o ne truth is guys in dia teens n early twenties are most prone or tempted to join frats because dey think its d fad. ordinarily campus frats shouldn't be violence and vice. i mean look at d campus frats in d US. some of these frats are as old as 100 yrs, yet dey all maintain civility irrespective of dia rivalry. dey operate a fraternal system in which members after initiation are encouraged to beef up dia acada, mentor each other n fight dia battles with solid reasoning and sound arguments. many frat men in the US are prominent citizens who are role models for younger ones. back home in Nigeria we all know the story. i wont overflog it but i want to address d impression that some misguided fellows have comparing our campus frats to that in the US. the reality is that even though the American system influenced Soyinka's conception of the seadogs, what later evolved bears no semblance to American campus frats. what we have in substance n structure is rather modelled after american street gangs. where do u tink our cults got d concept of flying colours, or beating during ini? they got these concepts from gangs! earlier in d days frats only jaw jaw or skirmished without killing, but later following d gang tradition of d US, they started killing. Like we all know, Nigerians are very good at learning everything bad n useless e. g Big brother. before i drop this off let me say dis. as a member of anti cult, i got close n personal with members of different frats n of all of dem, the only one dat seemed to have d potential for been different was d nbm. even though they are nothing more dan a criminal group.
let me explain. nbm is d only frat dat made a deliberate attempt in name n ideology to represent noble ideals. i mean who can argue with d concepts of blackism, uhuru, n d rest (for ur info uhuru is Swahili for freedom) d clashing of fists or d forearm (it was borrowed from liberation movements in ethopia) these ideals in themselves are noble but i believe nbm was derailed by dia supremacy battle with d bucaneers at uniben (deh called dem bats) infact old nbm men will tell u dat d most hated enemy of nbm is bucaneers not eiye which started to battle dem later. now, how can u hate d devil but love his ways? nbm claimed d bats were oppressors yet dey derived dia earlier orientation for initiation n d rest from bucaneers. dey did nothing different from d bucaneers n at d end every schism dat happened only led to more stupid groups. there is a frat dat calls themselves second son of satan. anoda tags itself mgba mgba confrateniety. i mean can u believe that shiit? d most curious thing is how our campus frats by dia actions turn dia members into juju worshippers. kk serves ogor, nbm kf, vk worships odin. i mean common. u are born into a xtian or muslim home n next thing u are in d bush dancing to one useless juju wey never baff. n many of these poor thinking yuuts think its cool. believe me its not.
sadly cultism is here to stay. d day we eradicate prostitution is d day cultism is end. we can only manage d disease. unfortunately, d heads of these frats want to continue in d old ways of carnage n blood letting. as an anti cult guy, i saw fadas cry wen we took dem to d morgue to see dia dead sons. I saw boys always on d run either from us or from rival gangs. i saw the bunch of these cultists for who dey really are. mindless arseholes who are not worth having as friends. dey have nothing to offer. only trouble. so if u still a student focus on ur acada, avoids joints dat cultists go, stay away from dia gatherings. ask questions well before u move into a lodge n mind d kind of girl u call ur babe on campus. sorry for d epistle. over n out.

Thanks for this epistle Allan2. Cultism in Nigeria is nothing but street gangs, just like blood and crips in the USA. quite annoying it had to be in a tertiary institution. Right now they are meeting up to their potential by having crime rings of fraud, assassination, drugs and other crimes in and outside Nigeria. 70% of drug runners outside Nigeria are member of a confraternity here. Wasn't there a news recently from Italy that Eiye is growing to become the biggest black mafia in Europe? I think the bottom line is for every youth to make their choice. You want a life of crime and no professional future, join cultism. If you want something else, follow the normal path. Cultism is here to stay, but I pray government makes a strong hand someday and makes these groups illegal. As in Davido shout egede tomorrow, he serves time in jail. Until then, we just have to keep telling our own and close ones to avoid this stupid plague.

I saw this trend about 3days ago that I so much became fascinated that I had to save this page. Saynotocultism, thanking you for sharing your story to at least let some people see the dangers in joining one.

I was only able to read to 10,but it was worth my time within the last 3days I have being reading. Special mention to I am Nobody for your continuous contribution.

