Indeed, appearance is deceitful. Then when they see me speaking English and sounding educated, they would be surprised |

DexterousOne: I don't understand. People say there's no job or opportunities, and I'm saying that young Nigerians, in Nigeria, are starting up businesses - some started during recession and have thrived in the Buhari era. Packaging food (reelfoods, maiyaki's); farming (https://theculturetrip.com/africa/nigeria/articles/the-top-10-agricultural-start-ups-in-nigeria/); tech companies (paystack, hotels.ng, max.ng, paga); solar cold storage for agriculture (coldhubs.com); solar solutions (solynta, blue camel); waste management (wecyclers, pearl recyclers). These are the few that I personally aware of, and each employs 10+ people. Are these enough? No way... we need many many more. But my point is: if these people just said "look at our predicament", they won't have started. After all there are no jobs. Times are hard, for sure, but new businesses by young people are thriving. These are both facts. I'm encouraging people to see both sides. But to answer your question: if there were no opportunities to make money, why would Chinese and Indians come? We're also seeing an influx of Nigerians from the diaspora starting up businesses here. It's hard to accept that "there's no opportunities" in the face of what I'm seeing. 2 Likes 1 Share |

nextstep:No mind the uncreative job seekers, they always think everyone is like them, everything in life and every situation is relative, I know many of my guys dash them visa to relocate to do 9-5 in UK, they won't go. Travelling to other countries to slave your ass out is played out, y'all can't even spend what we spend here. Life is about levels, thanks for educating them a bit. |

toyetade:This is the stupid mentality so many of you dumb slave workers there have. Guy I can spend an hour to broker a deal here, and get 3million naira, I don't need to work in the cold nights, or stand as security guard for 6 hours straight The percentage of Nigerians doing scam is less than 1% of our population...you sound unintelligent and myopic, do you know that the Nigerian market is 220,000,000 strong, this is the best place to be...but like I said you are trapped in the rat race, washing old folks backsides, doing menial jobs, enjoying the British sights and weather, stupid 2 Likes |

nextstep:Sometimes suffering is not all about lack of money. Running generetor to power ur house is suffering, staying stand still in a traffic for 2 hours is suffering, these two contributes largely to why life expectancy is low in Nigeria. To many suffering here even if you have billions. 2 Likes |

AmuDimpka:in Nigeria tribalism, LAGOS and onitsha madness. No where is a bed of roses but London is trillion times compared to Nigeria. Can someone survive in Nigeria for 21 yrs sleeping in a public transport? As a homeless fellow he still goes to the library to read books, do we have libraries in Nigeria? Now if he marry and get kids(British Citizens) the kids will enjoy that his "wasted 21 Yr". Is that not why we hustle? For our kids to have some sort of comfort. |

nextstep: What I mean is that the indo Chinese moving in to Nigeria are not your regulars They come in with capital (lots of it ) They have done business in other countries (They are not starting out afresh in Nigeria) And they have access to more capital MOST Nigerians are not that fortunate That is my point There are opportunity, yea The question is FOR WHO? Nigerians struggle a lot, and are faced with a lot of hurdles Even the bank's prefer extending line of Credit to a Chinese over a Nigerian IN NIGERIA (I'm in the industry so I know ) So you see That point does not paint the full picture. |

DexterousOne:A lot of indo chinese come here to work as skilled foremen, yes most take on a supervisory role, I see a lot of them on sites with boots working with Nigerian labourers, a lot are Chefs, in Shoprite VI chinese man dey make noodles at the stands, at Debonairs Pizza, Lebanese man dey make pizza and sharwarma, I know these things cos I live in the axis. Don't come online misleading people to satisfy your ego. People struggle everywhere, it all depends on what you do, and the class you aspire to belong to, even overseas most live on debts, some are homeless on subways and alleyways, and there are lots of ghettos in America, UK etc. A peasant in America or anywhere is still a peasant, a minimum wage earner anywhere in the world is always somewhere around the bottom of the food chain. 1 Like |

dederocs: You are not serious with the bolded You obviously are not The ones you see on site Are they not working for CHINESE CONSTRUCTION COMPANIES? The ones that come as skilled foreman FOR WHO? A lot of Chefs, IN THEIR OWN RESTAURANT or one owned by a compatriot There was even a billionaire who imported his own personal chef from Italy. The Indians you see buying up ilupeju They hire Indians for managerial role These guys coming to set up businesses here did not come empty handed I have processed some of their transactions And all I did was open mouth You may not be that exposed to understand the point I was making to @nextstep, so I don't blame you For you to think that the average Nigerian and these guys are on the same footing 1 Like |

The same way he has been arguing with me blindly telling me Nigeria is the best country in the world, Everyone is making it there, he makes a deal of N3m in one minute, he travel to Dubai and other countries of the world. He just believe in argument and will never see any reason with you. Let him remain in his foolishness |

ekerintee:Your story is one sided. Yes not everyone make it abroad, how about telling us about those who made it. Those Nigerian living in houses valued at more than £1m, those doing job and earning over £100k, those with children in Oxford or Cambridge Uni. Yet these are many as well in UK, US , Canada. Those ones wont make any noise but living a quiet life |
