What Kind Of Snake Is This?

I have a mini poultry and for months I noticed eggs are being tampered with. I suspected a snake but I couldn't find traces until yesterday while trying to relocate some, I found this snake close to one of my chickens laying eggs. It was the culprit. It has killed several of my chickens and I'm happy it met its waterloo.

What kind of snake is this and how do I prevent its reoccurrence?

What baffles me is my poultry is surrounded by houses people live in 247. I wonder where this one came From.

thats a red bellied black snake.

Lol, googled the pictures of a Black Necked spitting Cobra and see the under belly for yourself. Some have yellow and some have red under bellies.
You're right , the under belly of this one seems to be too red which is making people think it's a red bellied black snake. I would have said same too but red bellied black snakes are only found in Australia. The next specie that has that kind of red coloring is the black necked spitting cobra. They usually have a black body and some patches of red under belly.

because it's found there doesn't mean a little fraction of it can't exist in another continent or far away from its original habitat
Check Wikipedia and study their distribution. If a small fraction was found in sub Saharan Africa, the internet would have told you. Moreover , geopgrahically, it's not possible. Australia is geographically old, it's an island. It's almost not possible to find similar species of animals there and in Africa too. Species have their habitat, where they're found. You can't find a lion in Africa and tiny parts of Eurasia and expect to see one in Europe and America.

In saner clime, you will be prosecuted by Environmentalist for killing the snake You are depleting the echo system by your action and endangering snake specie. You should have released it back to the wild. Next time do not kill. Catch it and release it back to the wild forest. Thank you.

That's a red-bellied snake. It's not venomous but they could constrict their preys.

I wonder why someone who has seen the snake's stomach lining being "red" and still calls it a black mamba and illiterates line up to support him grin grin grin

Olodo youths, that's not a black mamba. A black mamba is grey in colour, sometimes light brown, others could be black but rare.

When you wanna kill or corner a black mamba, it opens it mouth and keeps hissing. The inside of its mouth is very black; it is trying to tell you to see inside of its mouth, that it is black and it can kill you; move away from me, don't come near me, I can kill you, I don't wanna kill you, I won't chase you, just go your way or else I would bite and inject venom inside you.

Even a normal human being, when he or she or even any animal sights its mouth, moving away is the best option.
You are also an illiterate and an olodo. This is a black necked spitting cobra not a red bellied snake.

It's not a Black Mamba,rather a Forest Cobra..

Arent there bushes around your environment.? Even the smell of the poultry is enough to attract reptiles. I would advise you pour bitter kola around your poultry area.

It's not a black mamba ooo, that's a cobra. Because it's black doesn't make it a black mamba. FYI, the body shape of a black mamba is different from a cobra and thank God it's not found in Nigeria, black mamba is only found eastern region of Africa and rest of the world.

Black mamba is found in Nigeria and all over subsaharan Africa

As a matter of fact, black mambas are not black but slivery-grey. They are called black because the inside of their mouth is glossy black.
