YES

Wow I'm so glad to hear this!
I'm applying DE with my ond result with a cgpa of 3.27 into Buk for MLS.
I'm having serious doubts cuz I'm hearing the chances of being given MLS would have been higher if I was applying through jamb instead of DE. What do you think sir?
I don't like biochem or microbiology
Re: Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum by johnsonm2g: 6:57pm On Oct 24, 2019
Do BUK accept OND for DE into MLS? please check the Jamb brochure well before you apply; in order not to waste money and time.

No unit or option. They re just formality. Cox when you re into the labour market is mls they will know you will have to live to per and perform all the role of medical lab scientist.
Choose any option.

choose the option that you know you are more grounded in academically so you can graduate with a good grade. In the outside world you are a medlab scientist and expected to be all round practically. That is why interns do rotation in all specialty to sharpen your practical skills, only government hospitals have different labs for each unit, otherwise it is a always a medical laboratory and all have equal opportunities

The chances of any university accepting an OND for DE to medlab is very slim. Your best option is to prepare for the next UTME and fill in medlab if that is what you want

It's not slim. OND, SLT is widely accepted for DE into medical laboratory science. However, he should take UTME as well to stand a better chance. This is because the number of DE candidates with OND, SLT is always higher. He should also apply to a state university. If he's in the East, he should apply to UNN. With 270 in its post-DE screening, he'll be offered DE admission into medical laboratory science. Post-DE screening is taken in September or October at the main UNN campus. It's also easy to get 270 in the post- DE screening. Post-UTME screening is for JAMBites while post-DE is for DE candidates.

You can. Just do well in it. Graduate with upper credit, then purchase a direct entry form, and choose UNN. You'll be offered DE admission into medical laboratory science, after scoring 270 or more in it's DE screening. But since you're about to start the OND programme, you can as well sit for UTME again. Don't throw away the OND programme; continue being in the programme while taking another UTME.

Correct guy! U are the best career advicer i have ever met here on naira land. I hope u remember me. I'm still preparing for DE/JAMB exams next year. But i hope if i choose MLS for both forms for Unn, it won't affect me?

Well said. But SLT OND is not widely accepted into MLS Program by all universities.
E.g UI only consider HND/BSc.
Some universities don't accept @ all, some accepted dem into 100L.
I don't know of Northern skuz.

You are not Entirely correct because Most DE in my Class are not SLT.
But your Advice is Sound.

I am speaking based on my experience from my Alma mata Uniben. All DE students I know before, during and after my set were all BSC and HND holders.

You can't use UNIBEN to generalize. Other universities accept it willingly. Most people (I know) that applied for medical laboratory science via DE did it because they are not degree and HND holders. They're all OND holders. UNN accepts it willingly.

Must every DE candidate into medical laboratory science be SLT holders? Did you see where I said that. Of course, some will be degree and HND holders. The guy said that OND SLT holders are no longer considered for DE admission into medical laboratory science, and I countered it.