Cultism can never be a choice, the youth should pls desist. I am a graduate since 2015,so if I add my voice to some saying no to cultism, you should no I have seen some instances even thou I am not a member.

I remember two particular guys that wanted me to join in year 2011. Today,I am a graduate, but one of those guys I talked about is near mad in the street of Akure today. The other whose father was a pastor ran away from Ondo state to save his head.

Youth,pls be wise.

I am nobody is enthronedbyGod you can read his own thread on the spiritual side to cultism. The link to the thread has been shared here by various monikers

boss, you see,i suspected from the very onset that those kids were cultists who must have been on a very bad mission..

Legit students(i mean real students who are non-cultists)don't have the nerve to go and bust another student in his lodge, they might have beef, but taking it to the extent of going with two or three boys(they call it squad in cultist's parlance)to harass another student in his own lodge, real students don't do that.it's only cultists that have that kind of foolish confidence. Legit students fear of the security so-much, they won't think of going in this direction.

2)report said they leave with the victim's(the dude they went to meet in his house)phone. Ask from those in the know, cultists have the strange habit of collecting their target's phones(especially if it's a clean smartphone.they collect it from their and sell at ridiculous price, some cultists refer to it as 'obtaining'. If you don't believe, ask from people who are familiar with how cultists operate, they'd confirm it).

3)i heard some weapons were found on them,i don't know how true this is. But if it's true,my brother, now that's a very strong indication you've got hardened cultists on a really bad mission. Legit students don't go with weapons(not even a machete).most students will prefer to use the money to purchase a cutlass to buy food or play sports bets or even spend it on a lady in order to win her heart.

4)notice all through the beatings, non of their fellow students came to their aid. My guess, those four spoilt kids have terrorise import so much that even their fellow students will be glad an avenue came to dispose them. Trust me,in a full session, you dare not lay hands on a student, because his fellow students will Wade in to defend him.(unless the student is so bad into cultism that even his colleagues are play with whatever happens to him). Go to a student environment, you'd notice the students have so much confidence, some kids among them don't even run from cars, that's because they know their colleagues have gotten their back.

5)the person who shouted theif is another indication that those boys are actually cultists, they must have entered that house in such a bizarre way that someone was so scared and confused, the only thing he can do is to scream 'theif' loudly. Only cultists(and some SARS officers, but the SARS officers can be easily identified)enter a student lodge/another man's house in such a way that the inhabitants will be so scared.

i think this should be the longest post I've ever made since joining this forum typing sef hard me somehow.

Out of these five points you raised, only one is valid and that's the one about weapons( if indeed weapons were found on them)

The other four are simply hogwash. Let's analyse them.

1. What makes you think it's only cultists that have the nerve to go and bust a debtor in his lodge? It's a risky venture but even normal students do it.

2. It's a normal thing in student environment to collect items in lieu of payment/debt. E.g I dey owe you 10k collect my sound system when I get money I come give you collect am. Heck! Even my landlord way back in school would seize your laptop till you pay his house rent.

4.Mob action isn't something you can easily control, how do you expect students to come to their aid when they've been labelled thief by the same students?

5. This last point is funny really, so if someone enters a compound in a way that scares you, you'll call the person a thief and beat, kill him or her without knowing what the person's mission is?

It's okay for you to opine that they could have been thieves that's your opinion but those reasons you listed don't cut it at all.

dont just call out NBM. BAN, green beret, black beret, and all the other street gangs calling themselves frats should be eternally named n shamed. one bright boy den at a particular campus in d southeast choose to join BAN in his 300l kid was doing well in his acada. na so dem carry am make waka. guy ended up dead during ini. daddy came to school n cried like shit. as sad as it was, we had a chance to raid BAN boys. bf na only baggers n axemen dey fall enter trap but this time fine boys wowo by force. once we i. d u, its mending n officing. power always leaves a sweet taste in d tongue. we finally caught dia cap or watever d hell dey call themselves, n bundled him to our lodge. stripped n locked him up. I took my turn to humble d guy too. at d end, who don leggo don leggo. what we did next is highly classified.

Bros somethings you don't know. Nigeria is high level. You need to make more friends out of your current circle. I won't say everything.

If you think Nigeria LEA are lagging in tech, then you are a learner. In case you don't know, during Abacha days, some of our men were trained by IDF and their clandestine counterpart.
