He was referring to the one at Lagos Island. It happened just few minutes ago and the fire service men are there already to contain it. |

Each markets should have their own fire fighter trunk and also water tank truck. Some of us don't know they have union and also president in that market. It is their duty to use the tenement rate money to buy machines and instigate fire service. a market that has up to about 5,000 shops and each should be paying 18 k yearly just assuming. 18000 x 5000 shops = 90 million. Then purchase fire fighter truck, with it and there would still be change. This what is killing us in this country. Greedy leaders. Before Fire truck from other service comes to their destination, the whole building would have been consumed and none to contain the fire. 1 Like 1 Share |

Here's my theory about these fires. Please bear with me, what if, emphasis on "what if" the government is deliberately contracting Arsons to light up these spaces in the guise of allocating new spaces to well to do Nigerians who can afford the new shop rent.. |

conductor250:Somehow, everything is not about politics. Lagos State still has the best equipped fire Service stations controlled by Federal government, state government and private establishments like banks (Union Bank and First Bank). One of the the most interesting things about fire service in Lagos state is that all these fire stations collaborate together to fight fire in Lagos State. I mean, any fire station can call any of the fire stations for back up or attend to nearby fire incident. Fire fighters are not spirits that can know when and where a fire has started and appears same second. First, they need to be informed and they need to have free flow of traffic to get there on time. And on fire level, 5 to 10 minutes is enough for a fire (depending on the cause) to burn down buildings. For Balogun Market, the closest stations are Marina/CMS fire stations and Ojuelegba Fire Station. I bet you that the Marina stations, which is closer will take around 10 minutes to get to the point of fire outbreak only if the market people are highly cooperative when we consider traffic. To clear road for cars to navigate within Balogun market takes minutes, in fact, Lagos state drivers do not care about the giving way to ambulance and fire trucks. As it is, we do not how long it takes the market people to reach out to the fire services. Anyway, contrary to your thought, the fire service people are already on ground. Check the attached pictures for their response, follow them and save their contact for any future emergencies. Thank you. 2 Likes

BALOGUN MARKET IN FLAMES ? Now it's beginning to make sense why they closed the border, to strangle biz in the South. This is 3rd or 4th market in the South to burn. Close the border, burn the markets and they can't restock. The biz goes down. THEY WANT TO CRIPPLE THE SOUTH |
