Please I want you to judge me but, while you do that, please be sincere. I will make it brief. Please dont mind the typo errors or any errors as we have many English teachers on board.

It all started about 3moths now, I works with an FMCG Multinational Company as a Field Sales Manager and I was newly transferred to one of the northern state from Lagos.

I arrived this state as a Johny Just Come (JJC) and I can barely speak ordinary 'Wa kin pa o' (come make I kill You), I am a Yoruba Man.
I met an existing Sales team which I inherited from the previous manager.
One of the Sales people is Mr X. Oh my God! This guy is just so exceptionally intelligent, smart, hardworking, dexterous and has the qualities to be a great Manager. He is still an Open Market Sales Rep despite the years he has put in the Business.

Mr X took me round the Territory, helped introduced me to existing distributors and we were able to recruited more. My line manager was so surprised that i was able to fit into the new environment easily and met 72% of my target for the first month within that shortest time. This particular Mr X has so much channels he can singlehandedly do 50% of the entire secondary sales while the remaining sales rep struggled with the rest.

Now this where I'll need your advise. There is a new vacant slots for the post of TSM, three (3)northern states and one(1) south eastern state. I have opportunity to sloth Mr X's CV so he can be called for exams and possibly interviews. I am more than sure this guy will get the job with my help and his effort.

The problem is "I CAN'T LET MR X GO NOW" I decided to work out ridiculous incentives for him to increase his pay and he was so happy about it this month. He received 2x of what he always received monthly for the last few years...but yet, my conscience wont let me rest till now as it is about 48 hours to the close of submission for CVs.

I need this guy on board so badly atleast for like 4 to 5 months when I'll find my feet on this ground..I have looked around the remaining sales team atleast for a replacement but the rest are just.......This environment still looks like I am being pushed here to suffer..If you have been to core north, you will understand.

**I know God pushed him to me and I am very grateful. I'm I being wivked or self centered by holding on from sending his CV?

**I'm I going to be so stupid for allowing him Go now.

Pls advise me on what to do..

This is the problem with people like you. Always finding a way to use God to justify their wicked actions.

You claim to know that God pushed him to you, but you don't care to know if God pushed you to him to help his career by submiting his CV.

People like you don't deserve that very man.

If not that I've worked with some reasonable and kind-hearted Yoruba men, I would have said its common with you guyz.

So what if he dies of gets transferred, will you not have to continue. He has done enough for you already, do the same for him. If you have the opportunity to lift another up and because of selfish reasons you don't, karma is recording. Your generations might feel the heat. You can always call and he'll be forever indebted

I understand your dilemma perfectly well. Mr X has 'watered' you in the best way he can do. He literally assisted you stay in the job. You should not feel guilt submitting his CV. Getting shortlisted doesn't mean he will get the job but not offering help when you are in the capacity is what is bad. Don't stand in the way of his next level, rather assist someone grow and flourish too.

You can't grow by pulling others down. If that guy my chance finds out you'd have a miserable period with him. And probably you might be the miracle he prayed for, so help him. Someone would replicate for you. I would also say you should not look down on the other team member, one of them maybe just be what you need to succeed. Things happen

Think of yourself first.

Mr X has been languishing there for years. What difference will 5 months make?

On the other hand, you mentioned God. This means that you cannot stand in his way, when you have it in the power of your hand to give him what he needs. You shouldn't have added that part. But because you have a conscience, do what people with consciences do: use it. Free Mr X and suffer the consequences.

Everyone understands the cross road you are, but has someone said up there, if he dies, will your work stop? No, it won't. You never can tell why God also sent you to help him. The future we all don't know. Let's keep helping ourselves, trusting God for his mercies.

Let him go bro and try your best possible for him to get the job. You will not regret, I believe.

Let us look at this from both sides of life.

We understand the way you feel OP.
Absolutely.

You are a very good person, it shows in your write-up.
You've got a good conscience.

But our advice to you is for you to help Mr X to grow.
God will definitely come to your aid as you are still trying to learn the new terrain you are.
Please do this and have peace of mind.
You never even know what Mr X response will be to all these.

It's only 48 hours to deadline you say...........be fast about this!

We wish you all the very best as you make the tough decision.

The first rule of life.

Do unto others what you would love done to you.

Please recommend Mr X for his upgrade to that new position.

However, you can be strategic about it. Let him know the problem his vacancy will cause to you. Let him suggest the way out for you. You might be surprised to end up with three Mr X rather than one .

If you can still do something, do it now! If God pushed him to you, God is still there to help you.

Pls do. Help him grow just like he did for you.
But it's really surprising that u still claim not to be used to the new environment after working with him for that long. Isn't that a result of fear or hasty conclusion. Why not take your time and access your personal growth over the few months that u have been there? Why not try to get things done yourself before he leaves?
I believe you would find out that u can do it all alone and even better than what you think.
Necessity breeds innovations and independent achievements.

I need somebody like Mr. X in my new job. He is one of the people that help one to integrate well in a new job. It is your turn to pay him.
Don't withold good from anyone that deserves it.

Don't be like those I called 'men users'.
Don't be like Laban.

Allow him to shine.
He will recommend you for something greater tomorrow.
