So it was Igbo that introduced no secession so they can dominate everyone

When the 1954 constitution conference started, my good friend, Chief Obafemi Awolowo tabled a motion to the effect that in the new constitution, provision should be made that any state which feels like seceding should do so. I was opposed to it and said ‘no’ and said that once we have a federation, we are indivisible and perpetual.

That was when we began to use that expression – ‘The Indivisibility and perpetuity of the federation’ – and that to secede would amount to treason. And so, a debate ensued.

The Secretary of State then was Oliver Littleton, later Lord Chandos and he was very much interested and that was his first time in saying that the people of African descent were people actually debating at a high level.

So a full day was given to Chief Awolowo to make his points. He spoke brilliantly as a lawyer. He made his points why secession should be incorporated in the constitution. He cited the case of the Soviet Union which is a federation, and that secession is written there so that any state in the Soviet Union can secede at will. He also cited the case of Western Australia and eventually he finished his case and was applauded.

But now, secession is an abomination..but back then,Zik and his people found the continued unity and development of the country acceptable.but when horrible attrocities escalated , the same people turned around and aimed at secession.while Awolowo and his people fought for the integrity of Nigeria.but why did Awolowo swing round to wear the garb of unity? Because he found the continued unity and development of the country acceptable.Nevertheless ,all blamable on the south Eastern.

If you guys dug up this crap just to start bashing the Igbos, just know that the Igbos then never took Zik seriously because of his stance on the indivisibility of Nigeria. Zik's understanding of Nigeria was never realistic as the country was never ready for unity....he lived in a cloud cuckoo land.

Conversely, regardless of how any tribe sees Ojukwu, the Igbo nation held him (and will continue to hold him) in high esteem even in death. His standpoint reflected how majority of Nigerian leaders perceived the country when they held sway...he was down to earth.

While Zik strived to engender Nigerianness, which was vague, Ojukwu was parochial in his approach to leadership. Today, Nigeria celebrates Zik while the Igbos adore Ojukwu even in death.

Shut up!
Ojukwu is even worse than ZiK. It was Ojukwu that coined the word SUPREME after Ibo seized power at gun point, and then directed Ironsi to label his Military Cabinet the "SUPREME MILITARY COUNCIL". Ojukwu believed in the supremacy of Ibo like Zik did.

Ojukwu was ambitious to make the entire Southern Region and Ibo territory, a Biafran country. This was his mission for heading West. He had opportunity to head North to avenge death and massacre of his people but focused on his selfishness goal instead.

@ the first bolded, how many Igbos Protested or spoke up against his decision on one Nigeria, he wasn't even the only Igbo politician.

@the second, why did he and Ironsi clamp down on Adaka Boro's Niger Delta republic, don't you think if Adaka Boro was not attacked and arrested for treason and left to go on with his idea, Ojukwu quest for Biafra would've been easier because there's already a precedent.

Both men including Ironsi committed blunders in our nation's history

In all Ziks writing it's very obvious he over estimated himself, or perhaps his people over estimated his intellect.
All his political moves were solely meant to checkmate Awolowo.
He pretended to be in love with the North just to keep control over the west.
I'm glad it all unravelled while he was alive
