killed exactly this type in my poultry too years back. After several attempts to catch the culprit. My mum actually found it trying to digest a full grown broiler, around 4am. I use rake kill the bastard, but not without a fight as the mad thing dey throway spits

I have a mini poultry and for months I noticed eggs are being tampered with. I suspected a snake but I couldn't find traces until yesterday while trying to relocate some, I found this snake close to one of my chickens laying eggs. It was the culprit. It has killed several of my chickens and I'm happy it met its waterloo.

What kind of snake is this and how do I prevent its reoccurrence?

What baffles me is my poultry is surrounded by houses people live in 247. I wonder where this one came From.

That's a black necked spitting cobra. Native to sub Saharan Africa.

that is a deadly black, also the most common snake to see close to dwelling places...it probably has been living in one of the roofs around you or your own ceiling, or any hoe around..it is a neighborhood snake

That's a Red Neck Cobra, venomous and you are very luck it did not spit its venom at you.

People here just shouting black mamba but they don't really know what a black mamba looks like. A black mamba doesn't have a red belly but this does. Wiki says this is a Red bellied black snake.

It is a redbellied black snake. That's the name.

Quite a shy snake. Only attacks when provoken. And the venom doesn't kill.

Try to be more vigilant. And check out anti-snake substances you can spray around your house.

Nb.

A black mamba doesn't even have a black skin. It is named so because of the inside of the mouth.
