Gowon! A man who couldn't say 'pim' concerning Aburi while His Excellency Nna anyi, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu was alive now turning into NTA. What stopped him from telling all these tales by moonlight wheN His Excellency was alive. My dad told me that there's a certain stage in a man's life when he really stops lying. Yakubu Gowon ain't you up to that stage? |

Oshigun:I tried to ignore you yet your posts kept exposing your naivety and I said to myself that perhaps, you need someone to guide your thought process. What led to the war in the first place? Was it that Ojukwu just woke up to declare a new country or was it because Nigeria couldn't protect the easterners from the continuous pogrom they faced while the supposed government looked the other way. If you were the leader of the easterners, what will you have done in that situation? Go begging an illegitimate government or standing up to defend those directly under your jurisdiction? Ojukwu who was once a staunch supporter of a United Nigeria still dialogued at Aburi to see to the safety of his constituency by ensuring that no decision on any region will be taken without the agreements of the other military governors of various regions. This was agreed upon by all those present at Aburi and they all signed. While this was on going, Igbos and other Easterners were still being killed en masse in the north. Upon their return from Ghana, Gowon unilaterally divided the regions into states flouting the agreement they hitherto had. This is where the easterners totally lost any trust they had for Gowon and they knew they couldn't trust him to secure them any more. Ojukwu declared Biafra three days after that as mandated by the Eastern assembly. You can see Gowon saying it was on the interpretation of Aburi that they differed. Any sincere individual will want to know the contents of the Aburi Accord. While Ojukwu screamed 'on Aburi we stand', Gowon was shouting 'on Aburi you'll fall'. What were the contents of the Aburi Accord? Won't you want to know so you know who was not being truthful? Right after the war, Gowon and his likes started saying Ojukwu wanted to separate Nigeria while himself, wanted Nigeria one. Was Gowon thinking about a Nigeria where Igbos and other Easterners will be murdered any how and we just accept it and move on just the way fulani herdsmen and the Kanuri Boko haram have been wiping off Christian groups silently today? If that's his intention, then I'll tell him that we are not weaklings. Of course he supervised the Nigerian side and had his fair share of the apprehensions when the federal forces were been decimated. European journalists were on ground inside Biafra to cover the atrocities committed on helpless villagers by the frustrated Nigerian soldiers whenever they suffer heavy casualties from the Biafran soldiers. The records are there. If you can't believe our 'lies', won't you believe the videos too? Till date Igbos have made it known that they don't want to remain Nigerians with you yet some of your people will be asking silly questions like; why do you people keep on moving into our region? Support the creation of Biafra and after her creation, ban Igbos from moving into Nigeria. Isn't that simple? Igbos only lose the right to move to any region in Nigeria after Biafra have been created not before. |

Eventually the unity fought for with blood of millions of Nigeria is only but fragile one as we are still divided. May be it could have been a wise idea to let Biafra come alive instead of stifling life out of it. Can there ever be unity with the way we are going? |

femolii:It will amount to an exercise in futility to waste my energy on an insufferable coward like you. It is obvious you are incapable of exercising intuitive reasoning or else you wouldnt be making out they way you are... Two parties in a conflict co-signed an agreement to avert an impeding civil war. One of the parties attended the conference with the full complement of her diplomatic and intellectual team. It signed the agreement without coercion. Anybody with half a brain can see that Gowon never intended to act in good faith. Can you explain what Gowon meant by " On Aburi you fall"? Was he saying that the accord as signed at Aburi was a waste of everyone's time? Ogbeni, try and do some thinking... |
