lol, just as Ghanaians and Cameroonians can use Nigerian waterways today.
River Niger is already an International Water. There is a fully functional Niger River Port in "Landlocked" Mali. Google it. The only reasons they don't sail out through Nigeria's end of the River Niger is Piracy, Non Dredging/draft, the snaking of routes in the creeks , but more because of distance. It is faster to exit the continent on the other end of the River Niger for Mali and other landlocked Countries using the River Niger.

The article mentioned that all of them were initially against not putting the seccession clause but somehow Zik had his way against their own judgment and you say it's not weakness? It means they were unsure of themselves!
wirinet:

Not week leaders, naive leaders. Zik convinced his childhood friend Sir Ahmadu Bello, through a letter, to reject separate countries and secession clause. Once Ahmadu bello came on board one indivisible Nigeria slogan promoted by Zik, there was nothing Awolowo could do.

Awolowo, Amadu Bello, Enahoro, Balewa all wanted seccession clause but only one man Zik opposed them and had his way? What kind of fuckery is this? If this is true it shows they were extremely weak leaders!

Well, at least we have a rational thinker here.

Just accept that Zik was a super man with a super human ability to persuade and "confess" people into doing things, even against their own wish. #Okwu agwula grin

Good enough but why are his people, the Igbos complaining today?
Why can't they accept that their Zik was a Superman, even IPOB had lashed out at him and the zikist movement for refusing the de-amalgamation as suggested by Ahmadu Bello and equally refused the referendum and secession as suggested by Awolowo.

Who are those crying for referendum and secession today?
Zik was myopic and lacked foresight to see into the future because he wanted to be the leader of the most populous black nation on earth.

Lol, indeed.
Let Niger and Mali sail their ships through the Niger river into Nigeria without any prior agreement and see what happens, anyway they ain't that daft to try such in the first place.

It's one of the funniest things I ever heard in my life. That one man, Zik, held the constitution of Nigeria in his bedroom and decided what was included in it and what was removed.

Nigerians pick up the map of Nigeria and look at it but what they dont see are the water ways. If you look at a proper map of Nigeria with its water ways, you will see that Oguta in Imo state and Obuaku in Abia state have tributaries that run from them to the Atlantic Ocean. River posts can be built in those two places in addition to the one that already exists in Onitsha.

Portharcourt has a Sea port but that port is not even by the Sea

Let's say for example that the 5 SE states is what eventually becomes Republic Of Biafra, Nigeria cannot stop Biafra building River ports in Obuaku and Oguta nor deny them access to the Sea via those ports.

The simple reason is that Article 125 of UNCLOS mandates Nigeria to give Biafra access to Sea via Biafran water ways. That same UNCLOS is what gives Nigeria the right to its territorial waters. So Nigeria cannot choose to uphold one part of the law and ignore the other part.

Article 125 of UCLOS states:
Article 125
Right of access to and from the sea and freedom of transit
1. Land-locked States shall have the right of access to and from the sea
for the purpose of exercising the rights provided for in this Convention
including those relating to the freedom of the high seas and the common
heritage of mankind. To this end, land-locked States shall enjoy freedom of
transit through the territory of transit States by all means of transport.
2. The terms and modalities for exercising freedom of transit shall be
agreed between the land-locked States and transit States concerned through
bilateral, subregional or regional agreements.
3. Transit States, in the exercise of their full sovereignty over their
territory, shall have the right to take all measures necessary to ensure that the
rights and facilities provided for in this Part for land-locked States shall in no
way infringe their legitimate interests

So anybody who thinks that Nigeria will have the right to bottle up Biafra and deny it access to the sea is just a dreamer
Stop boring us already with your charters abeg, Nigeria has exclusive right to the sea, 12 Nautical miles from her coast and no country can use it including the US, Russia, Britain, China etc without a permission from Nigeria.

Niger republic is landlocked yet Nigeria closed her border and seaports to her, why is Niger not sueing Nigeria, maybe you feel that world politics revolves around charters that can be revoked at the drop of a pen.

Your number 2 point is what I've been trying to tell you all the while, you must have an agreement with Nigeria before using her land and territorial waters at sea.

I am not saying you guys are wrong but I'm saying if Amadu Bello, Balewa, Awolowo, Enahoro really believed it was necessary to add the clause, how then can they allow one man against 4 to have his way? Unless they weren't convinced themselves! They were all responsible either by commision or omission!

You just blinded with hate...
I don't dispute the fact that Biafra( provided it comprises of only Igbo extraction) would feel the pain, of course she's a newbie,, but I can assure you 10years later they would be greater than Nigeria ....

You can enact all your vile laws on those of them that would be residing in different part of Nigeria, thier properties, business , et al. Truth is it's would kill your FDI, your sea port in Lagos and PH would shut down, because you would force them to find another partner...

Talking about market size,, the Igbos have it,, ONITSHA, ABA in subsequent years would be bigger than Lagos.....

Fund allocated would be utilize for it sole purpose,, the impact of the budget would be felt everywhere.. Not like Nigeria that would allocate 3.1bn for just presidential voyages...Cost of governance would be drastically reduced unlike Nigeria,, their industries would be highly functional...

