A study of the voting trends in the recently held 3019 elections will reveal that PDP comfortably has two regions(SE/SS) in its control and in spite of Tinubu's famed political sagacity,

you can see the future in 3019

Are we talking about the same Kwakwaso that couldn't win his senatorial District election?
Kwakwaso is more popular than Atiku and Tambual in the north.

Very interesting speculations. Any major party that refuse to zone its ticket to the south is heading towards political doom. I want to believe that reasonable people are still in PDP and common sense will prevail at the end of the day.

Is he? Need I tell u that as an incumbent governor, Kwakwanso lost reelection in 2003? In 2011, he won due to d internal wranglings in Kano CPC and his senatorial election in 2015 can be attributed to the Buhari factor. D only time Kwakwanso has stood independently against a formidable Buhari party, he lost woefully. Does this point to a popular candidate?

No Northern politician as of today is more popular than Buhari but Kwakwaso is quite popular.

The last governorship election in Kano is a story for another day.

I don't pity Nigerians. Sane minds voting for Buhari as their President in this millennium is ridiculous.
Nigerians deserve what they got. Atiku wasn't a good choice either but there were credible candidates in the last election but graduates and undergraduates in this forum were shouting Sai Baba up and down.
that is what poverty and joblessness can do

He pulled out of Senetorial election to focus his resources on the governor's election which he lost under some questionable circumstances.

Atiku bought his way to become the presidential flag bearer of PDP.

Fairness matters and as such I think APC west Candidate is okay while pdp maintains their former status quo.

That's the beauty of democracy.

Yes, Kwakwanso is quite Popular but, as a presidential candidate, does he have an appeal beyond the North? Can he compete financially and charismatically against say ElRufai or Tinubu? I believe Atiku still has more of a nationwide spread(Tho age won't be in his favor come 2023). This recent election shows that and had it not been for the fact that he was contesting against Buhari who can be aptly termed king of the north, he may just have won

Should PDP head north east and APC head south east, Ndigbo will definitely desert PDP.

An alliance of SW, SE, SS, MB and Buhari Supporters up north will not only defeat PDP but will get the party dismantled after the election.
True analysis. Most people don't know the inroads APC made in Igboland during the last elections. The PDP fielding a northern aspirant while the APC fielding an Igbo Presidential flagbearer will be the death knell of the PDP in the SE/SS.
The SE Governors are doing their underground politicking and all it takes to cause mass defection to Buhari's APC is the Presidential ticket. The PDP haven't learnt their lessons yet, maybe they will come 2023.

Atiku's major strength in the last election was the SS/SE voting block that always cast their vote for PDP since 1999.

Let Atiku defect to another party and let him test his popularity.

Oh I forgot he once did and came out a distant third.

While El'Rufah has no single influence beyound Kaduna state, Tinubu has no shred of influence beyound a few SW states. What will the Jagagban tell them at say Onitsha or Gombe during campaigns? They are all hoping to ride on Buhari's populatity which unfortunately will not be transferrable.

1. PDP is broke, they will still give the Ticket to Godfather or Candidate who pays the most. Not necessarily the best they have.

2. APC have the spread, resources, supporters, power, options of candidates and what it takes to retain power beyond 2023.

3. Politicians out of power are like fish out of water, the question is how long can they endure before decamping to greener pastures.

4. Those of us who reelected Buhari will never vote for PDP to return, loot and dismantle everything Mr. President is putting in place.

Summary, PDP will be wasting any money spent on 2023 Presidential election.

This is an insult to the SE. For over 20yrs the south east have shown their commitment to PDP but the party did not see them as good enough to have the presidential ticket.

Really! when the North still has more than 60% of the voting strength.

You are arguing based on emotions not logic.
But the North has indeed proved on many occasions not to be as greedy as we in the south portray them.

The north voted overwhelmingly for MKO despite having Bashir Tofa as a presidential candidate in NRC just to prove that they knew voting MKO was the fair thing to do.

The north voted OBJ and GEJ against northern candidates just because they knew that was the fair thing to do.

From history, while we in the south are always quick to shout "born to rule mentality of the north" we are actually showing that we do not mind cutting our nose to spite our face by wanting PDP to go north just to wrestle power back from APC even though we know that isn't the fair thing to do.

What happens to PDP giving their ticket to SE and APC to SW while they both pick their running mates from any zone in the north to make the contest interesting and fair? After all, SE is traditionally for PDP while SW is slightly for APC.

APC will surely not gamble their future by fielding a SWesterner against PDP's Northern candidate so they will be forced to go back to North and again power goes back to the Northerners.

So who is the real looser now? SE or the entire South? cheesy
Trust me, APC won't do that. APC will zone to the South and field a strong northerner as the running mate. El Rufai, Nuhu Ribadu and many other strong candidates as running mate to Tinubu, Osinbajo or anyone strong enough will defeat PDP even with a core northern presidential candidate. PDP will be exposed for their desperation and their readiness to engage in what is generally known/accepted as unfair tactic just to win back power.

And should PDP succeed with a northern candidate, SE will have forever kissed any chance of producing a Nigerian president good bye because such behavior will always be referenced in future contest. The SE will forever be tagged as the REAL SLAVE who sold South's turn to the North just to be VP.

I have said it before and I'll say it again. PDP MUST NEVER CEED THEIR TICKET TO ANY REGION UNTIL APC HAVE CEEDED TO A REGION. They should wait, It's pure common sense.

Else they'll be abandoned and lose woefully the have SE/SS bloc support that they've always enjoyed, which is the strongest bloc vote just like the NW/NE bloc. Why the hurry? Why are they allowing spies planted by opposition within them to destroy them with this kind of news?
To be forewarned.
