Oga nurey and others. Please help me to compare 07 TL and Lexus is 250 of the same year thanks

Design

Acura TL is called a sport car, good front finish crap rear finish was with uku at the rear

Lexus IS250 poor front finish very bad placement and design of lamp and bumper but the rear is a touch of explicit.

Performance

Acura TL of that generation 07-08 drives far better than the IS whether it is the base 3.2 or the sportier 3.5. Infact the Acura was improved on every year from 04 in terms of performance and premium.

The TL 3.2 does 0-60 in 6.9s

TL 3.5 does it in 5.4s (G35 got it's work cut out for it)

IS250 manages to do it in 7.4s

Interior and luxury

Both vehicles are pretty close and pack a tight punch but in design, extra and finish the base Lexus is whao but the 3.5 TL adds paddle shifter and a manual tranny the dream of every sport driver.

Maintenance and parts

Acura TL is a bit above since it shares parts with Honda Accord the only issue is the 3.2L Engine in the TL seems it's the only popular product from Honda that carries a 3.2L V6 but the 3.5 Engine of the TL is popular. The IS250 Engine is not more than 120k which is the cheapest of the lot. IS250 is a shortbase GS a highly premium and expensive Lexus.

Fuel economy, Toyota product always find a way to stay on top.

MY verdict would be to rather buy a TL with 3.5L or if it's the 3.2L get a manual tranny the TL with 3.2L was skeptical to be affected by the transmission issues but if you can be judicious with the maintenance and schedule change of fluid at the right time, you may have peace of mind.

Wrong assertion.

1. Acura TL is a compact luxury sedan. Lexus IS is a compact luxury sports sedan.

2. Every detail and design of every mainstream big time car is well thought out, subjected to scientific scrutiny, crash tests, NVH level tests and also aerodynamic tests both on computer simulator and in real world before they're premiered. So the front end of an IS is not poorly thought after. In fact it integrates well into the design theme and is more aerodynamic than you think, it's got around .28Cd on that front end making it very sleek with little air turbulence upfront and the rear end is also there to reduce turbulence.

You mixed up those struck out lines.

Before you quote me or strike-through my conversations, you better come up with facts to counter them. Else, you'll be called an audio car guru.

BTW, I think you're thinking that because the Lexus IS is a rear wheel implies it will handle better than the Acura... You must be kidney me if that is just your sole proof. grin

Again, base for base and Type S for AWD, I tell you the Lexus is not a match when it comes to speed, performance and handling when compared with the TL.

I deliberately did not want to go to the stereo and some other follow come gadgets... Lemme leave those for gazzuzz, nurey, heavenlybang to comment on.

Meanwhile, chew on this first before you reply my mention:

Horsepower:

Lexus IS: 204 @ 6,400 rpm

Acura TL: 258 @ 6,200 rpm

Torque:

Lexus IS: 185 @ 4,800 rpm

Acura TL: 233 @ 5,000 rpm.

I believe this.

He struck out where I gave credits to the Acura in terms of speed, performance and handling, but he didn't strike it in your quote. I thing that kingreign guy is confused and getting things mixed up.

For the fact that guys do not comment every time a question is asked does not mean they do not know about cars.

Guide people with their thoughts on what to buy so they do not have regrets later. Do not misguide them.

Firstly.i never went about engine power output. And yes, handling wise, the IS will beat the TL it's a rear wheel drive, a more balanced weight distribution. If we are talking about AWD it's similar in both. May I also remind you your TL is print to torque steer even if it's an SH-AWD don't argue with me as I've experienced it alot when test driving them.

If we choose to go all about power bring out that acura same year model that trumps the IS-F

The TL is hardly a compact sedan.

I won't argue with you on this since you're the only one that has test driven-both.

Wrong. Study more on car size classification by markets. TL is an entry level luxury, and a compact executive sedan.

EPA classifies it as a compact executive sedan.

2007 IS 250 is 180.1 inches long.
2008 G35 is 187 inches long.
2007 Acura TL is 189.3 inches long.
2007 Lexus ES350 is 191.1 inches long.
2007 Camry is 189.2 inches long.

The TL is just about the same length as the Camry and ES350. There's no way it's a compact car.

Bro, you're absolutely wrong. Interior volume, dimensions and exterior volumes and dimensions.

Now, in certain quarters, a 2008-2012 Honda accord is classified as a mid sized sedan, and in some other quarters, it's regarded as a full sized sedan.

Now, is it bigger than Camry 07-11? Yes!
Is it bigger than an Avalon? No!

Car classification by size is loosely defined base on regions. In US, a TL, G series, IS, C klasse, A4, 3series are all compact entry level.

May I also correct the assertion that TL Is similar size with ES, that's absolutely wrong. Rather the RL is.

Maybe I shouldn’t have compared. Thing is, I’m tired of Toyota for now.

Is 2008 Ford Edge a solid car?

In terms of reliability, ease and cost of maintenance and resale value in Nigeria

It's more nuanced than that, really. A G and TL may be considered compact but that's just because they're the smallest cars in the series.

I reiterate, a TL is hardly a compact car. Sit in a Camry and a TL and you'll see that both are extremely similar in terms of volume. The Camry isn't considered compact, why should the TL be?

Read EPA classification based on dimensions and classifications you'd understand better wink