Bleep oil....!
UK doesn't have oil but is better than Nigeria..
Do you know IMO AND ABIA STATE also have oil..?
If Nigeria like they should close all her borders, the igbos are extremely productive and resourceful unlike Niger and Benin republic that depend on Nigeria, the Igbos don't ...

....and truth is in that ten years of unprecedented growth Nigeria won't grow because she would still be engulf in ethnic and religious rift,,, the hausa-fulani would still want to continue with thier hegemony which won't continue for long... The south south too would want to secede, every part of the country would be trembling... The fight of which ethnic extraction should be president.....

Guy just forget it .......
If the Igbos should go,
Nigeria won't survive the shock.....
That move would automatically call for secession by other ethnicity........

Mind you I don't support Biafra....
But they are still my brothers/family
Stop talking like Nigeria would overwhelm them if worse come to worse..........
Can your Nigeria with all her geography, work force, military might challenge Israel (one small country that her workforce isn't up to 35million)
Your peoples are the founders of hatred in Nigeria and to Nigerian.
This is not just a Karma but the hands of God.

You are wrong for 3 reasons.

Firstly, it is not a must that an area must have a coastline before becoming an independent country. There are over 40 landlocked countries in the world and many of them are doing well. Switzerland is a landlocked country of just 8 million people but Switzerland is richer than Nigeria

Secondly, even if Igbo land was in the centre of Nigeria, which it isnt, it still does not stop it bring an independent country. Lesotho and Swaziland are two independence countries, yet both of them are inside South Africa

Thirdly, it depends on what you mean by Niger Delta. If by Niger Delta you mean states like Delta state and Rivers state then it might shock to know that Nigeria actually has 7 Igbo Governors.

1. Wille Obiano
2. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
3. Ifeanyi Okowa
4 Emeka Ihedioha
5. Dave Umahi
6. Nyesom Ezebunwo Wile
7. Okezue Ikpeazu

Many Nigerians have been brainwashed into believing that Igbo land is limited to the South East. In reality, large tracts of Igbo land were used to make up the population of Delta, Benue and Rivers state.

The real map of Igbo land which was drawn by the colonial master when the came to West Africa is below and it can be seen that it not landlocked. Many people dont even know that much of Portharcourt belongs to the Ikwerre-Igbo people

Igbos can be an independent nation with no problem and they are better off out of the failed disaster of a country called Nigeria

The American gives power to Obama as the president of the united States shows exposure of the real would civilization not that Barack, was actually an American.
Same to the governor of Delta state, this is the reason you people will remains irritating to us based on your mindset.

Nobody gives a sh*t about Akwa Ibom you attention seeking idiot, Biafra is, has always been, and will always be an strictly Igbo speaking affair with sympathies, support, or inclusion through referendum by others willing to join. These idiotic narrative that Igbos are coercing you minorities is getting irritating already, maybe the few useless Igbos who are doing it are the ones making you clowns think the generality of us want you in Biafra, don't get it confused cause on average... we no send una... infact the useless deviants in Ipob who are in the habit of including non-Igbo speaking areas of the former Eastern region in the Biafran map have been sternly warned about it... cause every irrelevant Tom, Dick, and Harry who were never even in the Biafran plan now see and use every opportunity to insult all Igbos cause of the crazy opinion of a few... that has to stop, enough is enough.

And better be careful how you lump the whole Niger Delta into your hackneyed agenda, there are Igbos in the so called South South (I happen to be one) who proudly identify with the Igbo consciousness, and will bleed or die for it if need be! so better speak ONLY for your Ibibio tribe (even though I know Ibibio people have been good neighbors and friends to the Igbos for centuries)...

Igbo's in the south south or in not Niger Delta?

Oh pulease...do yourself a favour and shut da hell up!

You're probably one of the other anti-Igbo/Biafra fools that's been on this thread all along, but now switched to one of your 'we south-south' monikers since the other ones were getting beat silly!

If it doesn't make sense it's not normally true! No true son of Akwa-Ibom would spout this tripe of 'you Igbo got my people killed', while leaving the main culprits and instigators/actors of the pogrom up north in '66 that eventually led to the war! You conveniently overlook the efforts made by the East to avoid war (Aburi accord) which were promptly rejected the moment Gowon returned to Nigeria and presented it to his Fulani masters! You conveniently forget that killings of easterners (yes, not just Igbos were slaughtered up north) continued unabated even after Ojukwu told them the Gowon gov't had assured they would put an end to it!

Can you explain how Biafra or Ndigbo intend to 'use' the Ibibio in the event of a seperation from Nigeria? Explain how in this day and age, the Igbo will force the Ibibio to do anything they don't wanna do! You keep on bleating like a goat about a feared Igbo 'domination' in Biafra, but you're doing nada about the Fulani domination that's real, live and in your face as we speak! Explain how Igbo will 'dominate' the Ibibio when all ethnicities/nations would be joining the newly emergent nation as equal partners....that is assuming the Ibibio elect to go with Biafra and not stay to continue their 'love affair' with the kindly and fairminded Fulani in Nigeria!

And for your information, i'm also from that Niger Delta of which you speak, so look for another excuse!

O boy,While we means Niger Delta we meant the natives origin not half born or migrants in our Ama,you de me Oooo.
