My Younger Sister Applied For Nursing At A University, Unfortunately Her Score Was Not Up To The Cut-Off.

We Went To The Admission Office Of The School Today Due To A Message She Received And They Offered To Change It To Either:

Pure/Applied Chemistry
Mathematics
Science Education
Physics
Agric Faculty (Crop Prod./Soil Science, Fishery, Animal Science)
.
We Are A Little Confused As To Which Has A Better Career Prospective. Advice Needed Urgently As We Want To Do A Change Of Course Tommorrow.

Thanks.

Afe Babalola University is still offering admission to study any course as long as you have at least 180 in JAMB
Take her there

I'd advise her to pick chemistry as it has more career prospects than the rest.

It depends on your sis, nothing like a career prospect courses.

There are many PhD, msc, bsc, hnd, ond graduates without a job, it's not because they ain't qualified, it's because they have failed to discover their inherited gifts.

The famous Femi Otedola sent her daughter Ifeoluwa to London University to study Business maybe she will take after him, after Msc in London, the girl became a disc jockey; Dj Cuppy.
Same as Falz the bahd guy, his renowned dad- Falana and Mummy Pastor are still in shock.

If it is Chicken your knows how to fry, better invest in that now.

Gift is more than education.

Then tell her to wait till next year or better still apply to school of nursing. It is a 3 year course with more practicals than B.sc Nursing. 2 years midwifery hence nothing special about B.sc nursing. Do you know that once she finish her study from school of nursing, she can apply for direct admission into year two? Many students are ignorantly writing jamb without knowing that there are options available to them

We can't tell her which course she should choose. We can only advice and our advice will be limited because we don't know her, her interests and her likes.

I know what I want to say is odikwa risky but can she write another JAMB?
I feel your pain tho.

Add that gifts are useless without education.

Note: There's a difference between education and academics.

Ponder on this.

None except the Agric related because after school she can be self employed.

None of the others has career prospects because I doubt the mathematics is even education related.

Maybe she should try again.

That's a huge lie. I know a lot of chemistry graduates and chemical related courses who are at home now, years after school.

Nairalanders! Pls I need your candid advice.
I used to feel depressed every time I remember my dream course, and the course I found myself. I'm an undergraduate of the university of Ibadan distance learning, from the department of psychology. A 200 level students with a CGPA of 6.3. Don't be surprise of which one is distance learning?it's UI part time programme.
The journey began in 2017,when I took my first UTME exam. I did fairly well and I applied for medicine and surgery in the university of Ibadan. I wrote the post utme exam and I didn't meet the cut off mark for admission. So I opt in for UI part time programe. I opt in for UI part time program not because I could not wait to rewrite the exam the following year, the reason is that I was advised by a tutorial master. I took him as my career guardian, because I didn't know anything about university admission. So,everything he says was the final.
To make the story Short
Later years, when I found out it was part time programme,I was not pleased with it. And the cause of the big fees we used to pay (120k). I can't afford those fees due to my financial status, I'm from a poor home, where will hardly feed on 3 square meal per day. I found my strength in teaching, and I started doing that, just to afford my school fees. The cause of the stress is too much for me,I made a plan of obtaining another jamb form 2019,but I was unable to get #3,500 to apply for the form.
This is my pain,if I will be paying high school fees,on what am I paying it for. And the course is not what I wish for. Don't forget it's not about some psychologist also work in the hospital. It's a dream. I'm this type, whether I study any course,I will still do well.
This is my pain, and I used to see myself as a failure every time I remembered.
Pls, I want to write another UTME exam to study medicine and surgery. What is your advice for me? I need your help, both in terms of advice and material wealth. Plsss
I make the story, there are a lot of limiting factors for me.

She should choose between chemistry and science education.

Here in the middle east, there's a high demand for courses like that, especially from females. She should consider maths only if she's really good mathematically

Thank me l8r

If the country was normal I would say chemistry and then mathematics/physics. In fact chemistry is one of the best courses to study for a first degree in general

But bearing in mind the economic condition and general chaos, agric is the most sure-fire way not to die of starvation after all is said and done.

The truth is that if you study any course that is not vocational or professional in nature like nursing, agric, architecture, etc, you will have to take serious measures to dodge unemployment

Apart from education, because the teaching profession has been totally debased in this country. They will still employ you as a teacher with any course so what was the point And they don't even want to pay them well

In fact nursing was the best, are you sure she can't write it again?
