The Training Or The Job: Which Should I Choose? by blesskewe(op): 7:58pm On Jan 12, 2020
Please this is urgent, at least before Wednesday

I had a slot for lastma job and am going for the screening on Tuesday
And
On the 2nd we were told at our church about a vocational center sponsored by the church at abeokuta
This school is for a period of nine months, during that period u would have five certificate when graduating
Test trade, napteb, hnd or ond, an international exam like that .also am learning shoe making presently but hey these are opportunities and am just confused
They would buy all the needed materials, accommodation and feeding
Just for me to buy personal stuff.
Mind u it's a well known vocational center

Now am just confused
Should I go for the program or the government job

Although, it depends on your age, but one thing I know is that Opportunities don’t often come twice. If I’m in your shoes, I will chase the vocational hustle, come out and pray for God’s blessing. Once you’re skilled, you have higher chances of getting contract/bigger job than someone who has no skill...

Meanwhile, for the first time in 10 years I am FTC... I want appreciate all my village people wey deprive me of FTC...

BIKO, check my sign and help out

But a certificate I'll have at the school is equal to level 8 of a civil job

Do you have the civil job at hand?

Are jobs so easy to get now that you are actually willing to forfeit one for a training that may or may not guarantee employment?

That's the point
I'll go for the screening on Tuesday
And leave for the school on Wednesday

Unlikely! No 8 months training can get you a level 8 civil service job..

I meant a certificate
Not the training
Re: The Training Or The Job: Which Should I Choose? by ImaIma1(f): 8:03am On Jan 13, 2020
Please go for the training. A skill learnt cannot be unlearned. It is a positive step in the direction of your future. Forget those preaching "a bird in hand". They are not thinking of the future.

After some years in the Lastma job, you will become redundant with no skill and no hope of moving forward. By that time, will you have this training opportunity? Besides, it's an international exam. That means the certificate can be used abroad. Please be smart about this.
Re: The Training Or The Job: Which Should I Choose? by Resurgent2016: 8:43am On Jan 13, 2020
Since you're still young with probably little financial pressures, its best you upskill.

Lastma does not look like a place where a person can develop his/her talent and build a budding career

And is not as if the lastma job is sire sef...

I did. It's a vocational training centre, which is ok for learning a handwork, but I still maintain that if they are promising to grant you 5 certificates/diplomas including an ND or HND after 9 months of study, starting with no prior qualification, it's either a scam or the diplomas are unaccredited. HND normally takes a minimum of 4 years plus one year IT, while ND normally takes a minimum of 2 years.

Wish you luck. Just make sure you get all the full details correctly about what the final outcome of any path you decide to follow will be, so you don't regret later. Keep in mind that you can still go for a fully accredited degree programme while working if you want to upgrade yourself (NOUN for example). Though you would have to pay, your salary should be able to easily cover that, along with personal expenses. It seems that the PAF training is free, but don't forget that you still have to eat and spend on your personal needs during those 9 months. Plus there is no guarantee that you will get a job immediately you conclude the training. I'd go with the job.

Good luck sha whatever you choose.

I would go for the job if I were you and train on the side at your own pace. Like those above me have said, all those plenty certificates after only 8 months training doesn’t should legit.

And even if they are recognized, how much would you really have learned by the time you graduate? Or you just want a certificate that says you have such and such qualifications while in reality you can’t personally measure up to the skills described in your qualifications?

Only if you know how pitiful I look at those Lastma officials especially the female ones.

There's no benefit in that job but curse upon curse. You could be killed or badly injured on the job.

Lastma is not a good job no matter how much they're paid.
