We have seen and heard worst cases like this.

I heard a recent news Some months ago, a returnee from Europe was shot dead by Sars operatives in Benin city.


If someone is a Suspect or even found out to a criminal, the right thing to do is to take the person to prison and charge him or her to court of law.

In the case of taking the person and forcefully making him/her make financial withdrawal from the POS or ATM, makes the Police a criminal and guilty of extortion and obstruction of justice, violation of the human right and an attempted murder by shooting in the air or trying to shoot him.

I wanted to respond but I felt it would be too difficult to convince anyone that the sky is blue.

If he did something wrong, the right thing to do is penalize him, respectfully, not use his situation to extort him. It’s a crime to give or accept bribe or extort someone for whatever reason.

He he is not the first person to make this accusation though. Between October and December alone, we've heard more than 6 of such occurrences.

I am amazed at how some people treat serious issues with the same levity as they do with issues of no significance or importance. How can people make light of a scenario where those that are meant to serve and protect the citizens are extorting the same at gunpoint? Some even went further to blame the victim for his ordeal and adduced that he would count himself lucky. How did people become so numb to the excesses and brutal treatment of citizens by these rogues that criminal acts have become normalized and part of everyday life? It is really sad that Nigerians had been browbeaten so badly that they have started to root for their captors and tormentors. I am truly dumbfounded. This is one of the main reasons why things would NEVER change for the better in the country because citizens have a lackadaisical attitude about things that should have mattered if it was in another country besides Nigeria. We have come to accept, justify and even glorify bad and illegal behaviors!

Take it or leave it, SARS are hardened criminals who can do everything possible to anyone whether you are innocent or not and most cases are innocent victims. I paid 3times what this guy paid after been kept from 11am till 4pm on there patrol post. No ATM was working in Ughelli, we had to drive to Warri to use ATM. It was like that because they had my phone if not it would never be so. At the end one was asking me to give his daughter IT placement in my firm. To SARS, it is a crime to be a successful youth without police escort in Nigeria. End of Story. Like i said, pray you dont meet the fools and senseless ones.

I have had an encounter with SARS...I was carrying my laptop without its invoice. I just gave them 1k and they let me go.

Again, there must be something these guys don't tell us.

It's either they found something incriminating on them or they tried to prove to the operatives that "They know their rights." SARS cannot ask you to pay 50k for doing nothing.

For all those nonentities quoting me with insults, they asked me go home, get the invoice and come carry my PC.

It was not convenient for me, so I sought a way out. They asked me to pay 10k initially, and we finally settled for 1k.

If you give SARS 50k and above, you should tell us why you did that. Mind you, the minute those guys stop you, they will start searching you for incriminating evidence. I have had several experiences...I am not saying it because I was told.
