Did aribo my boy play well?
Eartquake1:
Ndidi is still Nigeria's best player

I now believe in club form and country form

Those that didn't perform for Nigeria in their last matches didn't perform today despite their outstanding performances for their clubs

Moses Simon, Akpeyi

Oga calm down. If we are to host any world cup,no be NTA go help us broadcast the matches. FiFA has their own media unit that does that.

Our own is to provide stadium facilities for them.

Komekn, as usual, you are just trying so hard to discredit our youths system.

The Olympics Team remains a hunting ground for future Senior national team players.

If Taiwo Awoniyi should Pose a very good performance in the current tournament, he will definitely get a look in by Rohr, this is regardless of his club performances. Players like Etebo, Azubuike, Shehu Abdulahi, and Aminu Umar got their first SE invite due to their performances with the U23s.

I am not saying this is the ONLY means but outstanding players from the U23s typically get invites to the Senior national teams. Why do you think the NFF opted for a SE assistant coach for the U23s? It's because the U23 side is more like a feeder team to the SE

You are damaging the narrative with spurious presumptions based on your own perception.

Because I disagree that the U23 OLYMPIC team should be the basis of selection to the SE. Because that's your core opinion.

I have now discredited and denigrated the NFF youth system. My goodness what an intelligent balanced substantive deduction. Chei !!!

My opposing approach is about the continued consistent top quality performances in your club and league as the basis for selection to.the SE.

Actually my favoured approach is the actual approach the NFF have adopted.

So how you who should know better come to make such a deduction. And don't say you know me because you don't have a single idea.

NTA won't be the ones to broadcast the matches if we do win the hosting right.
Even if they do,it would be up to standard. .

When we hosted the u-17 world cup in 2009, the federal government purchased world class broadcasting equipments for NTA ..those equipment are still at their station. .

What a show of shame by the station that aired the SE match. If in our own backyard we made watching football an eye paining experience then we have to give kudos to DSTV.
The icing on the bad cake was the commentator who could easily pass for a nonentity at the commentary box
Congrats to SE anyways

Nigeria produced an impressive comeback at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium after coming from behind to beat Benin Republic 2-1 in their opening group game of the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Wednesday evening.

Gernot Rohr made three changes to the side that executed the last international game versus Brazil, with Daniel Akpeyi, Ola Aina and Samuel Kalu afforded starting spots in Uyo.

Nigeria suffered a blow after just three minutes in when some sloppy defending allowed Stephane Sessegnon to slot past Daniel Akpeyi and put the visitors ahead.

Nigeria flew out at their opponents after the setback, with Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi looking particularly dangerous, and the former could have gotten the equaliser when he struck the frame with his shot.

The leveller eventually arrived from the spot just before the break, after Iwobi played in Ola Aina who was brought down by Nabil Yarou in the area. Victor Osimhen duly stepped up and sent Fabien Farnolle the wrong way.

Rohr's team upped their ante after the restart and the pressure they sustained on the opposition soon paid off when Samuel Kalu took on the opposition defence in breathtaking style before bending a low shot into the bottom left corner in the 63rd minute.

The Squirrels however, nearly grabbed an equaliser late on when Jordel Dossou pranced through the Nigerian defence and crashed a powerful shot off the under side of the crossbar.

However, Farnolle was still required to palm away a sizzling drive from Iwobi in the closing stages, and that was as good as it got for Nigeria who thus, opened their qualifying adventure with a victory.

Nigeria's starting XI: Akpeyi, Ajayi, Troost-Ekong, Aina, Collins, Ndidi, Aribo, Iwobi, Kalu, Chukwueze, Osimhen.
