It won't be that simple because an average Yoruba person will be reluctant to vote for a character like Tinubu. This is because he or she won't see Tinubu as a typical Omoluabi that is worthy of being voted for! A character like Awolowo will forever remain and represent what "omoluabisms" stands for among the Yorubas. It will be difficult for anybody to try and change that belief.

Tinubu is quite popular,in fact he is a god among the Yoruba political elite but same cannot be said about his popularity among the common Yoruba populace who are in the majority. He is a well respected political institution and quite intelligent, no doubt about it but he still has to re- strategize and find a way of warming himself to the heart of the common Yoruba man on the street.

There is high sense of moral values and regard for certain virtues among the Yoruba people. They may shock some of the people currently campaigning for Tinubu by turning their back against him come 2023 if he comes out to contest.

Check all the listed elections that featured a Yoruba interest, the candidates won at least 85% of the SW votes.

Now to 2023, I would advise Tinubu not to contest not because he is not capable but because we need someone to sell to the young population of the SW. I will prefer Osinbajo or Fashola. These guys will comfortably win 85% of the vote in the SW without too much campaign or rigging.

But election is always a competition between two people, if APC eventually brings Tinubu as its
flag bearer, then the Yoruba won’t have a choice that to vote Tinubu, infact the Tinubu bloc will deploy lot of machineries in the SW that will make even the opposition fret. Who tells you we can’t have figures of 15million voters in the SW?? It’s possible with federal might.

I agree with you absolutely. In fact I wanted to suggest same in my earlier post. There is no doubt about it,Yoruba stands better chance of clinching the presidency come 2023.

There are two schools of political thought in Yorubaland.

1. Awo class
2. Tinubu class.

Tinubu himself is a product of Awo class of political thought, and with touch of modernity has churned out new products of political leadership.

All the current State Governors in SW are using his template. Add Kwara State Governor. Out of all them so far Gov Abdulrazaq of Kwara leads performance, followed by Governor Sanwo Olu of Lagos.

All the past Governors of SW used Tinubu template except Mimiko who used the Awo template.

In Buhari Administration no less than 10 Executives - VP, Ministers and DGs are in the Tinubu class.

How do you hope to nominate anyone from SW outside the Tinubu cycle of influence?

Tinubu does not need to be in Presidency, his template will be used to run the Presidency.

brother..I will never vote for Tinubu,neither will my family and thousands of other Swesterners..so if APC present Tinubu,they have lost already.
Tinubu and his people has stepped a lot on other people's toe in sw,and if he is the candidate,he will be gladly paid back in his own coin by a lot of Yoruba people...and APC might even lost sw apart from Lagos.
I'm from Osun state, we endure 8 Years of hardship under Mr Aregbe,tinubu candidate,you think some of us have forgotten that?
and apart from coming to campaign during elections,when has Tinubu come to osun state talkless of standing for us despite all the mishap of aregbe's govt..
The story is the same all over SW states...imposed criminals who misgoverned Sw making us to be the most indebted region,don't pay salaries,don't pay pensions, focus only on their town( and state capital) and leave the rests of the state to rot...
