Nonsense. I am a corp member too and last month I was robbed of my laptop, phone and wristwatch worth over 1million. You won't know what it feels like untill you experience it yourself.

Nysc provision is only your allawee and incase you die they will pay your parent stipend other stuffs na OYO

Sorry for loss, I have such experience when I was serving but I don't think there is provision for that in NYSC oooo.

Same thing happened to me twice when I was serving. During the first raid in dec 2018, they only stole a couple of old shoes from my room and a few other corp members. The second time the unfortunate thief robbed my room and carted away phones and a bag belonging to my flatmate. Thanks to the cooperation between us and the community, we caught the thief, got all our possessions back and the thief recieved the beating of his life. The people of kalaibiama in opobo kingdom really respected corp members

In your own interest, don't report to police. u can report to Zonal inspector through your LI. This was the advice given to a friend whose laptop and other items were stolen during my service year @ Igbajo, Boluwaduro Local govt. Osun state. The suspects ( who are likely the members of your host community) would definitely be released and your life is at stake.

Over the course of the 12 days break given by the school for Christmas and New year holiday the accommodation given to corpers by my PPA (a government school) got robbed. Property of mine was carted away including a laptop, shoes, gas cooker and other valuables. Including the property of other corpers residing in the school.

What provision has the NYSC made for such kind of occurrences as the PPA seems to be doing all possible to avoid taking responsibility.

Perhaps you're not aware that it's illegal for you to travel throughout your NYSC except you officially apply and your application is granted.

Ordinarily should accommodation should be insured against theft/robbery.

But we are talking of 9ja here. Simple things in serious countries is rocket science in 9ja.

Sorry for your loss, in cases of bulglary, it is difficult to insure the victim of any damage control because cases like this are always controversial and filled with mischief.
Next time please carry important things along with you.
Please go to the nearest police station to make documentation of the incident incase things denegrate. I hope you stay safe.

Sorry for the loss your property. I'm sad to tell you the NYSC will turn a dead ears towards your cry. It happened to me last year when I was robbed in katsina. I informed the NYSC, only for the LI to put the blame on us for flaunting our phones on the street which caught the robber's attention.
