I was so pissed and angry and just decided to stop wasting money and stick to public transport and driving the family car when I can. Eventually with encouragement from here and family I booked another exam but decided to change my full strategy.

a. Research pass rate of centres near me, my exam centre had 32% pass rate so I decided to go for another not too far which had 49% pass rate
b. Changed Instructor after being loyal for 4 times
c. Scheduled exam for a Thursday and booked the preceding days off work to ensure continuous practice (I was always going on a friday test date and last lesson would have been sunday.
d. Made sure I was really calm like what is the worst that can happen.

On that beautiful day in October, I did my test and passed with 3 minors. I was over the moon, typing this months after sef I still feel like its a huge achievement and load off.

Thank you to all who encouraged me to never give up. To all still struggling to pass, just dont give up and your hardwork would soon come to fruition

I think after failing at most twice, it is very advisable to change instructor.
Some of them are just greedy and look forward to you paying for further lessons

Thats what I will advise, I was just being mumuish loyal. I might have used him for the 5th attempt if not that he started complaining of my house being too far because I moved places in between.

Can someone on a Tier 2 visa buy a house successfully with 5 to 10% deposit. I just had a chat with HSBC and they said that only applies to citizens nd people on ILR. I can only obtain a 75% LTV ration from them hence I will need 25% deposit.

Secondly does getting the 20% Equity Loan from Government Help to buy scheme (Not ISA) amount to government funds, make I quickly know.

What is the best website to read for a lay man like me to understand all this mortgage jargon.

I tried HSBC / Lloyds and told me the same scrap about citizens or ILR. Halifax is friendlier

20% equity loan doesn't fall under government funds.

Your best bet is a mortgage broker, they would show you all products available to you, under one umbrella (Not PDP's umbrella) ......

You would have to pay a 1% charge on completion though...........

If using help to buy, some mortgage brokers (if not all self) used by developers charge no fees.

You can try threshold mortgages. New build or not, there services are free.

After failing twice, I waited a few months, then changed instructor. The new guy taught me better (especially roundabouts, which was my weak point), and then I passed the test the next time.

Fati this is exactly my story. I passed when I gave up. My second to last fail was because I didn’t turn right on green- all my family members were like “that’s unfair to fail someone!”

I literally had given up when the instructor said “congratulations...” I couldn’t hold the Nigerian in me, I was screaming and shaking the car

As in! After my second fail, I changed my instructor! The man kept putting fear in me. I slow down, he will complain, I speed up, he will complain.. it was just too much. I then later realised that he was teaching me like I was a novice but I’m an experienced driver so his teaching skills didn’t apply to me!

My new instructor was god-sent!

If roundabouts was your weak point, how have you been driving in Nigeria?......

Can't compare naija with mostly 2 exits lol. When you have roundabouts up to 6 exits and doesn't stay in the right lane, could be a weakness

Haba now, you can’t compare naija roundabout with this scary one here. First of, we enter on the right, and you have right of way if you’re entering the outer lane (rightmost lane)- that’s what I was taught o.

But here, someone has to position themselves before you enter, then position yourself well while inside and then come out well.. it’s like differential equation!

I cannot recommend these guys enough.

I used them months ago to get my second mortgage as I didn't have the time or energy to trawl through the tons of mortgage providers to find one that meets my needs. I got my first mortgage years ago by going direct to my bank (RBS), sold that property last year and got my second mortgage via LandC. It's fee-free as they get a commision from the mortgage provider. I did pay a £995 product fee to the mortgage provider which was added to the loan, this was mostly cancelled by the £500 cashback I received from the mortgage provider.

If LandC cannot give a good deal, it's most likely a deal cannot be found elsewhere. Fee-free is an added bonus.

Cybersecurity is on the shortage skills list which can indicate more jobs than applicants which favours you .... but UK is not just about degree to find job. It's about relevant work experience. Make sure you have relevant work experience within that industry and if you dont make sure during your masters you on the side build up relevant work experience within that industry
