now I know am chatting with a retard angry grin angry so because education is precious now does that now mean they should make it unaffordable even if there is the resources to fund free education Most western countries are all looking for ways for their citizens to get educated because some cant fund free education, they made a beautiful provision in form of student loan. Now you want to use the west to justify your theft, did you collect student loan for your own education? Typical beggar, who can blame you?...

what is this retard saying You make no sense at all. Most countries in Europe offer free education from the basic up to high school level, infact some Scandinavias country like Sweden give free education to Universities level to her citizens. Because there is not much resources to fund free education is some countries, then there is provision for students loan. " I know you have no idea how student loan works, let me help your life with basic information, student loan is a type of loan designed to help students pay for post-secondary education and the associated fees, such as tuition, books and supplies, and living expenses, then you will pay back once you start working. Normally, with the crude oil resources God has blessed the Niger Delta region, they all ought to have free education, free healthcare system, great infrastructure and in general a better life, so boy that should not be seen as theft rather, their fundamental rights. I hope you don learn boy. Now go sleep and no reply me again before I send thunder to fire that your empty head grin angry

When was Awolowo released? When did the civil war started? When did the military government declare police action? when did Ojukwu took control of federal establishments in the East?

Go online and search for the dates of the above scenarios and come back here to apologize to people for being so ignorant about your nation history!
honestly you have a point. Gowon came out and said he released him. I dont think gowon would lie but some people debunked it. It's a pity the black man continually tampers with his history instead of learning from it. Well I'm still searching for the answer to this rhetorical question.

when was Awo released? When did ojukwu start his rebellious act? Pls just answer these two questions.
Dude stop been smart by half, after the assassination of Ironsi by the North and the consequent wide-spread killing of Igbos, tensions were rife and very high in the East such that repatriation of Northern troops and civilians from the East was agreed upon and met by Ojukwu... at that point Ojukwu himself NEVER recognized the authority of Gowon. When Awo was released from prison, it was in that charged atmosphere and lack of harmony between the East and the Supreme Military council, so essentially Gowon had no control of the East... Ojukwu released Awo from prison not Gowon, and it was for that reason Awo personally visited Ojukwu in Enugu during the build up to secession in the East to assure Ojukwu that if the East seceded, the West would do as well... well we all know how that turned out.

Aguyi-Ironsi suspended the constitution and dissolved parliament. He then abolished the regional confederated form of government and pursued unitary like policies favored by the NCNC, having apparently been influenced by some NCNC political philosophy.

Ironsi did not abolish regional government rather he promulgated decree 34 which is unification of federal civil service. If he abolished regional government, why did he appoint regional governors? The regional government was abolished by Gowon who replaced it with state government.

Ironsi fatally did not bring the failed plotters to trial as required by then-military law and as advised by most northern and western officers, rather, coup plotters were maintained in the military on full pay and some were even promoted while apparently awaiting trial..

You have written like a person who shuns the use of research apparatus. The 1963 Nigerian constitution and military code of conduct never stipulated that coup plotters have to be shot. The heaviest term was mere imprisonment after the Military Judge-advocate has determined their culpability. However before the military judge could have his/her hand on the case, the case should be made by the armed forces panel constituted by the GOC. In this case Ironsi had appointed a three-man panel that consisted of Gowon, Bala Usman and MD Yusuf. Be mindful that the panel was made up by people from the northern region of Nigeria. Instead of these goons to find the facts and proceed to the process of court-marshal, they were busy planning a counter-coup. Again it was goofy Obasanjo and fellow goons that introduced the killing of coup plotters in Nigeria after the deletion of Murtala Muhammed in 1975. It was very ironical that when the goofy Obasanjo was implicated in coup, he cried river.

Back to our business, Awo was released in August 4 1966, just 6 days to the counter coup that killed Ironsi. How in the world will Ojukwu have control over the eastern region when Gowon even hold power over Nigeria including the Eastern region up till 1967 when he proclaimed division of state into twelve.

The decision to release Awolowo was made by the supreme military council under Ironsi not Gowon. By the way, Ironsi was killed in the countercoup of July 29, 1966.

The counter-coup led to the installation of Lieutenant-Colonel Yakubu Gowon as Supreme Commander of the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Gowon never agreed to being a member of the coup. In addition, coup of July 29, 1966 was not a total success because there was a military commander that did not recognize Gowon's imposition as leader of Nigeria. The military commander insisted on the correct military parlance where the chief of staff supreme military HQ, who for intents and practical purposes was 2ic (second in command) to Ironsi to be head of state in absensce of Ironsi. The impasse in the Nigeria leadership led to reconciliation talks in Aburi, Ghana.

because the same gowon lied after signing the aburi the same gowon claimed there was no genocide, the same gowon denied using hunger as a weapon of war , he denied the air raids etc. So like I said we need real proof from people that lived then. Our history has been so tampered with, that till this day ppl think the 1st coup by nzeogwu was an igbo coup.

you are busy arguing about who released Awolowo, was it not Tafewa Balewa that imprisoned him, without the January coup would Awolowo have been released at all? Your are still very stupid, anyhow you have received your views you must be very proud of your nonsense

It must be recalled that Yari.ba peeps helped the northerners to quench the political light of Awolowo.

