It would have been a good exercise if the President have signed the bill within the shores of Nigeria. I am amazed that most of the people ferociously attacking the President have completely ignored the importance of the bill he has just signed into law because of the blind hatred for him over the election loss.

Are the critics mindful of the fact that until now the previous set of laws applicable to deepwater oil & gas operations are from the ones applicable to land, swamp and shallow water terrains. As a veteran in the field for almost 30 years, I will like to reveal to you that the cost for million dollar pipeline license is a ridiculous N20 (yes, TWENTY NAIRA !). That amount is what is payable to DPR using a bank draft whose commission is over and above the principal amount. Let me also reveal to you that the development of deepwater assets started before year 2000 when oil was just about $10/BL and OBJ was the President. The arrangement with the IOCs for deepwater operations is based on what is called Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) and the principle is that the government contributes ZERO to develop the field and the IOC foots the entire bill. The cost of field development is then deducted over the production years until the cost of the project is realized. At the onset alter first oil, the IOCS take most of the oil and sell and gives just about 5% - 15% to Nigeria and that dynamics is supposed to change IF the selling price of oil goes above $20/BL but unfortunately, nobody was paying attention and the price of oil is now over $50/BL. This is what PMB has just rectify and all you guys are complaining about is the optics is where the bill was signed into law !

We are such a strange people......

Lost what?
What did Ebitu Ukiwe lose when Aikhomu replaced him and stayed with Babangida till he stepped aside?

Lost what??! BECOMING PRESIDENT, that’s what. That’s a HUGE loss indeed!

Can't you Africans abi Nigerians ever get fed up with doing things in reverse order? Why must every single thing even those that common sense dictate be spelt out in your constitution which you even hardly respect before you consider it reasonable to do?
What is so bad in handing over to your deputy when you are away, or is he just there for nothing sake?
I guess when barrister Ubani's take favoured the presidency and the president even had to give him some special recognition you thought he was from Chad. Now that his take is against the nonsense that the presidency just did, he definitely is from the East.
People should get fed up with such nonsense jor!

Una no dey tire ni? This same Buhari transfer power to his vp more than twice in their first term and none of you crying forced to do so. And Buhari is the only and first president that have done so since 1999....So enough of the noise Abeg.

Thank u Mr lawyer.
I had expected our so called constitutional lawyers to shed more light into this but it seems like we don't have such lawyers in Nigeria anymore or is it Buhari effect?

So the 21 days brouhaha was taken out of context?

Hmm.

I hate politicians but I'm beginning to pity the vice president. That man will soon develop high bp. He will be regretting seriously.
He made money working with tinubu, has a successful career, what again does he want if not greed?
Even as he went to aso rock, greed no gree am see road.

Those that put you there has more political powers than u.
U for quietly do what u signed for and go your way.
At least, we will still blame it to the redundant office of the vp as usual. U can never make Nigeria better.
Very impossible. As long as Nigeria is structured this way with the useless 1999 constitution backing it, no president will make naija work. U try, forces around u will spoil show for u. Ask Jonathan and late yaradua.

So if u make enough money, to be vice president is greed to you.

Now you are seeing the light. One reason why I want a disintegration is because Nigeria was not created by our own hands. It was done by the colonial rulers. If you want to know how an average white man see we Africans, watch serie A. Look at how the blacks are treated in the US.most African countries are I. Conflict because of too many tribes and the divide and conquer tactics used by the British and France on their colonies. These countries are very wicked I mean they are very evil. We all know what France has done in French colonies. But the British as evil as they are try to make it look like as if they are good people. They have this attitude of condescending look at their fellow whites thinking they are better than everyone and imagine how they would look at the black man. The Yorubas have to team up with their cousins in Benin to have a separate state or be on their own. The Igbos have to form a country with their cousins across the Niger an dthe north would have to be with their people in the Chad and Niger areas. We are moving towards slavery if we continue to accept our fate and bloodshed if we decide enough is enough. If the Yorubas unite with the Igbos, which would be difficult then we would create a force that would challenge not only the Fulanis but the western imperialism. But for some reason the Yorubas feel so comfortable in this union. Whatever achievement that Awolowo created has been destroyed by the North. Africa has to be reorganized for it to move forward. All I see is wars wars wars.

I disagree with u. Nigeria is much greater and Nigerians are much better off staying together. The diversity alone makes it worth it. It also makes us the GIANT we are. The only problem is radical Islam and the fact that some may secretly want to Islamize the whole of Nigeria by force. That is the BIG problem

Buhari's trip to UK is just for 2 weeks ( 14 days) The constitutions mandated he must hand over if he will be unavailable for 21 days.

This people should stop whinning around jor

Did u read what Ubani said at all? READ THE ARTICLE. The 21 days applies to NA not him. That’s how long they have to wait before mandating VP to take over.

Too many lacuna in our constitution.

If the constitution is not critically reviewed and and amendments made in such a way that we won't be deceiving ourselves, then there's very less we can do to end the mass enslavement by the political class.

To put it short, fixing the lacuna and miscues in our constitution is sine qua non for the better 9ja we crave for.

Well said, but who will bell the cat. Would u be eager to fix the constitution if it favors u?

Nigeria became a joke a long time when we choose an illiterate to rule over us.

Imagine Trump, Putin, Merkel, Macron, Borris, even Ramaphosa traveling out of their country then few days later the presidential house boy brings some documents over to him to sign in another country. I don't think that document should be valid.

Its like a judge giving judge on a roadside and expects the court to uphold it

I have searched the internet, I can’t find any other time it has been done, even in history

You can always become whatever you wishes to become when you are ready to begin, provided you are commited to your goal. to become successful in life requires hardwork and persevearance while doing a job of interest. i.e what you love. and it is that your hobby that i'm going to be teaching you how to convert to money, to become successful in it, you will have to put in more effort depending on your goal. and this will determine the time frame at which you can be successful in whatever you're doing.

U know him very well.

I think he got angry for two reasons:

His expectations were high. In 2016, I remember how he used to talk about what would become of Nigeria after Buhari's first tenure.

He got really angry when Buhari started using the DSS to attack and prosecute judges. He felt it was outright abuse of power and criticized the move heavily on Radio Continental ( now Max FM)

But in this case he is only saying exactly what is in the constitution, without embellishment

I advocate parliamentary system of government, because the presidential system gave excessive powers to the president. This makes the president behave anyhow. Besides, the presidential system is wasteful.

Busy body lawyer. Even a kindergarten pupil knows that there is no breach until after 21 days. Otherwise, such provision will not be there in the constitution. Signing a bill outside the shore is not also a breach. Why is he making noise? So as to get noticed?
