Here is a post I saw a while back on another thread -

Truly we have a long way to go...

Part of the reasons why I was having a hard time securing an internship was lack of information, I had no idea how to properly present my skills and experiences but that has changed.

Beyond changing that, I made it a personal mission not to allow people suffer unnecessarily - the experiences gained during internships and the money earned could go a long way.

A quick check on linkedin would show that students from Tamuk are doing something right. I have gone beyond that level...
Rendering career advice or sharing your knowledge about issues when clearly the receiver is struggling wouldn't hurt you, the US is toooooo big for someone else to displace you or become richer than you.

I applied for the Gas Turbine job from info a friend gave me that a certain company was hiring and I got the offer. Has it killed him? Hell no.

I interviewed at a sugar refining and a computer hardware company - didn't get the jobs BUT I mentioned it to someone, he applied to one and was sourced for one and with little coaching based on my experiences with those companies, he got fulltime offers from both. How does that take food off my table?
It doesn't, it only gives me one more person I go borrow money from. cheesy

I envy the indians, they are excellent at making opening for the kinsmen n women. We all should learn to share information and collaborate, there is too much opportunity in the US to be selfish but even in the midst of the selfishness of some, "las las, all men go still deh alright" - A. Richy, 2017

A friend even called me last week that he has gotten an offer for a software engineer role months before his graduation- starting salary is six 00. I am glad to have one less person to worry about.

Winnings exite me..
Keep pushing, Your time will come. smiley

Hey bro that was my quote a while back.. I work very closely with Indians and I have learnt so much from them. Honesty, information, learning/education and unity within themselves. All these are Alien to the black race. It is very hard to beat unity that is why they have taken over the IT sector in america. On the other hand we Nigerians are something else.. Nobody is willing to show you the way cos they want you to suffer and be beneath them.

The way they take the america thing so serious sometimes I ask myself, no be the same America all of us dey, america no pass like this na. Helping your fellow Nigerian is a problem, show them the small way you took is a problem.. it's so sad how we Nigerians treat each other in America.

I once talked about training people on my field to copy how the Indians operate they labeled me a liar, that the money I claim to be making is false. I kukuma keep quiet to allow them keep hustling day and night while I follow my Indians make 6 figures with ease.

I don’t think black and unity should be included in same sentence. When blacks think people from Africa are kunta-kunte? When Yoruba and Igbo trying to outdo each other on being the most “woke”. I will rather associate with Hispanics and Whites rather than a fellow black.

Very foolish mentality.. If you show me the way to get a job it doesnt decrease your income, you only helped a brother out of which u will be rewarded. Personally I know how many people I have helped to get jobs, when I see them doing well it gives me such joy knowing I helped a soul. Honestly we got some good brains out here but selfishness is the order of the day.

Honestly I thought about this last night before bed. What’s wrong with blacks? Are we cursed or something? Why this selfishness, backbiting or not allowing a fellow brother to grow up the ladder? I read a story about a Zambian guy deported yesterday and I almost shed tears. It sucks.

Take a look at africa as a continent how backward it is.. President staying in power for donkey years doing nothing but looting. The ones we met here whom their ancestors suffered in the hands of the colonial masters, nothing to write home about that's a story for another day. As for me I have given up totally.. No redemption

How does it?

First, do you agree that, doing that (rolling with the other races as against yours) wouldn't solve the problem on ground? The other races support their types, only blacks seem not to. Several of the shootings around are by blacks on blacks. We only hear screams when it's a white on black. Now, with blacks pointing fingers at one another, and dissociating to form allies with other races, who will be there to lift the blacks up? Interestingly, the other races know you're not a part of them, they do not wholeheartedly accept you even though they pretend to. Don't you feel like an outcast sometimes when you're the only one with them? It will worsen the situation because it will reek of inferiority complex in you - at a point you will be rejected on both ends - with nowhere else to go. Blacks will have to lift each other up. Imagine, how many whites (I mean the well attractive, privileged ones, not the left-over) want to marry blacks? They want to roll with their types. Even the rare few that do, how many in their family approve, and isn't it to a black of high status? Why roll with people who do not totally accept you and are covertly condescending to you or your types? Blacks need to change and unite, because no one will help us.

And for Nigerians that go to the US and start ignoring their fellow compatriots, I smh for those ones. We like to copy and overdo.

You have some points up there but sometimes it depends on the whites you roll with.

True, but there is a general view, if you understand what I mean. For example, it may not be the specific white or group you roll with, what about their family, their own friends, the society, etc etc.? But the important thing is that we as blacks need to pull each other up, and avoiding each other to follow other races will not help in that aspect.

Rwanda
Namibia
Bostwana and Mauritius are great countries.

Rwanda and Namibia is cleaner than 90% of European countries, also economy is very good. Read up more about them. Those countries are growing very very fast

They ain’t great, they are still developing countries but I agree about the economy. But they are 4 out of almost 57/58 countries in Africa. Why are we at the bottom of the race chain? Civilization started here first. What happened to us blacks? During the slavery, it was black selling blacks to the whites, Arabs and Portuguese.

If there is a going to be a changed, it starts with the blacks here. The closest thing close to unity amongst blacks are the Somalians, they knit together and help each other.

lol!...Are you seious with this question you asked?

If it's not New York where else? cheesy

The Increase of Nigerians that started to increase in the areas like Texas, Maryland and California just happened during the last I want to believe 10 years or so.

New York was the initial State that most Nigerians acclimatized with due to family members they had there that came in the 70s-80s(but never left the US) before now moving to other States.
