A stalwart of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sir Chikwe Udensi has commended the former governor of the state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu for good performance while in office between 1999 to 2007.

He made this known on Thursday in a chat with ABN Tv in Abuja.

Udensi, a security consultant insisted that Kalu, the senator representing Abia North put in his best to drive development in Abia state.

The former governorship aspirant stated that the major reason some people criticize the federal lawmaker is because he brought in T.A Orji, whom he said lacked capacity to govern take over from him.

The APGA chieftain described T.A Orji and his successor as liability to the state.

While stating that there is no basis to compare Sen. Kalu and his successor, Sen. T.A Orji, he described T.A as a disaster that befell Abia.

For all I know ABIA has never been lucky with good governance since her creation from IMO state

I grew up in the streets of Aba and was already of age at the time OUK ascended the highest political position in Abia State.

At that time, the level of political awareness among locales was very low and the clever OUK rode on this to cripple the state while he made sure its inhabitants smiled weekly to the Eyimba international Stadium to cheer the always-victorious Peoples' Elephant to mind-blowing victories.


As usual, OUK was always present with his commissioners to share in this weekly joy. The people loved him for this magnanimous association. He constructed few quality roads and a plethora of low quality roads, introduced the much needed Bakassi boys to curb the security challenges, and created an unbeatable football monster in Eyimba FC.


It was OUK that made me fall in love with football and its practitioners. Obinna Nwaneri, Ndidi Anumunu, Enyeama, Onyekachi Okoronkwo, Romanus Orjinta(of blessed memory) et al were all beauties to watch and the inhabitants of the city trooped out in thousands to witness these local heroes.

However, for each of his good strides there was a commensurate or worse evil. He made sure all political roads in Abia led to Eziama G.R.A where his sorceress of a mother lived and practiced her political sorcery. It was rumoured that one needed to peel Melon seedlings at the feet of OUK's mother, Odiukonamba, to be considered for a political appointment or to be victorious at state related elections.

OUK sinned against Abians. But when T.A arrived, Abians realised that OUK was rather a saint with a few sinful stains. Ikpeazu like his name connotes has effortlessly dragged Abians backward.

For now, God's own state will remain in the devil's hand until a time when the devil's hands grow weary and unable to carry any longer.

Abia is one of the most unfortunate states in Nigeria. If Uzor Kalu is the best governor they ever had, that tells the quality of their governors. Unfortunately, the people who elected them and suffer still feels the party that produced such quality of governors, is still the best.
