need to read up more on that online

If they have done court wedding, let him apply for spousal visa. The requirements for spousal visa are on the home affairs website. Note spousal visa is different from relative visa.

Don't feel bad about that. You can try other destinations too. You could try Rwanda, Kenya, Dubai and few other destinations. That'll help your situation later. No be spiritual oo. Many people have had their fair share of visa refusals. I can offer you assistance on your next application to SA if you don't mind.

I have tried uk twice, South Africa 4times, I’m confused . I don’t know what to think again. Now I’m scared to travel to Dubai for holiday.. could it be spiritual? Has anyone here gone through this too? Pls I need advice and what to do.

Let him get a Visitors visa if he does not want to get denied. Relative or Spousal visa is a NO for now.

Why should a person who's legally married to a South African citizen apply for visitors visa? Sounds very strange.

the first one was invitation, and I was denied because they said invitation not clear
The second one was in Ghana, through an agent and I was denied
The third one tourist, I was denied because they said “embassy couldn’t verify hotel reservation”
This forth one is invitation too” they wrote “ host’s bank statement transactions inconsistent
Pls help me bro

Im sorry about this.

If you are using a host, please tell them their passport must be very clear and preferably color and also notarized or stamped at the police. My host had to redo it like 3 times. The guys at VFS were very helpful with advice and patience to review ever th document.

The invitation documents should include:
1. Passport showing host Visa/PR/condition of residence and address, which must not expire any time soon

2. Utility bill/showing address that matches item 1.

3. Invitation letter showing your relationship, why you are visiting, duration, start and end date, and that you will return to your country.

4. Host statement of account according to them should be 3months if you are in Lagos, and 6 if in ph.

Also, what can make a bank statement inconsistent? Is it his/her name? Or address? Or cashflow from his type of business? You might need to do your own vetting of the documents and resolve any inconsistencies you may notice before you submit.

I hear that often, Visa officials dont have much time to review documents or even verify them, they just bounce them at the slightest issues.

If you want to do hotel reservation:

they said you must book directly with the hotel. This way, hotel shouldn't be unavailable. The hotels mostly require that you may some fees upfront to book.

Please apply for a visitors visa and not a Relative Permit.
1. With all the ongoing issues surrounding marriages between South African citizens (especially women) and foreign nationals, which is usually tagged marriage of convenience, its a no to relative visa for now.
2. Your brother has not negotiated and paid lobola for the said lady, so according to South African customary laws, they are not married until he’s done that. Presenting a court wedding certificate at the embassy might look like marriage of convenience to the Visa officer since no concrete evidence shows he has fulfilled traditional rites of getting married to the lady.
Find more details about South African laws governing lawful marriage http://www.dha.gov.za/index.php/civic-services/marriage-certificates

He stands a better chance if he applies for a visitors visa and states in his letter of introduction that he wants to go finalize the traditional rites in South Africa. He can later convert his visitors permit to a relative permit after paying the lobola and registering his marriage with Home Affiars. I hope this helps

My last take on this, if your brother is legally married, let him apply for a spousal visa. If there's any issue, she can easily petition home affairs and everything would be easily sorted.

Home affairs would accept any valid marriage certificate that's authenticated by the ministry of foreign affairs

Apply for a Visitors visa and it goes side ways, he's on his own.

For the records, you can't change status from visitors to relative permit.

In fact, you can't convert from visitors visa to anything in South Africa.

We don't have leaders in this country. We only have LOOTERS. This more
reason our youth are looking for ways to travel out by any means. And
even travel to a SHIT HOLE country like South Africa where human life

Na wa o. Sorry for the disappointment but my brother why not start something in Nigeria.

As someone who has travelled, I can tell you for free that it's not that easy in other places. Travelling has its perks no doubt but so does staying back.

If you insist on travelling out for "business". All the best sir.

But I'd advise you start something here in naija, make money & you can visit the world as you like.
