Why won't FG compensate the land owners afterall the so called 2nd niger bridge will be tolled when completed and the money paid into government coffers. So it's either they pay for the land or they forget about the project entirely. QED 1 Like 1 Share |

Yusuf4: Go and check very well... Government/contractors always compensate owners of lands that are affected by projects... But this one is an outrageous demand of N50m each from about 10 communities located around the project area, not necessarily even affected by the project. The idea of give us jobs before executing projects is also archaic. 3 Likes |

MetaPhysical: community elders in South east and south south are just like agbero in South west. They are lazy, greedy and alcoholics. They display their greedines in every possible way-burial,marriage and projects. They would collect money from anybody that wants to do anything in community and use the money to drink alcohol. nonsense 3 Likes |

BuhariAdvocate: Contractors are not the ones to pay compensation they are there to do a job, they have an agreement with the government, not the communities. If there is compensation to be paid that will be the federal government. 1 Like 1 Share |

The kind of hatreds in this nairaland eeh? Just because they think this might be because of 2nd Niger bridge, U see all children of haters coming out to pour out their support for anything they think will hurt Igbos. So sorry for all of you. Is there no one here who will say it's not in the constitution that Govt should compensate land owners before taking up their lands for govt project? You people's brother Sowore is in jail rotting away. Fear could not allow any Yoruba man to go and bail him. If 2nd Niger bridge is stopped today, it doesn't and will never affect Igbos and their lives and businesses in any way. So these children that are here rejoicing better go and work, make money and live a good life. 1 Like |

SirVintageCock:But I dont understand the land owners compensation narrative most of you are complaining here. Did the land owners said they were not compensated? There was a press release by the communities affected and the thread was here on nairaland. No issue of land compensation was mentioned in that statement. The issues were about minor contracts like sand supply and locals employment. This statement by FG is not just not about SE but everywhere and is not just about land compensation but other "undue demands" whatever that means. 3 Likes |

This has nothing to do with compensation. Compensation for land is paid before any project kicks off. This is about rent seeking. Settle us before we allow you to work The highest form of madness given that these jokers are already benefiting. Any major project in your area means people with cash to spend. On beer, foods, olosho , etc. They communities are already experiencing a massive cash influx, which is what happens with projects anywhere It is very surprising that the same people who brag about igbos being independent supermen, the master tribe as I used to sarcastically say in the past, are joining the wretched masses of Omo oniles in thuggish begging. 2 Likes |

BuhariAdvocate:So because it didn't start today we should allow it to continue? Buhari's government might be clueless but this is the best move. If you don't need any project in your place others will collect it. Nice move. 1 Like |
