Can you tell me what Buhari did to you for you to hate him this much?

I know it is not about Sowore because the average Nigerian does not care that much about his neighbor. Even in the churches and mosques, it is every man for himself. How many people pray for their neighbors when they are in church? When last did you pray for your country? It is always about "me, me, me and my family. Father bless me, I will give you all my tithes."

So, please tell me, what did Buhari do to you?

What evil is remaining for buhari to do asides selling the country?... You go dey ask careless jamb question...

Until Nigerians quit fighting back from the comfort of their homes behind keypads, the government can never be enlightened that power belongs solely to its citizens. And only then can the masses realize how much power they wield as things play out.

Now take a look at the massive protests going on in South America for over 2 months now. South Americans who happened to find themselves under the same shackles of poor leadership as Africans, but have fiercely refused and rebuked it consistently over the decades.

The recent protests started in their most developed country - Chile since October, over inequality, lack of opportunities and government's inability to distribute wealth and social services. The protest had only began for 1 week, the president already panicked, sacked his ministers, reshuffled cabinets. The citizens demanded a new constitution and his resignation. Out of fear, a committee was immediately set up and they're seriously working on the new constitution to at least get the over 1.8 million people off the streets of the capital who have caused a total city shut down for over 6 weeks. And maybe calm them enough with the new constitution that gives them equal rights to participate in the economy so they might reconsider his resignation. That's a man who's scared cos he has been brought to light on the powers the citizens possess.

Bolivians followed suite in protests just about same time. Why? Because they believed their president rigged the election to re-elect himself. (Does it occur to anyone that these are the same damn things we experience but would just murmur about them over keypads for few days and it slowly dies off) Now the Bolivian President has resigned and fled to Mexico to seek asylum, CHASED OFF BY HIS OWN CITIZENS! And now they're planning on their new election. MASSES = RESULTS

Peruvians and Ecuadorians are also at it. While Peru came out in numbers to support their President in closing down a corrupt Congress, Ecuador citizens came out in numbers to pressure their President over removal of gasoline subsidy. And as expected, they're all getting results and not backing down until all requests are fulfilled.

Moral lesson:
No matter how authoritarian or totalitarian a government thinks it is, fact remains that no government on earth can cope with a total shut down with millions of citizens on the streets making serious demands in one voice.
i agree with you, even though i think Nigeria case is totally different. have you considered that our country is divided along ethnic and religious lines. The problem we have is RELIGION and ETHNICITY, that's why our politicians security officers are doing whatever they like and are getting away with it.

US Senator, Menendez, Condemns Sowore's Rearrest, Promises High Level Intervention
He said, “I am outraged by the blatant harassment of Omoyele Sowore, an activist and journalist whose only crime appears to be exercising his right to free expression.“

Senator Bob Menendez, a ranking member of the United States Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, has condemned the rearrest of rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, on Friday at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Sowore, who was first arrested on August 3, 2019 by operatives of the Department of State Services for calling on Nigerians to take to the streets in peaceful demonstrations but only released on Thursday evening despite two court orders directing his freedom much earlier, was rearrested on Friday by the DSS.

In a statement on Friday, Menendez, who had been involved in attempts to pressure the Nigerian Government, promised US intervention in the matter over Sowore's case.

He said, “I am outraged by the blatant harassment of Omoyele Sowore, an activist and journalist whose only crime appears to be exercising his right to free expression.

“In a concerted effort to secure his release on behalf of the Sowore family living in New Jersey, my office has been working closely with the State Department as Mr Sowore’s case languished following his arbitrary arrest back in August.

“While we continue to seek immediate answers about Sowore’s treatment and conditions in jail, I will be further engaging directly with US Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard, in Abuja to raise this case at the highest levels of the Nigerian Government so that the Buhari administration gets the message that we are committed to defending Sowore’s rights and securing his release.

“This blatant miscarriage of justice is symptomatic of closing political and media space in Nigeria.”

It is because we as Nigerians are cowards.

We do not enforce consequences on our leaders.

Who said checks and balances has to do with only the three arms of Government. The masses can demand that court rulings be obeyed. Thieving politicians be punished and our cities be properly planned and fit for purpose (side walks, parks, transport systems, etc).

We can decide to demand and enforce this. We can choose to pressurize the Government in doing the right thing.

But when the Government knows that its people are timid, each one. They can afford to be brazen and reckless. They know on Monday we will all be in traffic, trying to survive the new tariffs, taxes, levies, charges, etc. and bad economic environment they continue to create.

But we are generally cowards.

what's this robot saying?
What happened is unfortunate and it shows that people in government are confused because they are turning people against themselves through their actions. Our house of assembly is the only one that has the power to check the excess of the executives according to the constitution because it is our internal affair and we are a sovereign country. However, the USA is a country that does not allow interference in their domestic affairs by any other nation and there is nothing they can do directly on this. You can see how Trump got into trouble because he seeks support from the Ukrainian president to probe Biden junior's activities in Ukraine and that is why impeachment proceeding is instituted against him. USA Congress is seriously checking him. Sowore is being supported by this Senator because he has a personal relationship with him. It is high time we Nigerian speak with one voice to condemn and control our government. The masses have power over their government. We do not want to face the real issue because we are afraid of death, yet we are dying one by one. Dying of hunger, a lot of youths ran away from Nigeria and died on their way to Spain, Italy en route Morocco and Libya desert. Those who are at home are living like corpses, they can not provide for their children and family. A 40-year-old graduate can not feed himself let alone his family. Our ladies are getting older with no financially stable men to marry them. Those who are abroad doing odd jobs are coming home with one disease or the other. Our brilliant youth have all become Yahoo boys and those doing legitimate businesses online like dropshipping, data entry, Translation, interpreting, web design and all sort of online businesses are being arrested. harrassed and most time killed because the illiterate security personnel found computers with them. Dangote's unqualified drivers and bad vehicles are killing people on daily basis and nothing was done by the government. IF it is not sure for us, how are we sure that it will be sure for our children. It is time to come together and fight injustice irrespective of our tribes in Nigeria.

As sowore said one has to make sacrifice for better cause.
His predicament may be the only way Nigeria can be free from these monsters or the end of Nigeria.
If this country can't be divided NO one I repeat NO one will ever be happy.
The only way to freedom is separation.
But my question is what is really the main reason the North is afraid of division?
You come out openly verbally disrespect the region that feed you, house you, make you recognized in the world yet what you people use in paying them back is to tent their image black to the world with ur insensitive ruling?
I think their would be more respect among us if this country is divided.
Although I know some region will cripple and top world poverty country is that happen

I understand you, my Queen.

Nigeria is indeed a lawless country, but it is not just about the leaders. The average Nigerian is lawless as well.

It would take a lot of effort from family and society to turn the country around.

Our problem is not merely leadership. It is systemic as well. Corruption is so ingrained in our society that even some children already know how to make money from scamming people on the internet.

Do you know that when I was writing Common Entrance, there were parents who actually bribed invigilators to bring in answers on toilet rolls for their children? Can you imagine? Children of 8,9,10 already learning how to cheat, and aided by parents who are meant to be raising them the right way for the benefit of society.

So, this problem can't just go away like that. I tell people that even if they bring all the past American presidents to Nigeria, they cannot turn the country around until we (citizens of Nigeria) start changing our mentality and outlook about life.
