Pls I need advise, am about to giv someone money for 2 yr residents Visa, d agent said is beta dan 3 months visiting Visa, dat I can easily get a job in Dubai. Pls how tru is that? After spending my money to get the d 2 yrs resident Visa will my employer hold my passport too? D agent said it will cost me 1.4million naira to do the 2yrs Visa, pls is it not beta I do Europe? Pls I need ur help be4 I do something that I will regret.
Thanks [1quote author=NONNYG post=84768223] Many Americans and Europeans are moving to UAE to work because they make more money here than back home. Here there's no income tax and so many benefits like health insurance, house allowance, paid tickets, phone bill allowance, children school fees, car allowance or free company transportation etc

One funny thing about UAE is that your passport sometimes determines your pay

A Nigerian passport holder and American passport will be doing same job but will be getting different salary

If u could make 1.4m in nigeria, then I believe you are okay..

700k as in Seven hundred thousand naira only for a DL?

30mins break for 12hrs job is too small..

Here for 8/10hrs jobs at factories, You get 2 15mins break and a lunch break of 30mins..

For other menial jobs(excluding factories), You get breaks and 1hr lunch.

For 12hrs factory jobs, you get 3 15mins break and 30mins lunch..

How much does an average person save monthly on an a average job in UAE?

I heard people snatch passports and use it to travel home? Wont immigration detect them OR Africans look alike to UAE people too?

Can you be working at the same time schooling as to move up in career?

Thanks

Yeah, your valid naija passport is like diamond to a fellow nigerian who has overstayed, there's a slang for those who have overstayed in dubai, it is called "teco" hence you have to guard it jealously. If u go to Palm deira, u will see a lot of stranded naija guys and girls everywhere, some already into prostitution, some into drug selling.
Back to the overstaying thing. What they do is remove your data page details that has that nylon foil and affix their own data page details, some yahoo boys I met then also who have overstayed but suddenly were paid substantial money by their Magas can approach you to sell to them to enable them travel back to naija. Buying a naija passport was then 400k in naija equivalent to Dirhams
The way it works is, you can leave DXB (Dubai) without the immigration raising any eyebrow cos they don't scan passports with that their infrared scanner when u leave their airport, but when you arrive murtala airport, it is a must, these guys that are traveling on these false passports already know this, also our immigration guys at murtala airport also know about it and make a lot of money from it.
I remember when I landed at Murtala airport in 2015 there was a guy in front of me on the queue at arrivals, his passport was scanned and was detected false, he was asked to step aside, he was making noise and bragging about why they should ask him to step aside lol the immigration woman said to him, "you know the right thing thing to do or I will call the police" meaning she knows he used a false passport. I left the queue after I was cleared. I didn't even bother to know how it ended, I'm sure he would settle his way out of it.

A lot of emphasis is being made about withholding of passport as if that’s the primordial issue. While it is true that passport are personal property and should be in the custody of it owner at all times, I think it’s diversionary and even unnecessary to the intent of this post. That notwithstanding, I strongly advise that no one should travel to Dubai for greener pasture as there’s nothing for you there. UAE is as useless and tough like the Nigeria you intend to elope from. You work under harsh conditions for peanuts and for most they can’t even afford a decent room without sharing with people to reduce cost and for many they are average of 5 sharing a room.

I have close friends in Dubai whose story are all same and are living in squalor. Please for your own good avoid UAE, India, Russia, Cambodia, SA and Indonesia by every means possible. Better retire to your village and farm than embark on a journey to any of the aforesaid countries. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Na to leave Naija? Are people not succeeding here? You can't succeed where you were born. How sure are you that you will succeed in another man's land?

Oh OK, thanks for the clarity, the agent never told me this ...
But is it that easy to walk up to your boss to tell him you are not working again? what if he refuses? what next?

Yes call tariff in Dubai na die. Tell him to download SMILE app and he will be assigned a Nigeria number to make and receive calls. I was the one that helped my friend in Dubai registered the SMILE and i’m the one helping him to recharge like 1k or 2k monthly. But he must be connected to internet in other to make calls and receive calls. If not for my friend in Dubai, i would be preparing by now to get a visa. But what he has faced and still facing there alone is not giving me any impression of going there. Yes my friend is just a secondary school cert holder maybe that’s why he found it difficult there.

It’s not easy there in Dubai if you are not a hustler who can do dirty jobs like Construction, Road sweepers etc don’t go there. White collar job is not that easy there except for those who has Ph.D, Masters and in related to jobs they have there. I have a friend, he’s no longer w friend but a blood because we’ve been friends for more than 23yrs without a break. He went to Dubai this year January and with most of our chats, voice notes and talks sometimes on phone it’s not been easy. He was first working in a construction company as a labour when he first got there those ones used to owe them and the work is crazy hard. Now he works for their government LAWMA i.e road sweeper and earn just 75k monthly though they gave them an accommodation like the guy said(hostel type). The different now is they’ve done his 2yrs resident permit and his passport is with his employer. The type of information he can share with me he can’t share it with other people he would just tell you that he’s not discouraging you from coming but pray and you have to be strong. He just got his permit like 2 months ago which means he won’t be home anytime soon until next year August or September once the permit is 1 year.

I earn double of that in Naija and yet I dey complain. God forgives me.

It’s possible though, some people are lucky in this country while some aren’t. Besides, the guy is just a secondary school cert holder no handwork or any skill than general cleaning and fumigation skills. May God help us
