The minister is very correct about it's use in Benin, they have several big filling stations in Benin that most commercial drivers use and even many private rides.

It will be good to replicate it all over Nigeria

I support this govt, confirm from my posts. But this story doesn't make any sense. And your comment doesn't make sense either.

The emboldened texts in your comment above is completely at variance with the narrative behind the so-called CNG. Cos if your engine rating and design is what determines if you are to benefit from the cheap fuel, how then is it to the benefit of the common man? The common man and the big men, who drive cars with better engine designs and engine rating

That's why it's the benefit of common, most engine ratings of generator with 0-3.0 Kva, most okada that we uses here, like bajan, TVS and Honda, maruwa , all this engines are mostly designed to fit that...
A common man can't be driving Royce'rolls, g wagon and heavy machines

Two of you are arguing what you know little about. A little knowledge about CNG will help you than typing this long stories.

CNG will not reduce the engine life if the engine is made up for CNG. But if you use your petrol car with CNG then the engine life reduce very rapidly. Because there is no lubrication of intake and outlet valve which will cause corrosion on valve and cylinder

It’s been functional I am in Benin city and I know this for a fact. Most Audi80 cab drivers use it and there r fill up stops at various points in Benin city. It’s real n has been on for close to 10 years now

It's been on for 10 years? So it's not Buhari's or APC project. But some gullible ones are already attributing the project to Buhari.

They won’t tell you this.

They are looking for buyers for CNG since production is higher than what companies that use it consume.
Now stylishly sounding like they are doing us a favour.

I’ll take them serious if the price is N50/L

1) Compressed Natural Gas is actually cleaner than petrol, so it's good for the environment.

2) Nigeria has much more natural gas than crude oil, in other words, we have more gas than petrol.

But there's a problem.

If you check my posts above, you'll notice that this is not a new idea. This issue has been talked about from time to time since the 1980s.

The issue is, who is going to convert the cars from petrol burning cars into compressed natural gas burning cars? Who is going to provide the filling stations?

These are the questions and unfortunately they have not been answered in this write up.

Exactly my sentiment. How many vehicles in Nigeria are designed to run on compressed natural gas? How would citizens take advantage of cheaper alternative when they don't have such vehicles? Do we now ditch our current vehicles and buy compressed natural gas vehicles? What's really the message here.

The only good news is the passing of the PIB, long overdue. Hopefully, the timeline as stated by the minister will be realized this time.

There is nothing like side effect Mr hater,
Your engine ratings and design will determine if you can use it or not.
Just like the jet engines, diesel engines etc

Most engines in circulation are designed to use PMS. This means there must be some adaptation to the engine to enable it use this one.
Let's hope all common man can afford that

My problem with us is that we never celebrate achievement neither pray for the best for this country, I have read the comments and most were negative, hating and abusive, and we expect good things to happen to us. I say it's a welcome development and I pray it sees the light of the day and for those hating please don't buy the fuel when it eventually comes, bunch of hypocrites. mumus!

If this happens, I go fill my tank. And my car uses 93ltrs. Though they are still planning, let them do it. And be ready for fuel scarcity
Re: FG Plans N97 Per Litre Fuel For Common Man by Obiaksnews: 8:30am On Jan 17, 2020
I see a lot of people are confused about the CNG fuel being proposed, if you actually stay in Benin you won't be surprised or confused about how it works. CNG is simply gas made for car use. At a time a lot of commercial vehicle users in Benin were encouraged to use the CNG as it was more economical and i can attest to the fact that a lot of people embraced the idea. Both commercial and private vehicle owners, it is cheaper to use and can be used for weeks if you have a full tank and yes there is a filling station here in Benin city where you can drive in and have your tank filled. if the federal government can invest in it, it would be a welcome development.

Don't blame pessimistic people that have had their hope and expectation shattered consistently.
Blame political leaders that have always tried their best not to deliver any promise made.

When it's in practice, we'll celebrate, but still then - I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