In my own understanding three people released Awo, Ironsi, Gowon and Ojukwu. Ironsi before he died already making concession to release Awo, Gowon follow that part to get sympathy from the west and Ojuku also wanted to do what Ironsi wanted and to get an ally in Awo. A lot of history is been twisted in this country because history is not been thought. If Ojukwu never wanted Awo released he won't be, and if Gowon doesn't want same Awo who have been rearrested. The both men wanted the same thing and to take credit for it. Ojukwu never believed in Gowon because he was not the most senior officer to take over, so let's just stop fighting over things that happened decades back

Ironsi became head of state in January 1966 and Awolowo was released in August 1966 after Ironsi demise.

@the boded words, why did Ironsi not release Awo during the 7 month period he was head of state?

Is it a mere coincidence that Awo was released just 5 days into Gowon's tenure?

Bro don't confuse yourself, Ironsi never had it in mind to release Awolowo because it won't even favor them by having a freed Awolowo at that time.

I wouldn't want to jump into argument on this, in our present day Nigeria every one has his own perspective of history because its not been taught in school. You can make reference of some western news outlet to back up your claim, some one els will do same to backup his that is how twists the Nigerian history has become. Awolowo never made reference of who actually released him, if he did it would have given us a better perspective on this discuss, Gowon himself said nothing after ojokwu said he released Awo, not after the passing of Ojukwu before he came out and said he did. So bro u see our leaders both past and present aren't doing us any favour on this. Thank God for this generation and the internet to keep record for the next generation

Bro if we keep waiting to get true action of event from our leaders alone then we have failed Nigeria as a youth. History is usually ascertained by constant research of various sources and inference from historical artefacts.

How do we document what happened to Nigeria in the 1850s? How do you know the Royal Niger company bought the entity known as Nigeria today? How do we know of the Ajayi Crowther and his expedition as a slave and writer? Isn’t it from these so called foreign media outlets?

Without them a lot of our history would have been lost coz we as a people don’t document historical fact and you can’t seem to believe things through word of mouth.

It’s not true that Awolowo did not talk about who released him, he actually did in his book titled “Awo on the Nigerian civil war” published in 1982. Just that I’ve lost touch with that book and I’m still trying to get it through online book outlet.

Also, why does he need to reiterate who released him when it was a public knowledge. Just like Fela did not shout about who released him from prison, just like Obasanjo did not keep shouting who released him from prison, just like Sheu Sani is also not shouting about who released him from prison.

Even in the face of pictorial, videos, and prints evidence staring at your face, you are still doubting this.

Can I ask you a question:
What will affect you if you know Gowon actually released Awolowo from prison?

There is no video evidence here but an amateurish attempt to manufacture a narrative...

This trash you are calling a proof is at variance with rationality and commonsence.

I ignored your materials in the earlier thread because, to me, they are too jejune to elicit my my time else I would subjected them to requisite scrutiny.

Gowon ostensibly took power and the very act he undertook was to fly/drive from Lagos to Calabar (where his authority was hardly yet consolidated) to free a political prisoner?

He didn't delegate the task to the right quarters?

He risked being wasted in Eastern Nigeria to come and save Awo's skin days after a seismic counter-coup for which the victims are almost exclusively Igbos?

Ogbeni, are you seeing what am saw?

I thought you will end up saying something convincing but seems you’re just like your other folks that talk without evidence and whose source of information is their own subjective thinking.

If you are wise how could you think Gowon will fly down to Calabar to free Awo on his own. How exactly will a head of state have to leave his seat to take a plane to free a prisoner when he can summon the people holding him and the prison warders to do the needful.

The video showed some soldiers bringing Awolowo from somewhere (Calabar) in a car to meet Gowon. You can actually see that Gowon is in his office awaiting Awolowo to get there to receive him and after seeing him they exchanged pleasantries and he left.

When Ojukwu released Awolowo from the Nigerian prisons in Calabar, Gowon could not venture beyond Shagamu talk less of Benin. If the moronic Gowon rearrested Capt. Ben Gbulie and others after the civil war stating that it was Ojukwu who released them because he, Gowon, did not have power to effect a release of prisoner in eastern region, one wonders why he did not re-arrest Awolowo. It must be recalled that Capt. Ben Gbulie and other coup plotters who were lucky to have been held in Nigeria prisons in eastern region were released alongside Awolowo.

Typical of Nnamdi Kanu disciples, they condemn every truth without giving any evidence to back their claim.

This thread is in page 13 now and you and your tribesmen were not able to provide just once evidence to buttress your fact that Ojukwu released Awo. Is this all brains the Igbo online could muster to defend your compatriot Ojukwu?

Bro, that video is from Britishpathe and the source is from Reuters and it has a time stamp of August 4, 1966 which corresponds to the actual day Awo was released.

Is it a mere conincidence that Awo met Gowon in prison uniform after he was released the same day?

@the bolded, Ogbeni, I can’t see what you saw coz it’s evident you’re seeing Ojukwu’s ghost!
Can you see the implausibilty of your video?

The more you try to answer, the more you expose yourself to more questions...

Give it up!

Lol, I’m doing community service by trying to change your thought to save you from yourself!

How many more time do you need to accept a self evident truth?
