nemesis8u:Its funny when people begin screaming TRACON. Even NAF has "begged" the FG for a similar Military project to TRACON. As it stands, our NAF radars exists in NAF bases in select parts of the country and can only provide coverage to that Air corridor |

Odunayaw: It is meaningless the position of your base when you have a fighter that can hit that base and return to her home base. |

kabe1:NAF's doctrine is of the defensive-offensive stance hence through the History of NAF we've always operated Interceptors (Migs-F7) The thought process is that there'd be aggression against us FIRST. As Jimi said, it is for nothing that Major Air bases are deeper into the country. NAF has factored in CAS (ground roles generally) and Maritime Interdiction into that same Doctrine hence they settle for lightweight Multirole platforms. There are two things that happens once that sinks in; Everyone stops fanboy wish lists and "siddon and look" OR Everyone joins the military, move up the ladder till they can change things. Again the JF 17 meets the requirements for the country BUT doesn't exceed it. What we should be worried about is Numbers. This Neighborhood isn't North Africa, over here politics goes first. |

Breaking; Ukraine Auto Kraz military vehicle manufacturer announces a strategic partnership with Proforce to locally produce Nigeria's order of 1000 Kraz trucks. This is what DICON should be doing, leverage on preexisting defence companies to jointly produce vehicles with full tech transfer. http://www.autokraz.com.ua/index.php/en/novosti-i-media/news/item/4224-prat-avtokraz-oholoshuie-pro-pochatok-stratehichnoho-partnerstva-z-niheriiskoiu-kompaniieiu-proforce-limited 8 Likes

Jimi24: 2 problems or 3,actually. A 100% ready rate is impossible even for much less maintenance demanding turboprops given the training/ops/maintenance cycle. The IAF manages 70% IIRC since they began manufacturing some Su 30 subsystems. Also Russia isn't inclined to hurry up with after sales agreements for such a low number of aircraft. Ask Algerians and Indians how slow they were to fulfil the clause in the contract. And these guys bought 12 ship squadrons at a go! Would they break their arses for 3 ships? I think not! Fyi, the annual operational cost per Super Fulcrum is 5 mn USD; not much but a big bite out of other programs in a tight budget. Are Mig 35s sustainable in today's NAF? I don't think so! |

kabe1:partnerships like this will put Proforce on the map internationally...... However its paramount(pun not intended) that Proforce get support locally...... If the Nigerian army can field a sufficient number of Proforce products, which then will prove their combat readiness, could result in export customers |

jln115: From what I've gathered, the Federal Government has ordered 100 AutoKraz trucks, part of the requirement for this order is for Kraz to build in Nigeria. This agreement with Proforce is part of the fulfilment of Kraz obligation to Nigeria. If you have been following recent developments in Nigeria, you would see that the FG is patronizing from a lot of Nigerian companies. From the army, navy, air force and police who recently took delivery of 14 Nigerian made APCs for police special units. The Federal government continues to patronise Proforce. In fact the second highest top level military officer in Nigeria, a Lt Gen like the Chief of Army Staff only recently paid Proforce a visit. Deliveries are ongoing for the Nigerian army. Let's see what 2020 brings. 2 Likes |

@kabe1 Both the Algerian gun truck and The Bosvark both have the exact same zu23mm gun. But the Bosvark has an armoured compartment for crew which can withstand 7.62mm armour piercing rounds and its also mine protected against 14kg blast under the wheel. Besides that it's 6x6 meaning not only does it also have better mobility but it's also more stable. Thus I'm still waiting for you to explain how it need more dakka! |
