You will have more people attending your funeral than your birthday celebration. Just live your live while trying not to please anybody.

just wait until you die and your children bury you like a dog....then you will start hunting them as they do in Nollywood movies . In my opinion if a man dies rich there's nothing wrong with a glamorous burial, I only have problems when a wretched man dies and his children are trying to give him an extravagant burial. Especially the ones who take titles waranting the children to start borrowing to fulfil burial rites as regards his title. Title way e no use epp person.

We wait and see how he will bury his father Peter Edochie when he joins saints triumphant.

The reality is that every Adult Igbo soul goes home with vitals: wailing, songs, music, dance, gunshots and feasting. Even the children of the deceased are expected to shout intermittently while dancing "My father or mother, it is happening loud for you"

However, no two burial and funeral ceremonies are the same. Anyone is allowed to plan within its their means but the vital things are usually intact. Unfortunately, sophistication brought in publication of elaborate brochure and use of unnecessary publicity signage as well as expensive souvenirs while association with Yoruba has introduced aso ebi into the mix.

Oga calm down na like you dey find.....I no go give you am grin grin shocked shocked shocked

It calls for a celebration in Africa, especially in iglo land, abiriba to be precised.

One family has kept their father for more than a year now since he died. Reason? They are looking for millions before they can bury him. Idiots!!

Some families and friends wont contribute or visit when one is sick but are ready to travel and even contribute for the burial.

If they knew that sickness will lead to death, trust, they'll do more than just contributing. It's just that most people never expect you to die from sickness. Nobody goes around thinking you're going to die from a sickness. It's hard to explain. But death is different. It's the final stop. Death is such a brutal concept.

Rubbish talk, when money dey spend am they will not bury u with ur money. As there is expensive living they should be expensive burial

At least read to understand and not just reply.. He meant if you can't support people when they're alive don't spend big on their burial.. So if you're a loving and caring son to your dad you're free to spend millions since you have been taking good care of him while he was alive.... Always read to understand

It's a waste of money if while they were alive you couldn't help them... The money people waste on burial on someone would have been used to keep them alive in the first place...
But if you took care of them while alive... You're free to spend millions... That's when I agree with your Last Respect point...

You have to give a befitting burial to the dead, so they go home in peace and glory.

In trying to make sense, u makes no sense.

There's no greater glory than entering heaven when you die. No amount of money spent on burial can achieve that fit. In fact, if it could, people will have different bank account for their own burial.

I swear, that brochure is almost the main thing.

If the family doesn't do it well it can be very embarrassing.

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie has shared his thoughts on expensive burials as he recounted how a friend once asked for a loan that ran into millions for a burial.

The actor stated that he doesn't understand the concept of spending so much on burial as one should be celebrated when he or she is alive.

Yul also pointed out how some family members won't help out when one is alive but will bring out millions when one is dead.

Exactly my thoughts whenever I get to attend burial ceremonies once in a while, I believe in just going to the grave side, pay your last respect as we say and head back home or have just a little reception for those who travelled far and wide to attend. What's most important is where that person is, heaven or hell? That's if you believe in it, I do anyway.
