Nigeria is one of the hardest place to survive in planet earth. If we can make it here; We can make it anywhere

It is not a matter they can make it anywhere .. But once you are in control environment that has consequences for breaking the law or consequences for their actions. You have no choice other than to complied and behave....

Most of uber drivers in Nigeria saying they can't take sh*t from any rider .. Most would not try that in the USA, regardless of immigration status .. The way you think the outcome might be, might be different from the reality.. . For example you beat up a female rider in the USA, or not even beat her ..You happen to push her and she calls the cops. You thinking that camera no dey na my word against the woman. You already thinking nothing go happen, . The cops shows and sees the rider crying.. The cop will automatically arrest for assault charges. Now you now have to go to court to prove your innocence.. That include getting a lawyer and paying for. And depending on the outcome you might have a record on your file .. You are now out of a job, so what is next after that.. My point is to handle the situation smartly .

The kind of environment like USA breeds riders that's different from riders of our environment. Alots of issues that arises here between driver and riders won't happen there.

Like transfer issue or rider wanting you to pick up in a non motorable road/street. Just to mention a few .Calling the cop is a two way thing you see. If a rider do something that may cause a driver to assault a rider the driver will also call the cop for the rider.

Mind you, I have never nor advocating for physical assault. If you refuse to leave my vehicle when i ask you to. I know what to do without breaking any law. There are things you may not understand. Do this work for leisure for just 1 week here then you will understand better. Still, takes sh*t from no body

Maybe if it is possible to do research for few months ..we can compare Nigeria riders vs USA in both hostile environment and sane environment.... Years ago before uber, taxi drivers were getting rob and killed in New York and other parts of the US. Even with uber now, drivers were getting assaulted, accuse of rape etc. A lot of drivers starting installing cameras in their car ....If a person is bad, the person is regardless the environment.

The best way to curb bad riders in the Nigerian environment is to follow uber policy.... If you are ask to do something against policy of uber . You calmly say no and rate them accordingly .. Most drivers am sure don't even rate their riders.. The rating system is to help weed out bad riders and driver .. So rate them...

Now if you can't handle rude riders, that yell and scream etc .. And than you get easily upset and angry.. Uber is not for you.. Because even in the USA you have those type of ghetto riders or co worker that gets you so mad that you just want to land them hot slap.. So if you are landing everyone hot slaps that disrespects you , you either end up in jail or dead.. Yankee is free country, we have more private gun owners than any country in the world.. How do our politicians behave when they get over there? Don't they obey the law? Of course they do! They don't chase away pedestrian and motorist with convoys when they find themselves in that environment

So, your environment affects peoples behavior. Psychology affirms it.
It affects the person. An article of Lehigh university confirms it.

As for rating, uber automatically gives riders 5stars. And gives the drivers no stars automatically. The driver will have to approved it before embarking on a new trip. He can approved 5 star for rider mistakenly. But cannot approved 1 or 2 or 3 mistakenly. The riders rating is inconsequential. Riders can open multiple account on bolt just to get bonus. But drivers cant. And you think it has effect on them whatsoever. I have seen drivers account getting blocked because of rating. You can't say such for riders.

The driver can never edit a rating he gave a rider. A rider can edit the rating he gave a driver on uber after realising the driver gave him/her a low rating. So a driver that doesn't want his rating to drop will likely gives a rider a 5 star and in USA accumulated rating of 4.6 is likely to get the driver thrown out. Uber didn't specify for Benin but they know their benchmark.

You are the one bringing up violence reaction in your last paragraph I've never advocated for such. never have i share a story where i was violent. To my knowledge I've also not heard of another person talking of slap here. Don't take sh*t doesn't mean getting physical

There's a lot you don't understand. 1 week leisure work won't be bad idea. Enough said

Madame Radauto, it is waste of time explaining customers service to these drivers. Most of them can't work in a customer service industry in the USA...

On these matter me and you can relate .. Due to the fact not only on education level, not saying uber drivers are not educated. but been exposed internationally .. Since some unfortunately has never travel out of the shore of Nigeria .. It will be very hard for them to relate to you....

Lmaoooo you overhype your importance sir.

I’m sure most of these drivers have an “international exposure”.. you’re talking baselessly.

I do not support rude drivers, kudos to those who after getting insulted switch of the app to go home, or take a rest. They are the real customer service provider.

While a driver must learn that attitude matters, and like my trainer in UBER said back then,: the person you meet now, you may never meet them again in such a large city, so, why waste your energy”?.

Personally I prepare for the worse and pray for the best when going out for the day, so I’m never disappointed with riders attitude.... cos I was expecting it anyway.

But you always dropping gibberish and unrealistic quote just makes me laugh. I imagine you look like those preachers with red tie, green pants and black shoe.

Oga educated, oga traveler, oga they are not in my level.... wehdone sir!!!

You are right sir,
There's one that took my boss wife from international airport to Lekki, the guy clean up (nice face cap, white shirt, blue jean and a good canvas).
the woman was boiling because my boss kept her waiting for long (more than 3 hours) before I get there. The woman poured all her anger on the guy, I was just watching them, the slightest thing the woman will yell at the young man and all the guy will say is I'M SORRY MA. Me I was tired because from airport to Lekki was abuse upon abuse.

