I agree with your list but David Housewright is on my list, his Mckenzie series had me glued to my phone for hours. Harlan Coben's the innocent was really interesting for me. I'm currently reading 'the woods' by Harlan Coben

[quote author=englishmart post=84636765] James Hardly Chase. Reading his Novels is like watching Hotel Mumbai or Skyscraper movie, etc.
I've read about 25 Hardly Chase's novels, Believed violent, we'll have a double funeral, and lots more. Detective Tom Lepski of 2nd grade....

Well, he's not of this century

I started reading Hardley Chase novels in 1977 whilst studying for Higher School Certificate. My first novel was "Tiger by the Tail". By 1980, I had read going to 93 Chase novels both in Corgi and Panther editions. I also read Nick Carter, etc. The point I'm driving at is that our youths must be guided about the imperative of reading. The contemporary leaning on the internet, Nollywood and Hip Hop has no relevant and enduring values from which their futures can draw viable experiences.

The Internet, Nollywood and Hip Hop offers a lot. My point of view is actually very debatable.

Our Pace Setters books also kept up with John Easily Run sorry James Hardly Chase.

For Military action with planes - Dale Brown, Flight of the Old Dog , Day of the Cheetah... Still pursuing the other books.
I have read all Dale Brown novels. Its not for everyone though. You have to be tech crazy to like them.
They are fantastic reads though.

By the way how come the queen of Crime fiction/ mystery didnt make the list?

Yea, Agatha Christie

This is exactly what I hinted at: if you had minded reading English novels more than laying much importance on the internet, Nollywood and Hip Hop, you would have known easily that "offers" in your quoted post above should have been spelt "offer"! The internet, Nollywood and Hip Hop can't light a candle to Reading.

Mystery/Suspense novels undoubtedly are the best kind of novels out there. I love crime/mystery books so much that I can’t go a week without reading at least 2. And just like everyone, I do have a list of writers I choose my reads from. In lieu of this, I've compiled a list of my Top 7 Crime/Suspense writers of the 21st century. Starting from bottom to the top

7. LISA GARDNER:
Lisa Gardner is an American author of fiction, and also a self-described research junkie, who parlayed her interest in police procedure, cutting edge forensics and twisted plots into a streak of several heart thumping thrillers.
Her notable works include: The Killing Hour, Touch and Go and The Next Accident.

6. HARLAN COBEN:
Harlan Coben deals mainly on mystery novels and thrillers. The plots of his novels often rotate around the resurfacing of unresolved or misinterpreted events in the past, murders, fatal accidents, etc and often have multiple plot twists. He is the bestselling author of sixteen previous novels, including the #1 New York Times bestsellers "Long Lost" and "Hold Tight." He's a Winner of the Edgar Award, the Shamus Award, and the Anthony Award. More than 60million of his books are in print worldwide.
Some of his popular books includes: Back Spin, Caught, Live Wire, Long Lost, Missing You, Play Dead, Seconds Away, Shelter. The Innocent, Hold Tight.

5. HIGGINS CLARK:
Mary Higgins Clark began writing at an early age. After several years working as a secretary and copy editor, she spent a year as a stewardess for Pan-American Airlines before leaving her job to marry and start a family. She supplemented the family's income by writing short stories. After her husband died in 1964, Higgins Clark worked for many years writing four-minute radio scripts until her agent persuaded her to try writing novels. Her debut novel, a fictionalized account of the life of George Washington, did not sell well, and she decided to leverage her love of mystery/suspense novels. Her suspense novels became very popular, and as of 2016 her books had sold more than 100 million copies in the United States alone.
If you like books with courageous & fiesty heroines in jeopardy, engrossing stories and lots of suspense but minimal violence, then I'll recommend you read her book. Some of her popular books include: All Dressed In White, I’ll Walk Alone, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Death Wears A Beautiful Mask, The Cinderella Murder, and my personal favourite, Daddy’s Gone A Hunting.

Dean Koontz remains one of my best contemporary writers. I have read most of his works. The suspense of his books are enigmatic.
Go read his " The Watchers" and " The Whispers", The Husband".

However, I would have expected to see Stephen King and Mario Puzo on your list.
