I do just asking you what makes you think U.S embassy will do that.

Sorry about the refusal Gospelozy.

You were asked where are you going (Location) and it seemed you answered with your prepared answer to the question of what are you going there to do.

Also, conference, workshop, seminars are red herrings at the embassy because they are just smokes and mirrors. Even local conferences are viewed as talk shops by us Nigerians.

We don't have privy to your DS160, but your info there might have seemed somewhat to the VO before you got there.

She was not nice a person to "dismiss" you from her presence that way. She can still refuse your application in a civil manner.

Sorry once again for the refusal.

Your travel history is better than the "ties" you posted earlier

Account balance can be converted to USD.
Lands and even houses and can be sold and proceed converted to USD and transferred to a US bank...

But the VO during my last interview didn't cares to ask about my travel history and issue me the paper that I don't have enough home ties.

Good day house,

My dropbox renewal interview was unsuccessful. I was interviewed in Lagos (Window 4) See transcript below:

Me: Good morning
VO: Good morning, how are you doing today?
Me: I'm fine, thank you.
VO: Your passport and DS160 confirmation please
Me: (Hands it over to him)
VO: I can see you have previously visited the US in 2017, which city did you go to?
Me: New York
VO: How long did you stay during your visit?
Me: 2 weeks
VO: Okay (nods his head affirmatively). Are you married?
Me: Yes
VO: Did your wife travel with you during your last trip to the US
Me: No, she didn't as we were not married then
VO: (looks at the screen and says okay)
VO: Is she travelling with you on this proposed trip
Me: No
VO: Where do you work and what are your roles?
Me: I work at xyz bank as a financial reporting officer and handles financial and management reporting, tax remittances, performance mgt ....
VO: That's cool. So, where do you intend to visit this time and what will you be be doing?
Me: I will be visiting New Jersey and in the course of my visit, go sight seeing and visit some places of attraction
VO: Ok, have you visited any other country(s) apart from the US in the last 5 years?
Me: Yes, I've visited South africa and UAE.
VO: Any recent trip out of the country?
Me: Yes, I was in Dubai, UAE in September
VO: Did you go alone or with your wife?
Me: I went with my wife
VO: How long did you stay?
Me: 8 days
VO: That's good (looks at my passport to confirm the stamp)
VO: Do you have kids yet
Me: No
VO: Ok, I'm sorry to inform you that you do not qualify for a US visa at this time (Hands over the refusal form). You can reapply some other time.
VO: Do enjoy the rest your day
Me: Thank you (Collected the refusal form and left).

Although, I wasn't too optimistic given the trend of events in the last one year, but i'm still shocked that I could be refused as i did not at anytime abuse the terms of my previous visa nor overstayed. What do you guys advise?

Sorry about your refusal. That is a really tough one. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with your transcript. Maybe the fact you only visited Dubai? I just can't say. I will suggest wait a bit and reapply.

Another angle l think you should explore if you are re-applying is to include your wife, your first trip was, you alone( although you were single then) , but on the flip side, some school of thought might say that your wife should be your home ties while you proceed alone, you also didn't abuse the terms of your visa

Like someone said,You can reapply with your wife...

These people are just trying to cut down on the amount of people entering the US,travel history, home ties, bow ties don't matter to them right now...

People should just leave them alone for now, unless there's something very important you need to do in the US,don't bother wasting your visa fee.

@wuki what can possibly be the reason here??

Clearly, the U.S embassy is tightening the screws on visa issuance. Can’t say definitively why this applicant was refused; however for a married person going on vacation to the U.S without their partner can be a steep hill climb — unless of course if there’s a very solid case to be made for traveling solo. Notice that the V.O asked if they’ve traveled together to the U.S; if they traveled together on most recent travels; and if they are traveling together now. That seems to be of interest on this profile. OP should have told VO why they weren’t traveling together on this trip in the same way that OP volunteered info to the V.O reasons for not traveling together at the time (that is they weren’t married as of the last U.S trip.) I’d be careful reapplying alone — and certainly not soon. This is my take.

My thoughts too...
There is nothing in NJ like that to warrant going there for sightseeing. If you were going there as a place to stay / US Address, it may appear better.
A young adult recently married with no children traveling alone to the USA without the wife, and heading to NJ (has no sights and not a tourist destination) to do sightseeing and visiting places.

This is the only explanation I can think of.

To be fair, a VO will NOT base visa decision on what cities/places/states count as “sight-seeing” destinations. Matter of fact the VO might have never been to NJ let alone know that “there is nothing in NJ.” OP might have claimed going to New York and still get denied. Has NOTHING to do with applicant’s destination. OP could decide to go to Montana for all the VO cares. I second your other point and that may have been a red flag for the VO.

Nothing dey NEW JERSEY, i dey tell you. I think that was one of the RED FLAGS.
Another Red flag in my opinion. Why should a family man travel for tourism alone? The V.O might doubt his true marital status(V.Os don't care about our marriage certificates because some Nigerians are fraudulent that's why V.Os seldomly opt to see certificates) . Imagine he just got married which is suppose to be the most exciting time of marriage and he ain't going with madam. When i applied the very first time for tourism. I went with my family (wifey and baby girl) and we got it. Infact even when i renewed it was together as a family and we got it again.
