don't pity them. Their farmers produce tomatoes and other produces. They can trade with Nigeria with these instead of importing substandard goods from asian countries to re-sell to Nigeria. They are pennywise poundfoolish.

Since Nigeria has said " NO" in capital letters, can't these countries take their goods to other African countries? Is the African free trade not for all African countries? Egypt has an economy as big as that of Nigeria, they have large population, all these countries that keep taking advantage of Nigeria can take their goods there. Sambisa forest belongs to all Nigerians but not all Nigerians will want it as a gift even as large as it is.
we did not say no. We said use ports

This article is what anybody can sit down and compose. Many Nigerian journalist are lazy bunch of people. We are tired of reading about the impact of border closure on originating and receiving countries. Let out Journalist give us something new to read about for a change.

Many seriously guarded secrets, informations that begs investigative journalists attention in our political, social, religious, educational life abound. These informations will make an interesting read. We are a nation of rich historical heritage that will make fascinative read as well that can be brought to the public space. Nigeria journalist should get off their comfort zone and begin to churn out world standard article. I believe the Lecturers harrasment of students are still prevalent in our institutions. I believe Politicians master mind of these rampant insecurities around. A good journalist can provide irrefutable proofs of these mysteries.

What's wrong with this Newspaper (including Telegraph)! Most of their news nowadays is about how Nigeria is causing problems with border closure. Even if there company are owned by our 'bloda' from the 'yeast', are they into Smuggling business or why are they crying than the breaved?

There is no news these days, even the so called reputable newspaper just go online and source for news.

Be that as it may, you can actually make a point without throwing jab at anybody body/region

if you give people a yard, they will take a mile. Their govt should do the needful. Benin is the 5th or 6th largest importer of rice despite having a population of less than 10million people. These imports are smuggled into Nigeria to kill our economy. Their govt must make and enforce a commitment to stop this.

I don't see any reason why we should be concerned with what is happening in these neighbouring countries that have gladly taken gain of the corrupt practices happening within our country.
It's not like it's the aim of the president for these people to suffer the effect of these illegal trade deals they engage in.
Let's be more foresighted and disseminate news on the effects this border closure is having within our dear country. That's how you know constructive journalism. Shikenah!!!

all these weapons they also smuggle through our borders, do we need them to survive? Are the illegal arms already in circulation not enough? Is it only cassava grains they smuggle? Our cassava grain is enough to sustain us. We are the largest producer of cassava in the whole wide world. We don't need smuggled cassava.
but you said they should send it to Egypt rather than Nigeria. I'm asking if Egypt needs what they were giving Nigerians that Nigerians needed

Border closure is the only good thing I have seen from PMB. Time to grow local rice production.
The boarder closure is way beyond rice smuggling, the stupid countries allow their nations to be transit hubs for ammunitions that terrorists use.
How often do you hear of bolo Haram and kidnapping.

exactly my point. Funny enough, it is Nigerians hiding under these disguises. It is also Nigerians pressuring these countries to demand border re-opening. These countries have already collected import duties from these importers. They won't lose anything if borders remain closed. Only importers who will be forced to sell their goods cheaply or continue pay to for warehousing that will lose.

Yes, they certainly will loose ooh.

If the ones already imported cannot be taken to naija to be sold, the importers won’t be able to import more, thus, less duties paid to the Benin government. It is affecting the revenue gotten from goods imported through their ports.
