REDMI NOTE 8 REVIEW...

So, I made the decision to switch from my battle-worn, tired, trusted Redmi Note 4x for the Redmi Note 8.

PROS
Excellent performance and battery life
Highly customisable and feature-laden
Class-leading Camera (With GCAM)
Fantastic Display
Incredible value for money

CONS
Limited 4G bands (On Chinese model)
Average performance by the stock camera (I suspect the ROM has not been finetuned to optimise the Quad-Bayer sensor) I hope an update will fix that.
Slow-mo is meh at best
The Chinese ROM has better battery performance than the Global ROM

Nice review, Lol at battle worn cheesy That's one of GP's disciples down cheesy

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S goes up in flames but manufacturer attributes it to "customer induced damage"

The Redmi Note 7S was released in 2019. (Image source: Xiaomi)The Redmi Note 7S was released in 2019. (Image source: Xiaomi)
A Redmi Note 7S owner has reported a fault with his device that he believes caused it to explode. The user claimed that the smartphone was treated in a normal manner and wasn’t even charging when it caught on fire. However, after a thorough examination of the melted handset, Xiaomi has concluded it was caused by “customer induced damage”.

There have been plenty of reports over the years of a variety of smartphones bursting into flames, with some being attributed to individual users and others being caused by faulty parts. The latest in a long line of explosive episodes involved a Xiaomi Redmi Note 7S. The Redmi Note 7S is the Indian market version of the versatile Redmi Note 7, which features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC and a 4,000 mAh battery with fast-charging capability.

The Redmi Note 7S user in this case, Ishwar Chavhan from Mumbai, India, stated that he had only recently bought the device and had used it without issue. However, the smartphone caught on fire while on a workplace table, and it can be seen in the photos (see below) just how much catastrophic damage was caused by the unexpected meltdown.

Chavhan believes there was a manufacturing issue, and he claims he was informed by Xiaomi representatives that it was a faulty battery that caused his Redmi Note 7S to catch on fire. The Chinese manufacturer later issued the following statement when asked about the incident:

At Xiaomi, quality of our products is of utmost importance. The trust that Mi Fans have shown in the brand for the past 5 years is a testament to that. We also take pride in having one of the strongest after-sales networks in the country with an aim to solve customer issues seamlessly. In this particular case, after careful examination, it was concluded that the damage was caused due to external force, and thus, classified under ‘customer induced damage.’

What the “external force” was that caused the Redmi Note 7S to catch fire hasn’t yet been mentioned, but looking at the results of the fire suggests it would have had to be something both extreme and obviously noticeable. Chavhan has said he was neither charging the phone at the time nor had dropped it, so the cause appears to be a mystery for the time being.

REDMI NOTE 8 REVIEW...

So, I made the decision to switch from my battle-worn, tired, trusted Redmi Note 4x for the Redmi Note 8. I was one of the early adopters, so, I got the Chinese Version 4gb/64gb, hence, no MTN 4G for me… You all are familiar with the specs so I am not going to bore you with that nor the specifics of the design.

This is not battery chart but app usage on MIUI 10 you will click that clock symbol on the upper right corner to show battery chart. Screenshot that chart

While on the page of your current screenshot click hardware and click Screen to display screen on time.

Screenshot that screen on time, that way we can analyse if your battery usage is normal or not.

1. You have an excellent SOT and you have been complaining.

2. Your network fluctuations affect battery life.

3. Change the SIM you don't use for data to 2G(Edge/goes/GSM) to conserve battery life

4. I can see you have disabled WiFi and Bluetooth scanning, good.

5. Monitor your screen brightness, the brighter it is the more it consumes battery.

7. Reduce heavy usage when the environment is hot. High Temperature is not really good for batteries.

I hope all these helps but your SOT is very okay, I don't know if you expect 10hours SOT for 30% on light usage, but that would be you not understanding battery usage and expecting way more than expected.

Enlightenment is what we need to keep doing. People need to study their battery charts and phone and battery behaviour to be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal battery drain.
