It's amazing how govt seems so helpless and lost when it comes to fixing its refineries improve Nigeria's local capacity for refining. But they always energised when d issue of dangote refinery comes up |

sulaak: How can the sell them when they are nowhere near optimal performance? Why sell at a massive loss? They are currently renovating all four refineries. The first step is to have them working. It's not Buhari's fault Jonathan and co neglected them. 1 Like |

Jestin: Why not? The countries Nigerians are rushing off to are they not dependent on private refineries and businesses?! Meanwhile, the 4 government refineries in Nigeria are near-comatose but spend hundreds of millions of US dollars periodically on TAM. > 1 Like |

ednut1: The sad thing was that many of the chattering class were actually praising Yar'Adua... Because seemingly Nigerians would rather "own" 100% of NOTHING than a small percentage of something! Meanwhile in the 12 years since Yar'Adua's blunder... Nigeria has probably spent about US$50-60 billion importing products (enough for about 15 new refineries). > 1 Like |

when Atiku said the only way for our refineries to function optimally is to privatise NNPC...Idiots keep saying Atiku has come to sell NNPC...And now the whole country has to depend on one man to get his refinery working before they could make progress...Mind you go check Nigeria's budget and check how much is allocated to NNPC with increased fuel subsidy Buhari is Fraud! 1 Like |

spacechuks: They didn't "give" Dangote anything.... Nigerians have such a rent-seeking mindset that they are always thinking 'allocation'! This is an INVESTMENT financed entirely by Dangote (through equity and debt)... And it's a RISKY one, which is why the 28 other private refineries licensees BEFORE Dangote did jack! > 2 Likes 1 Share |

Isn’t it funny/ridiculous how our clueless leaders is trying to make us believe one person is richer than Nigeria?? How federal government is boasting how that one man is able to set up from scratch what the federal government couldn’t set up even when they have the ones they can just repair How the federal government is now saying boastfully that they are waiting on just one man to create job opportunities which they are supposed to create?? What would be the hope of the masses even when the federal government is at the mercy of just one man?? Atleast, we’ve always had clueless people at the helms of affairs but they were sensible and cautious enough to cover some shames, but being reckless with their words and cautions is the most ridiculous thing about this dispensation May God help our situation.

Jestin: That's exactly how it should be. In fact, we should be depending on many private refineries to stop the importation of fuel. It certainly shouldn't be government refineries. 7 Likes 3 Shares |

sulaak: sulaak: It's neither state capture nor a monopoly.... There were at least TWENTY-EIGHT (28) private refinery licenses BEFORE Dangote got a license. In fact, if either of you want to build a refinery... You are free to approach the DPR and apply for a license (with supporting evidence of course)! > 1 Like |

onecoder: YES! Before the likes of Dangote (and BUA) started producing cement locally.... Nigeria was the WORLD'S SECOND-LARGEST IMPORTER OF CEMENT (after the US). Local production of cement by indigenous producers like Dangote (and BUA)... Forced foreign companies like LaFarge to upgrade their old plants and invest in new ones. Local production and competition also raised the quality of cement... From the old 32.5R grade to Dangote's 52.5R (matching the top grade globally). It also has created THOUSANDS OF JOBS IN NIGERIA (across the entire value chain)... And not only saved billions of forex in imports, but also earns Nigeria forex in EXPORTS! > 1 Like |

Biglittlelois: Hydrocarbons will still play a large role in our lives and economies for most (if not all) our lives... Norway and Canada (both leading environmental nations) gave out the HIGHEST number of oil prospecting licenses this year! The US is exploring previously excluded prospecting areas and investing in shale... While several advanced nations are currently locked in a struggle over the Artic's oil resources! > 1 Like |

You people that get irritated whenever you hear any good news about this country, it's time the government Conduct's paternity and DNA test, to know which country you people actually came from. Because it's only an enemy or a spy that behaves the way you people do. |

Rossikk:This your vex make brain is so on point. We as a people can be delusional sometimes, FG has 4 refineries which have never exceeded 50% production capacity in almost 30 years. Someone as come in to do his own and we are complaining. I expect that as soon as Dangote completes this refinery, we may have more private investment in this sector, especially with modular refineries which are cheaper to build. |

Emefiele said the same thing late 2015 and repeated it early 2016 . He said the refinery would be operational by 2018. Later, it was postponed to 2019 and now to anytime it is completed. No more authentic delivery date. I believed Dangote has received so much assistance from Federal Government on this refinery which he is using to simultaneously develop other projects in other African countries and Nigeria. He has expanded his businesses using the Commonwealth of Nigeria. |
