Joe Aribo believes he’s a changed man.

The Rangers midfielder admits that people used to accuse him of lacking mental strength.

His ability on the ball was never in doubt, but some wondered if he had the character to be a really top player.

Moving from Charlton Athletic to Rangers was always going to put that to the test.

The history of Scottish football is littered with players who find the pressure of representing one of the Old Firm is too hard to handle.

Aribo insists that coping with a nail-biter like Rangers’ tense 1-1 draw with Young Boys that sent them into the knock-out stage of the Europa League, shows he is made of stern stuff.

He said: “Playing in England was relentless, but the difference here is that we have to win every game.

“In the lower leagues down south, there just isn’t that level of pressure. You could lose and, although it hurt, you felt like there was always next week.

“There was less expectancy at Charlton. We won a lot of games, but it wasn’t like it is here.

“Rangers are one of the giants and that brings so much pressure.

“We have to battle with them across the road every single week.

“For me, it’s made me a better character. It’s made me back myself more.

“In the past, some people might have said I was a bit weak-minded, but being here has definitely made me the person I’m going to be in the future.

“Before, I was too inconsistent. I’d be good one week, then the next week maybe not so good.

“I’ve learned up here that I need to be on it every single game, or I won’t play.”

There will be some Rangers supporters who feel there’s still a bit of work to do when it comes to consistency.

Aribo, however, is up for the challenge of proving to them, and boss Steven Gerrard, that he should be a regular in the team.

He went on: “It’s a mindset of telling yourself not to be scared, to get on the ball and be relentless.

“You have to ask yourself, ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’.

“Whether people think they’ve seen the best of me so far is for them to judge. But, for me, there’s more to come. “

In just five months, the 23-year-old has jumped from League One to Scotland’s top flight, sampled European football, played in a cup final and become a full international with Nigeria.

He went on: “Getting to the knock-out stages in Europe is definitely the highlight of it all so far. This is a massive one.

“I’ve also had success at international level.

“But, to be honest, I haven’t really had time to sit down and take it all in.”

Frank Lampard will be given the green light to spend in January after FIFA rescinded what was left of Chelsea's registration ban with regards to new signings, and the Blues are now understood to be closely monitoring the progress of Samuel Chukwueze. The Nigerian has found a rich vein of form since the start of the 2018/19 season, and has appeared as an option for Chelsea as they look to secure their future for an era after both Willian and Pedro have left Stamford Bridge.

It was initially mooted that Chelsea were looking to bring Jadon Sancho back to England in January, but according to the Telegraph, such a deal would perhaps been too complex to complete at this juncture. The same report details Chelsea's long-standing interest in Chukwueze, and the Villarreal star is an option to replenish the Blues' forward options.

He is one of a number of options to solve this problem, particularly in a wide-forward area, alongside Wilfried Zaha and Leon Bailey.Moussa Dembele would be one of Lampard's first choices to provide competition for Tammy Abraham in attack, and this looked like a deal that would be quite easy to complete given Rudi Garcia's aversion to using the former Celtic goalscorer since he was appointed.

However, two cruciate ligament injuries to both Memphis Depay and Jeff Reine-Adelaide have left Garcia alarmingly short in attack, and Dembele is now expected to be considered untouchable by the French club. The Telegraph go onto state that Chelsea have more than 175 million euros to spend on attacking reinforcements in the winter window, and that would certainly be enough to secure Chukwueze's signature.

His current buyout clause stands at 60 million euros, but the Spanish club are battling hard to find a way to increase that to 80 million euros as part of a contract extension.

Spanish Laliga side Villarreal have loaned out their newly signed Nigerian trio Chukwuka Johnson, Aimufua Junior and Johnson Kalu to leagues where they will be able to get game time that they quicken their development.

Chukwuka who is a right winger has been loaned out to Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes where he will play for their B team who are playing in the second division in Portugal unlike in Spain where he would have been turning out for the B team in the 4th division.

The duo of Junior and Kalu are set to be sent on loan as well to teams with interest in their services coming from teams in Slovenia and Czech Republic but a decision is yet to be reached on their potential destination.

Speaking on the development, their intermediary Babawo Mohammed told Owngoalnigeria.com that the idea is for their development to be hasten as they won’t face much competition at their loan side like they are facing at Villarreal at the moment.

” ‎The decision to loan them out is entirely that of Villarreal which is for the good of the players. They need constant game time and moving to a league where the pressure and demand is less will no doubt do them well. It will quicken their development and hopefully they will return to Villarreal as better players”.

1 - Victor Osimhen has now scored at least 1 goal in every eligible competition (aside his cameo in the Afcon) he has featured in for both club and country this season - bagging 16 goals in the process. Unstoppable.

Yes that's quite correct the IN- FORM players of the week essentially for each game of the EPL in the week.

The methodology is that each week stats are collected over a myriad of items. It's quite an elaborate system but it's at the end of the season that all the stats are collated to give an over all picture on FORM.

Ndidi is a regular in this weekly widely fluctuating assessments.

See screen shots below.

You jumped into quickly without established the assessment methodology and structure as well as rational behind the weekly match day stats.

It's players who performed in a particular match in the week.

Ndidi is placed at no.38 and KC 48.

That's the first time he has made that top 50 in a very long time.

The argument centred on what you define IN-FORM to be. Or you could say what is it in general accepted to be in the context of football in Europe.

My definition was reflective of the generally accepted definition predominantly used on football. Which is essentially over a series of games of consistent outstanding performances to conclude that a player is IN- FORM.

I guess everyone can create thier own

igeria Football Federation President Amaju Pinnick has disclosed that Benin City will host Nigeria's first 2022 World Cup qualifying match in March 2020.

The draw for the second round of the World Cup qualifiers will hold at the Nile Ritz-Carlton in Cairo, Egypt on 21 January 2020.

"This is a historic city and you cannot talk about Nigerian football without talking about Edo state," Pinnick said in an interview with Brila FM after the NFF Congress held at the ancient city.

"At a time we had five (Nigeria) Premier League clubs from Benin City - Flash Flamingoes, Bendel United, Bendel Insurance all these clubs were in Benin and they paraded most of the Super Eagles players so football is coming home and that's why we are bringing the first World Cup qualifying match to Benin City," Pinnick stated.

The 14 winners of the first round qualifiers joins the 26 top seeded teams to form ten groups of four contestants each based on the December 2019 FIFA rankings with the ten group winners then advancing to the final round where the five qualified teams for Qatar 2022 will emerge.

The last time Benin City hosted a major qualifying match for Nigeria's men's team was between 2011 and 2012 during qualifiers for the football event of the London 2012 Olympics which Nigeria like the 2020 edition failed to qualify for.

Nigeria have participated at six editions of the World Cup between 1994 and 2018 with the only absence at the tournament being the 2006 World Cup in Germany

Duncan Ferguson is a Scotsman that is very blunt and has no hesitation in benching you if you don't perform.

Look how he took off Keane unprecedented, how can you remove the substitute after 18 minutes. This Ferguson is ruthless, make no mistake.

His treatment of Moise Keane was beyond harsh but sent the right message. If a player is not ready to run his socks off for the team, then he has no place in the team.

I feel Duncan Ferguson is conservative in his approach but I admire his desire for every player to put in a large share in work rate for the team.
