Just as your kind have bastardized our educational system, politicized everything that has to do with education.

Favour your unqualified cronies and their wards with lecturing jobs in our universities.

Unqualified lecturers who does not know the value of research project and how to assess students on it because politicians favoured them with lecturing jobs.

It is only in this country that a professor will rig an election for an illiterate
Eyaaa...

I can clearly see what those unqualified lecturers have done to your grammar.

Sorry.

For those old politicians saying that Nigeria has to be restructured for development to come, but what they don't understand is the fact that Nigerians lack the necessary intellectual capacity to build a modern and prosperous society. The preconditions for building a modern industrial civilization are the quality of education a country gives its citizens and also the determination of its leadership to make sure resources are mobilized towards industrialization at a rapid pace. All these are absent in Nigeria which makes development seems difficult. It doesn't matter who becomes the president or the governor, Nigerians are intellectually backward to provide sound leadership for the nation. For you to understand my argument you just have to take a stock of what even the younger ones are saying on a platform like this. You will feel sorry for Nigeria when you go through what Nigerian youths discuss on social media daily, it is as if there is no a medicum of rationality in us again. No matter what anybody is saying as regards Nigerian development, the fact remains that we are not capable of building a modern society with prosperity for at least 80 percent of the population. We lack the capacity for enlightenment and scientific rationality which are needed for modern society. Even if the country gets broken up into different parts today, the underlying issues of poverty and bad leadership will continue to predominate because as a people ,Nigerians do not have the rationality and intellect to solve problems. What is going to happen henceforth amid all this is a brazen continuation of the scramble for power for personal aggrandizement. Since government remains the only truly dispenser of forture in a resource-rich country like Nigeria, politics will continue to be a do or die affairs with all the consequences that will follow. It will be a mistake for anybody to expect Nigeria to move toward a mature politics, instead we are still going to witness more political killings and all sort of electoral fraud because for a politician power is the ultimate. Africans are just too uneducated and weak to compete with America, Europe and Asia in anything.

The usual rhetoric and grammar to confuse the masses and youths that they are the problem and that they don’t have the capacity to lead or takeover from this corrupt set of politicians.

What have those of them in politics who smoked abroad and went to Harvard achieved for the country or their states beyond public toilets.

The tertiary institutions have their problems bt that problem doesn’t immediately affect governance as leadership qualities is beyond just university knowledge. We lack credible youths and to worsen matter 90% of current politicians are not credible and are bad examples for the youths to follow.

Useless sets of docile and incompetent politicians

I this politician use to be rated with the civil service structure when I was growing up .
The civil servant have grossly bastardized this nation to the point that they privately collaborate with politicians to destroy this great nation !!!
Let us go back to memory lane and see the level of atrocities that the political class has committed in the history of the country !!! It can be possible if the civil servant had stood up for justice .
We are not suppose to be discussing on salary !!!
Danjuma said it we are in a dip hole .!!
And it’s basically the civil servant to plunge us into this situation. .

That is the reason Hon Gbajabiamila can be making such derogatory statement about our great institutions.
How much has the FGN allocated for researches and how many of great recommendations has the politician use for the growth of this nation !!!!
It’s just so unfortunate that we are in such a situation in this nation .

anonimi:
I thought that is more or less what politicians also do and get paid multiple times what the teachers earn while doing absolutely nothing.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, on Thursday said tertiary education system in the country “is severely and dangerously lacking in capabilities needed to build a nation.”

He said a decline in the quality of scholarship and academic output and of the graduates coming out of tertiary institutions were the clearest confirmation that Nigerian tertiary institutions lacked the capacity to build a nation that would survive through the current moment of change and turbulence.

Gbajabiamila spoke in Osogbo, Osun State, while delivering the 1st Tunde Ponnle Annual Lecture titled, ‘Building a Tertiary Truly 21st Century University: Task Beyond Government,’ held on the main campus of the Osun State University.

Suggesting solutions to the problems, Gbajabiamila said issues of curriculum and teaching methods, as well as fair assessment, should be part of any reform considerations.

He called for a review of curricula and teaching methods with a view to situating Nigerian practices in the context of global labour needs.

Gbajabiamila said, “Collaborations between our higher institutions and the organised private sector is vital to carry out the essential work of engagement, research and review that is required at this time to bridge the gaps in our knowledge.

“We need to do this as a necessary precursor to focusing national attention on these issues so that we can jointly rise to the demands of the moment. This is an objective that we cannot, for the sake of our future, leave to government.”

LET EACH REGION HAVE AUTONOMY OVER ITS OWN STANDARD AND QUALITY OF EDUCATION.

THERE IS FEDERAL CONTROL FROM ABUJA AND IT IS AFFECTING NIGERIA 'S STANDARD OF EDUCATION.

I have said it many times here, unless our tertiary is restructured and relay the foundation on solid ground, believe me, our schools are only recruiting potential unemployable youths and grammarians only. No matter how much government keeps spending on the present system of education, it will never yield desirable results
Re: Gbajabiamila: Nigeria’s Tertiary Institutions Lack Capacity To Solve Problems by Kei144(m): 7:54pm On Dec 20, 2019
The problem with Nigeria's tertiary institutions is that the teachers are not sufficiently experienced in the areas that they teach. Using postgraduate students to churn out journal papers and rapidly rise to the rank of a professor does not make anyone to be experienced. How many teachers in Nigeria's tertiary institutions can describe their practical experiences in their fields of discourse to the students? As the late Prof. L.U. Agu taught us EE 211 in UNN in those days, he told us some things they did in the Nigeria Railway in the 60s. As Prof. C.C. Ezeilo taught us Engr 101 in UNN, he told us some of their experiences in making rockets in Biafra. When you listen to a teacher who is practically-experienced in the field he is teaching, it makes a lot of impact.

Myself, as I taught Fourier analysis to my students, they asked me about possible practical applications of this Fourier analysis thing in the industry. I replied to them that you won't be solving any Fourier analysis math in the industry, but without the knowledge of Fourier analysis, you will not be able to understand a lot of things about electronic communications. It takes some practical exposure to be able to answer some questions that very intelligent students can throw.