When we get home, the same guy asked me not to bother that he will offload the luggages, which he did to their flat (third floor).

After everything the woman asked him to come into the sitting room, offer him a seat.

She introduced herself to him (she's a nurse in Canada) then ask the driver if he is married and he said no.
The woman said that he is a good man with a good business mindset and a charming appearance.

To summarize the story, she gave the guy 10k for that trip
- she asked him to take her to Anambra the next day (drop off), after three days he went back for her (with her Range R)
- the three weeks vacation she came in Nigeria, its that guy that was her driver and he was earning 10k daily driving Range Rover around Lekki/Ikoyi. One or two trips a day.
- even when she travelled back she still call the guy and sent him some errands in Lagos/Anambra with good pay.
- they became best friends, she sits in front not behind when I asked her why she said the guy dress well and speaks good English.
- she introduced her to her friends, even my boss use the guy as well.

I asked the guy why he didn't abuse the woman, he said he's out there to make legitimate money, so anything that comes he endures, he's after the money not the insult, after all we no go see again, except by chance.

Appearance, Endurance and Approach gives you mega offline trips, you don't have to ask, it comes automatically (according to the driver)

Someone with sense!!! Kudos jare.. you’re not a quote person.

I’ve personally have riders referring others for offline base on attitude and that’s true. Even the runz girls that insults me, the worse I’ll do is keep quiet, never have I insulted any of them. And some we later got along. Attitude, approach and patience, mixed with a vodka of forgive n forget, then you’re good to go.

By the way, this is an advice, not a “I’m intentional” motivation wack talk.

Blow before you carry shoulder

What the likes of you and Dru23 don't understand is that we are all different! It all boils down to temperament. I repeat, IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO TEMPERAMENT. Just as our finger prints are unique, so is our temperament. You don't expect every human being to react same way to similar situations. That same I AM SORRY MA from driver A can become THUNDER FAYA U with driver B.

There are those you will never see react no matter what you throw at them. They are so thick skinned and mean.

But there are people like me who react energy for energy. I GIVE POSITIVE ENERGY FOR POSITIVE ENERGY. I ALSO GIVE DARK ENERGY FOR DARK ENERGY. Thats my principle of survival. I will use 3 different stories of my experience in Uber to illustrate.

Experience 1 (Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam Gbam)

Me: Hello Ma. Good afternoon. You requested for Bolt. Is this address correct and where are you heading to?

Rider: What kind of stuppid questions are these? Oga please hurry because am late. I don't have time to answer nonsense.

Me: Madam, begin to trek to your destination immediately. Because if you enter my car, sorry is your name.

The woman fear cancel immediately. undecided undecided undecided

Experience 2 (Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum)

Me: Hello Ma. You requested for Uber. Am at Lateef Jakande. I want to confirm your address is 100001 Acme road.

Rider: Why are you not on your way yet? Oga am tired of these nonsense from you drivers. Am very late for church. 2 drivers have cancelled on me and I will be very angry with you if you cancel.

Me: Madam is that a threat? Hope you know this is my car right and am not your personal driver? You must behave well mannered if you want this ride to happen. Be courteous of your next words because you lack courtesy.

Rider: You must be very stuppid for implying I lack manners.

Me: Madam THUNDER FAYA You. Nkita lachagi gi anya dia angry angry angry

I cancelled and blocked her line with immediate effect.

Experience 3 (Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum Tulululum)

Me: Hello Madam. Good afternoon. You requested for Uber. Are you at 51b blah blah blah Lekky county homes and where are you heading to

Rider: Hello sir. Good afternoon. Please am heading just close by to buy food. Please don't cancel on me as many drivers have cancelled. Am really hungry. Please will you come?

Me: Am on my way ma.

After Trip, Uber said I should collect 330. Seems she is on small bonus. Madam gave me 400. I told her to keep it coz I wanted her to eat more.

Its my car after all and I can decide who to give free ride or not. undecided undecided undecided

MORAL OF STORY

Ehailing in Nigeria is more of survival. You can be nice and die there being nice. Nobody really gives a fucck about you in this country especially in a cosmopolitan city like Lagos where everybody is mad and angry.

Nigerians are highly exploitative. Most of them that are nice to you is because they are already scheming on how to use you for one ulterior motive or the other. You mentioned he was asking the driver if he was married. What has that question got to do with anything?

In fact to me, that driver is very stuppid for entering the woman's house after the job. What if she accuse him of rape? What if she is a human parts dealer or a drug trafficker? You mentioned Anambra. Am from Ananmbra and am not trying to stereotype. But what if that woman was already seeing the young man as a conduit for drugs to Indonesia or Thailand? So many what ifs!

As far as am concerned, my work with you ends immediately I drop you. Infact, I clear call log after every trip to avoid temptation of calling you back or "keeping in touch".

In summary sir, Being nice in the face of obvious hostility can cost you your life in Lagos or elsewhere in Nigeria. This is not Europe. Things can escalate pretty quickly if you don't act smart.

By the way if I may ask, Dru23 that has been saying things about being enduring and humble in the Service industry in order to become a boss... What has he achieved with his live aside retailing Mobil oil and arguing with people on Nairaland?

Well maybe you do Uber for fun sha, cos 60% of customers and above will give a bad attitude.. you’ll lose customers on this! For real
