This has been on my back since last year. Its not painful but its disfiguring. I can't pull my shirt in public without feeling embarrassed.

You need to see a doctor fast, it could be your lymph nodes infected. Usually it could be nothing but it could be a sign of cancer. I'm sorry to scare you but a swollen lymph node that is hard and not going down is a sign of something serious so please go to your doctor ASAP. Please
