Not unusual for kids of opposite gender to have feelings for each other. It does not have to be sexual. My crush then while at primary school at ADRAO International was Iyabo. I was probably around 8-10yrs cause I started school early. I didn't really expressed it to her but showed it in a different but crude way by doing stupid stuffs to taunt her along the school corridors.. Funny enough I ran into her many years later at a Jamb exam center. She was still so beautiful. I still have memories of her face in my head. That was such a long time ago. Writing letter is another level. I wouldn't have done that because I was sure some adults or our class teacher will see it. Like the case of a classmate in high school (Sola) who was called out by the principal in the morning assembly because a love-letter sent by Sola's girlfriend from another school ended up in the hand of the principal. Ask me how? The principal and poor Sola share a very similar surname with almost the same prefix. One is "Oshun" and the other is "Oshin". I guess the mailman thought the letter was for the principal. Sola's nickname from that day onward was "Loverboy". It was one of the oldest (all boy) schools in Nigeria that's located in Lagos. If I happen to run into Sola today, the first word that will come out of my mouth is "Loverboy".

hypocrite ni gbogbo yin, at that age I also had feelings for Linda that year in Benin but I could not express myself all I did was stare we were 8/9 then, I like the courage of that lil girl she was able to express her feelings in papers although if na me I will go to her school and make sure I talk her and my child out of it with strict warning no flogging

But what I found baffling in her letter is the level of love/dating triangle they are all involved omo me sef fo at their age what if the are off age... potential fiance/husband/bf snatcher

I got a love letter from a pretty girl in school that year. I was feeling so good about myself till I got a rude awakening... The chick had written the same damn letter to 5 other guys in school.

What shocked me wasn't the duplicity (I was also a player)... Rather, the fact that she didn't have the commonsense or presence of mind to edit the bloody letters... It was the same thing to each guy, word for word, punctuation for punctuation.

That was early secondary school... My guard went up since then, and never dropped till date... Never!!!... Loyalty ain't for Negroes!!! Tueh!!!

Simply a work of telemondo, zee world,the are too exposed to such programs hence they are practicing it.when I was 9 I use to drive Tyres and construct wooden cars with corns sticks, voltrone, tells by moon light, things fall apart and so many more where our favourite TV programs. That goes to show how this country and the world in general has lost it values . Norway days some children partake in watching big brother Africa and all those love programs, tell me why a 9 year old child won't be talking abt love .civilization is a blessing and a curse....

The arrival of my best friend Dele from the US changed all that. Dude is darker than kiwi polish and as handsome as the old Egyptian gods. But instead of being rivals,our love for novels made us besties,till he left.

I learnt a lesson during that period that has helped me till date.

It's too much kids TV show, especially Nickelodeon's teen shows. All those boy and girl. Kissing and you will see their parent smile or even tease them. Haba! In Africa is different, now kids watch these shows and since parent allow them to watch it, they feel it's ok, but as a parent let them know it's not ok oh.

Same incident occur at my neighbours and they called her to come to his son school, the headteacher showed her the letter her son wrote to a girl and the girl showed the mother. She apologised and when she got home eh, the beating she gave the boy (9yrs) nah fellow neighbour save the boy.

And parents should stop teasing their toddlers with '''this is you husband, or wife" pls allow them to be kids joor. All this talk gets into the child head and he or she thinks it's ok to have boyfriend or girlfriend (love) even in kindergarten.

Let's try our best and God will see us through.

it was never sexual, most times it's so you could have her as a sit partner & play with or someone you can show your toys to, or someone whom you can share your snacks with (if you are the type that had fancy snacks like chocolates and cookies).
