Edo Decides: PDP Candidate, Airhiavbere Trounced in his unit

The People’s Democratic Party candidate for the governor of Edo state, General Charles Airhiavbere (ret) lost his ward to the incumbent governor, Governor Adams Oshiomhole. Result declared at the Garrick memorial School, Oredo Ward 1 units 18, 19, 20, 20 where Gen. Charles Airiavbere (Rtd) voted suggest that the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) beat the PDP with an astronomical margin.

In unit 20, the PDP's Candidate polled a total of 38 votes as against ACN's 360. The ANPP got 2 votes while 33 were declared invalid.

In unit 19, PDP polled 32 while Oshiomhole's ACN got 254. ANPP again got 2 while 1 vote was declared invalid.

In Unit 18, also in the same centre, Airhiavbere's PDP got 65 votes while ACN scored 351 votes. ANPP and Labour Party got 1 vote each while 7 votes were voided.

Lastly in unit 21, the PDP scored 33 votes while the ACN got 270 votes. The ANPP got 2 votes, CPC, 1 and LP nil.

A summation of the results from the Centre showed that Charles Airhiavbere of PDP scored a total of 168 votes while ACN's Adams Oshiomhole got 1,275, ANPP's Solomon Edebiri got 4 votes and LP 1.

The PDP's candidate who earlier told newsmen that the polls were free and fair in his unit however stormed out before the result was announcement.

Similarly, at Oba Akenzua Primary School housing Units, 22, 23, 24 and 25, the PDP's candidate appeared to have been beaten convincingly. PDP received 50 votes as against ACN's 756. The ANPP got 2 votes from the Centre while the remaining political parties got nothing.

The election was generally peaceful, free, fair and credible in the area as voters stayed behind to monitor the collation and counting of votes.

Early results obtained by Saharareporters from various polling units in Edo State indicate that the incumbent governor, Adams Oshiomhole is maintaining an advantage over his opponents. Gov. Oshiomhole is also leading at centers considered to be the bastion of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

For instance, in Ward 2 Unit 7, the ward of Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, the Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, in Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, ACN won by 169 to PDP’s 129.

Today’s election is essentially a battle between Gov. Oshiomhole’s Action Congress of Nigeria and PDP’s candidate, Major General Charles Airhiavbere.

Despite initial reports of irregularities, including voters’ names missing from the register, voting continued. In a boat accident earlier in the day three police officers and an INEC officer are feared dead.

INEC’s spokesperson Kayode Idowu told Saharareporters that they had some challenges with the distribution of some materials. As a result, polling has not closed across the state. Polling will be closed when the last person on line at the affected centers cast their vote. After which votes will be counted, and the result pasted at the board.

In Fugar, Etsako Central Local Government Area, ACN won the results so far released. In Ward 2, Unit 7 ACN won by 169 to PDP’s 129. Ward 2 Unit 7 is the ward of Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, Chief of Staff to the President.
-In Ward 2, Unit 8 in Fugar, ACN won by 141 to PDP’s 87 votes. In Ward 2, Unit 1, ACN got 133 votes while PDP got 96 votes.
I-n Adohan, Orhiomwon Local Government, ACN won by 259 votes to PDPs 44 votes. At Idunokhoi, also in the same Local Government, ACN won by 171 to PDP’s 39 votes.
-At Orhiomwhon, Urhonigbe North, Polling Unit 7, ACN polled 116, PDP 36, at Ward 04, ACN 117, PDP 27. At Okhwae, ACN polled 221, PDP 71.
-At Umuakpe in Oredo Local Government Area, ACN polled 173 to PDPs 20.
-In Ozalla, Owan West Local Government Area, ACN won all the units of Ward 1. -At Okada Grammar School, ACN won by 265 to PDPs 62
-At Eweka primary School at Egor local Government, ACN polled 300 to PDPs 17; at the Oba Market in Oredo ACN polled 404 to PDPs 54.
-At the S&T in Egor Local Government, ACN polled 200 to PDPs 25.
-The Ward 6, the total sum of Units 1 to 10 in Niger College, Ikpoba Okha LG indicates that ACN won by 1575 to PDPs 54.

nairawall: PDP from the inception of our recent democracy has never won an election without rigging in Nigeria. As more electorate are being empowered or informed to make their votes count, PDP will definitely lose more states by 2015.

The day PDP lose the presidency, will be the beginning of a new and better Nigeria.
