Theenchanter2:ASUU doesn't support corruption. They want their peculiarities to be included in IPPIS. The Governing Council of each University should be blamed for any corruption in the University. The Governing Council is the representative of the Federal Government. |

Theenchanter2:Accept my apology. It's really not your fault; that's how coming from a dysfunctional family makes people behave... But I tell you if you are really determined, and disciplined you can eventually break away from your toxic and abusive upbringing. I hope my advice helps. Thanks dear. |

Afamed:Do you want students school fees to be used to pay salaries? The University IGR cannot pay the salaries. Besides, University is not meant to generate income. |

But I honestly don't see any sense in lectures working in more than 3 Universities at a time when there are many people without a single place to become a lecturer |

It really is not the way it has been painted. Lecturers only work in one university per time. But because the government will not employ new academic staff in most Federal institutions the ratio of students to lecturers is unhealthily high for some courses and in many institutions. The work around is adjunct lecturership where some senior academic staff members are invited by such universities where there is a shortfall. These sought after lecturers then apply to the head of their own institution through their HoDs and Deans to assess if their universities can spare them few hours per week to help teach and supervise students in the institution where there is shortfall. And those adjunct lecturers DO NOT get paid double/triple salaries according to the ill-informed misinformation making the rounds. The home university pays their salaries because they are still fully on ground carrying out their normal functions, while the university they go to help compensates them with some allowance which in many cases is small and sometimes paid per semester and not per month. Also, the academic institutions are filled with individuals whose areas of specialization don't have many people in that field of research. Such lecturers can be invited by a university to come over and teach and train their own staff in that aspect. If it was you, I am sure you too will consider it fair enough to be compensated for these extra extra duties. Lastly, the government should employ more Nigerians into the universities first before trying to destroy adjunct lecturership which makes it a lot easier survive in a country where the leaders have refused to fund education. bizme:sir I don't know how you want to paint it or the coloration you intend to shade the truth. All I know is, you understand perfectly what lectures are doing. Let the unemployed get jobs too... |

Yes I understand that system perfectly, very likely much more than you do. It is only fair if you all try getting some information about how the academic system really works instead of chorusing 'foul foul foul' where there is none. UniversalDove: |
