When are we having a regulatory commission to carry out similar investigation in Nigeria?

It's people and their money, o great hater of the church. Please ask also, whose money is used to sponsor people for hajj? Is it personal money or taxpayer's money? Should the hundreds of billions used for hajj from government coffers be subject to investigation too?

Our people dont think. They dont ask their pastors the right question.

When are we having a regulatory commission to carry out similar investigation in Nigeria? The British brought Christianity to Nigeria and they are sensible enough to create a commission to regulate churches in their country. But in Nigeria, Churches are untouchable and pastors are beyond reproach.

The last time someone at Financial reporting council of Nigeria attempted to issue a regulatory code to guide the operation of churches, he was fired in less than a week after the issuance of the code.
The probe is being done by UK charity commission and not a Church regulatory commission.
Messages matter when dealing with this kind of case.

The guy that got fired didn't think through his action given the influence of religion in Nigeria.
Rather than target its messaging to registered NGOs, he got caught up in a religious fight.

The Lagos anti-noise pollution agency(LASEPA) has been quite successful because it didn't
target churches in hits messaging even though they make most of the noise. LASEPA is seen as anti-noise and
not anti-church by most people.

There are various ways that the government can affect controversial changes but they mostly
choose the noisiest and confrontational approach.

The name it is called is not what matters but the duty bestowed on the body. FRCN wasn’t named church regulatory commission before they attacked and got the DG sacked.

The UK charity commission is investigation a church pastor and they are not doing it codedly. Why should government agencies be coded when it comes to investigating infractions committed by religious leaders? Are we more religious than those that introduced the religion to us?

There should be a strong regulatory commission for all charity organizations and NGOs, including Churches and Mosques. Don't single out the Churches.

And here i am foolishly thinking the gullible ones reside only in Nigeria.

Seems living abroad, having better access to education in this internet age doesn't make people smarter.

This seems to be a Christian only phenomenon - taking advantage of gullible people's faith and believe to enrich pastors and church workers.

This man only came public recently over his intention to help raise Nigerian society, less privileged and I can remember he funded 2 or 3 people when he started his donation and charity for Nigerians, I'm surprised at this accusations, hope it's not the same way they treated air peace boss because he decided to bring back stranded Nigerians in south Africa and ever since then, they only came up with different fraud accusations. Pastor Tobi was planning to bring in investors to Nigeria as well and even some of his followers were asking him to go into politics. Well, we are watching. Happy Sunday Nairalanders, communicate with us if you want to make your aluminium windows. He was even planning to start a recycling company in Nigeria to create job opportunities as he claimed

Typical of an average shallow Nigerian.
U couldn't even wait for the investigation to be complete and u are here defending him. Are u part of the church's management? Oga church PRO.
Same bullshit u guys are doing for Airpeace boss. Let the accused go and clear their names. It's quite unreasonable to defend them when u were not part of their financial deals.

Good question.

It is the same reason why we have Sharia law in some Nigerian states.
It is the same reason why the Pakistani pedophile ring operated for long in Rochdale
and the police did nothing for fear of being labeled racists.

El Rufai attempted to license preachers a while back and thinks he could easily do it
but he learned the hard way. I believe he could have been successful had he chose a
different path.

Special treatment or consideration happens everywhere and is a fact of life though it depends largely on culture.

You can't just wish the Nigeria you want into existence.

if only you could understand my write-up, you won't say this. Did I defend him? This is an accusation to him and my comments didn't say he did it or not, what I wrote was just what he did and what he intends to do(will I believe it or not? So many people promise the less privileged and won't fulfill) in most cases are Audio supports, Can you please manage your anger. Thank you

The churches have to be guaranteed their right of existence. Imams are not trained, they are not regulated by senior figures, they have to pass through no screening, they are regularly involved in sex with minors, financial accountability is nonexistent. However the church haters label every local criminal 'renowned prophet.'

First of all, agree that the churches have a right to exist. We train people to be holy. We are routinely ganged up against in government settings, all for the name of Christ. Nairaland is now decidedly anti Christian.

YET, WE AIN'T GOING NOWHERE.

its a very powerful tool that people don't seem to be aware of. The same technique used by islamic terrorists to convince someone to set a bomb and blow themselves up, just different programming language.

Until we do away with any form of religion,we can never see meaningful progress in this country.

The real reason why systems in Nigeria are being hijacked to drag the entire country into the abyss is simple: the majority are unemployed, therefore having time to attend special prayer programs in church. The churches grew on account of this.
Trying to demonize churches now is futile. Many of us are finding employment and succour in church now, especially with the government skewed against Christians.
Maybe you should try employing the majority of the people, and they might be too busy to do church as they do it now.

Oga, do you know why it will be difficult to regulate religion in Nigeria? The answer is simple, politicians need them to win election and the religious leaders in tge country recognize this fact and they are taking advantage of it..
